I woke up this morning craving a hair cut. My hair always grows out and loses its shape since I only cut it once or twice a year. I usually go to Ascend or Focus Beauty in Fremont, shell out $55 plus tip, and walk out pretty happy with my haircut. But today I randomly remembered Michael, a reliable stylist I went to in high school with a very pleasant demeanor. I googled him, found out he now owns a salon called Hair Dimension, and left a voicemail asking if I could schedule a haircut today. 40 minutes later, he called me back saying I could come in at 6pm.
When I got there, I was so happy that he remembered me! I showed him some pictures on my cellphone of what I wanted. I liked that he was very thoughtful and deliberate while cutting my hair and took his time with the entire experience. I told him that I wanted to color and perm my hair too, but he said my natural hair was already silky and shiny and I shouldn't change it. D'aww.. :)
I was very pleased with my haircut, especially when he said it would only be $30! That's almost half what I would have paid at Ascend or Focus Beauty. Since I was already prepared to spend $60, I picked up a bottle of the Paul Mitchell Smoothing Serum and left a generous tip. I'll definitely be coming back on a regular basis and telling all my friends about him.
tl;dr?
$30 for shampoo, cut, blow-dry, and style. You can get your hair cut by Michael on a whim and not worry at all about how it's going to turn out. And it won't cost you an arm and a leg. Seriously, it's like getting a manicure but for your hair. read more
