Reviewing this salon as a returning customer. I got my haircut from Holly. I went in for a basic trim and I was pretty happy with the results. It's a no frills hair salon. They don't use the most fancy hair products or hair tools but it's a solid choice for a trim every quarter. I got an appointment slot of my choice when I booked 2 days in advance with my choice of hairdresser so it's convenient as I don't need to plan way in advance. I was happy with the attention to detail from Holly and with the length of hair she trimmed. She is very thorough at her job. The only thing I have to point out to them which I have noticed at every visit is to request them to apply heat protectant before they use the hair dryer. I wish they kept that in mind on their own. This is irrespective of the hair dresser at this salon. I think their prices are quite fair for the services they deliver. I will continue to visit them for my hair trims in future as well. The good: For sure, Simple Hair is a nice Salon run efficiently and quick service! BUT, the bad: The stations are always busy, sometimes some stations look a little dirty and the hair implements don't get cleaned between every customer. Some ladies at certain booths are hard to understand and they are brisk (so my earring got yanked twice cause the rush to comb and complete the styling). The not good at all: their hair wash "beds" stations are dirty, and it's not good for a person recovering from back surgery or anyone with any kinda back injury - it's a odd flat bed style hair wash bed. Overall, a good place and definitely go. Make it very clear about what you want done with the gentleman at the checkin billing booth. He can communicate with the ladies! The prices are very fair too, so my money feels well spent here. I used to get my hair cuts by Kim before she left, but now that I color my hair, I go to Vy for both. She's so sweet, well experienced, great energy and vibe, and genuinely cares for her customers - that's what makes her so good at her job. She's good at listening to what you want, while also giving her recommendations based on her expertise and years of being in the industry. I will go to her with an idea and she delivers it in an even better way than I could've thought of. She's also a great communicator and will be fully transparent with you on whether your idea will work or not, and if not then she will be prepared with an even better idea. This time, I went to get a long cut+ no-bleach baby light/balayage to give my hair a bit of texture and my hair turned out fantastic! I'm very happy with the results. Vy did a great job. Although quality and service were great, I'm posting 3 stars because I believe I was initially misquoted :/ I sent Vy a photo of my hair and was quoted 180 and up + 40-55. At the end of the appointment I was told the total came out to $330 pre-tip, which is about $100 over the quote. I understand that I have long hair and I already walked in expecting to pay more than the quote, but I feel that a 40% price bump was excessive... I forgot her name though unfortunately but she was really nice. I asked for a layered cut with face framing layers and my hair felt so light and smooth afterwards! I told her that my hair was thick and needed to be thinned out so it wasn't as poofy to handle. I felt that she cut it personalized to my needs really well. I decided to give Simple Hair another try after a disastrous experience last year. My sister goes to simple hair frequently and swears by their perms. The first time I went was amazing. Second was awful. Figured I'd try again! I called early around 945 and they said I could walk in and the wait would not be too bad. I arrived and signed in and was helped almost immediately. The owner (Vy) I think recognized me from my sad experience last time and she told a guy named Paul to help me. Paul cut my hair and washed my hair really nicely. He took his time measuring everything out to ensure I'd have the volume I wanted. He was gentle and seemed very kind. When it came time for the spiral curls, Vy came by and helped out so it would move faster. It took a little under two hours and results are much better this time than last. Now I know who to ask for and what to ask for! Total was $190 not including the tip to both Vy and Paul. This should last me about 6-8 months i hope! It's much more even this time and the curls start higher and I don't look like Maui from Moana hahahahaha. read more

After a thermal straightening, it's normally 2 months until the breakage happens. For the 20 years I have been getting my hair straight permed, it's happened 80% of the time. came on a saturday at 1pm and was immediately seated. all women's cuts r set at $45 minimum. prices are not flexible/negotiable unlike other smaller barbers. Ha was my hair stylist and she was very sweet, conversational, and reassuring throughout the 45-60min ish session. i asked for a replica of rachel's (from FRIENDS) layered mid length cut (reference shown). Ha did a fantastic job on layering/face frame pieces. u can request a wash (i'd recommend). then a flat iron to style after the cut. but the cut came out significantly shorter than i would've wanted. i'll attach a picture i took yesterday for reference (given 3-4 weeks to grow out btw). overall not a cut im unsatisfied with, but would've wished the cut matched the request. not confident that i'd come back. read more

