Stephanie was so good. I get my hair cut once in a *very* blue moon. One reason I dread going to…read moresalons is because i'm usually not in the mood to chat with a stranger (life is overwhelming. for me, silence is gold!) Stephanie seemed to pick up on my willingness to have silence and just let me be. Thus, the haircut was super relaxing. I closed my eyes and she did exactly what I hoped she would do to wash and cut and style my hair. I'll look for Stephanie next time I need a haircut. Also, though I hadn't sought out an LGBTQ-friendly place, I was really happy to see a rainbow flag when I walked in. Set me at ease immediately.

I've been mulling over writing this review for days, but I've come to the conclusion that if I'd…read moreseen a review like mine before I went, I wouldn't have such a terrible haircut. My stylist was very nice and we had great conversation. Unfortunately, however, she didn't do anything close to what I asked for. I wear glasses, so i couldn't really see in the mirror and I was turned away from the mirror so I couldn't even see it when I left. She didn't even bother to show me the back. It wasn't until I got home that I saw that not only was it so so so much shorter than I'd asked for, but it's just an all around bad haircut. She was very heavy handed with the razor so the few places I do have a little length, it's thin and frizzy. Full disclosure: I had cut my own hair (I'm a former stylist) and made a mistake on one side. I was very clear on what I wanted. I said I wanted to keep as much as I could as I'm trying to grow it out, and I just needed the other side evened up with the side I went too short on. I even included that I didn't want it "spikey"! I provided 3 pictures, all pretty similar, and my hair was plenty long enough for all of them. When I went in, my hair was just over 6 inches all around. Now, it's less than 2, uneven, tapered to about 1 inch above my ear, then 2 inches right below it creating weird bumps in the over all style. She kept my bangs (thankfully) but directly behind, it's so short it's spikey, exactly what I said I didn't want. It's not just that it's just too short, it's a terrible haircut, and there's nothing I can do to make it better until it grows out. My goal isn't to bad mouth the salon or the stylist, she was great working with me to get me in and really seemed to listen to me, but this truly is the worst haircut I've ever had. It will take several months before I can even fix it. Even though it's incredibly embarrassing, I've actually decided to add the pictures because I think it's necessary to see how bad it really is. Sadly it's been almost 2 weeks and not a single person from the salon reached out to offer to try to even it out or make it better in any way. No accountability for mistakes. Feel free to remember that before choosing this salon.

I reached out to Beauty Unleashed because it is not far from me and right away I could tell that this was going to be 1000x better. The owner replied really quickly, was kind, non-judgmental, had prices that were more than affordable. After my first appointment (I've had 4 now) I could tell that the laser was incredible, way better than any laser I had before. This is actually working! My hair is gone in my main treatment areas, I added some more areas as I realized how great her prices are, and how good her laser works. My favorite thing is that she has numbing cream, I pay extra for it, but it's worth it for sure! I pay for it every single time, and I never regret it. I already plan to keep going, even after my laser is complete, she has so many different services that she does. Taking care of my skin is next for sure!
