All the women who work at Hot Waves are talented and friendly - everyone feels like a friend. Laura cut my hair today and I don't think I have ever been so happy with a cut and style in my life! She took the time to understand my hair needs to make sure I had the best style for my hair type (I have long, thick, wavy hair that can be tough to style) and I could not be happier with the results! Laura is a miracle worker. Their prices are also VERY fair, especially for a salon in the city, and they are not pushy at all when it comes to add on services or product. I can't recommend Hot Waves enough - in my opinion, it's the best salon in the city.

However Resh's owners & staff have overcome the obstacles and provide exceptional customer service centric services. The professional operation starts with being able to make your appointments online, selecting your services & stylist. My concern was getting the best colorist & in my humble I did with Angie. The assistants are also extremely professional and render such high quality service that I generously tipped them for a job well done too. Pros: Quick but awesome service, nice decor and exceptionally clean. Cons: None. If you are looking for a great salon that does all texture hair but especially African Americans then look no further. And also, who doesnt love a hairdresser that is fun to gossip with for the short time youre there! (isnt part of getting your haircut the social aspect?) She runs a nice setup, its clean, has the scent of shampoo flowing through the air, and of course her dogs are just wonderful (when they are there!) The pricing is fair, but you really cant put a value on looking good. When I walk in with my mop-top, I walk out looking like a million bucks. I notice some reviews are posted with some sort of animosity towards the owner, Tressa, and not necessarily the business... Hair-cut: I have very long, fine hair and I wanted to add layers without thinning it out. Danielle did a fantastic job of cutting it so it looks great in the back and also framed my face beautifully. I also appreciated that when framing my face she did it based on where I normally part my hair. It is a pet peeve of mine when hairdressers insist on parting it down the middle when I never wear my hair that way. Up-do: I had no idea what kind of up-do I wanted. Danielle was great at asking questions like where I was going and what dress I was wearing to help me figure it out. She then pulled up an inspirational photo from pinterest and nailed it! She knew that my hair doesn't hold very well and kept that in mind, which was another huge bonus, as I am so sick of stylists telling me that it was going to hold b/c of some special trick they knew (it has never worked). She kept that in mind when curling it (over curling now so it's perfectly curled when time for photos) and in picking the bun style. My hair held all day and into the evening. Additionally, she had framed my face in such a way that once the curl was gone from my bangs, it still looked pretty. I strongly recommend her to anyone. She clearly had a strong fundamental knowledge of different hair types and excellent skills to boot.

Every time I make my way down to Northern Liberties to get my hair cut and colored, I leave so happy and thrilled with my new hair. I've done darker stretched root balayages as well as lighter balayages, with a tight root, which grow out very nicely and are low maintenance for busy (read lazy) ladies like myself. A lot of stylists say they know how to do a good balayage, but Ashley always does an amazing job (way better than some of the stylists my friends go to, but I won't name names, haha).

It took a lot of research and thinking before I decided to go through with it. I met a girl whose curly hair similar to mine and gone blonde and she recommended Meagan. I reached out to her and sent her pictures of the look I was going for beforehand and she explained the process she would follow. I decided to make the the appointment and am glad that I did. She was punctual for the appointment. The products that she used were gentle on my hair although the color was being lifted. She straightened my hair which also makes me nervous sometimes because some stylists go to heavy on the heat and damage my curl pattern. It's been over a month now and I can say that my curls bounced back nicely, I'm in love with the color, have gotten lots or compliments, and have not noticed any damage to my hair. The second time I went I received a facial. I have had black head problems and I need some sort of assistance to help cleanse my face. The girl who helped was extremely knowledgeable and she was able to clear my face from the facial she gave me. I can't remember either one of their names. The first girl I mentioned does the facial waxing & is a hairstylist definitely recommend her. The woman who did my facial has a really cool accent & she knows what she is talking about!