After years of going down to SoCal to get my hair done, I think I've found my new go-to salon! I found simple hair through Yelp and liked that they had good reviews. I did see some reviews (either on Yelp or Google Reviews) warning about rude front desk staff, so I was prepared when I called to make an appointment. When I called to make an appointment, I asked to schedule with Holly, and luckily, she had appointments available the following day. The person I spoke with mentioned that they have walk-in available, but the wait can be up to a few hours and does not guarantee a specific stylist. You'll just get whoever is available. I asked about their price range, and I was told the price range is $40-$55. I was just going in for my yearly haircut. Nothing too special, just a long layered cut with some thinning since my hair is thick. Since it was a yearly haircut, I had a lot of length to cut (about 4 inches). Come the day of the appointment, I checked in and wrote my name on the clipboard when I arrived. The waiting area was full, and there were even people waiting outside. People were still coming in here and there to inquire about their wait time. Even though the wait was "a few hours," some people still decided to get on their walk-in list (maybe they were going to run errands as well in the meanwhile?). I came in with photos of the hair cut I would like. We agreed on the length to cut, and she started chopping my hair. What I appreciate about Holly is that she checked in frequently to make sure that the length and thinness is what I wanted. I ended up cutting another 2 inches more than what I originally had planned. My total was $50. It has now been 3 weeks since my haircut, and I still love my haircut so much. My hair is now lightweight and has some movement and shape to it. I feel like I save so much time with washing and drying my hair now. They are located in the same plaza as Marina grocery store. First of all, I wanted to thank the team at Simple Hair for being accommodating. I originally called for a particular person, but then called back for the earliest appointment. They were able to give me an early appointment after opening. TRANG is amazing. Super friendly. Very accommodating and was able to deliver what I wanted. I asked for maroon highlights, slight trim, and curls at the end. She even showed me color samples of tones I wanted. Final outcome was absolutely wonderful. I LOVED IT. If you need a haircut or hair dye, Trang is person to go to. From cutting, hair coloring, washing and drying, you can tell she cares for her clients. Holly did a great job on the cut and was very thorough with my cut and layers. I did find the pricing a bit odd for a cut that didn't include a wash, styling or use any products. She only used the Revlon styling brush for maybe a couple of minutes. I guess the price is the same ($55 for my length) whether or not they shampoo/condition, but I was told "only charged you $50". I would have much rather paid $55 for a cut with shampoo, condition, and styling though. Of course I still tipped 20%, but I'm a bit sad I didn't get the salon experience going to the...salon . I've had two very different experiences at this salon. The first time, I came in for Japanese straightening and was treated by the one stylist in the salon who is clearly the expert. That visit went well--I got exactly what I asked for, and I was happy with the results. Unfortunately, my second visit (six months later) for a touch-up was a completely different story. I started with the same main stylist, but partway through the service I was handed off to another stylist. That's when things went downhill. My hair ended up puffy and uneven, and the work was simply not done well. One major issue I noticed is that the stylists seem overbooked, juggling four or five clients at the same time. Because of that, you don't get the level of attention or care you'd expect for a technical service like Japanese straightening--especially compared to higher-end salons. If you're looking for something cheap, this place may work for you. But if you're looking for quality, consistency, and attention to detail, I would not recommend this salon--especially for specialized treatments. I will not go back to this salon. read more

I got lucky with this place and trusted my instincts. It's been about a year since I got a haircut and I relocated from SoCal so I was in need of a new salon. I was looking for a place that was affordable and does great work. So I came upon this place and decided to give them a call. The range was $35-$55 I believe and my hair is long so it was $55 but that including a wash and style!!!! I feel like that's a steal in the Bay Area! I read prior reviews and saw people really like holly so I booked a same day appointment with her. Holly was really nice and knowledgeable. I wanted long layers and face framing layers and I think she did an amazing job. Of course I wanted to keep my hair as long as possible but she did let me know that she recommended I cut off a few inches and i agreed but she still made my hair look great and healthier! An amazing find for women's hair! I was looking for a haircut place that would do a cut and wash at a reasonable price. I stumbled upon this place upon searching by reviews when I was in the area, and this was highly recommended. Personally, I very very rarely get my hair cut professionally in the US as I think it's overpriced and they don't do a good job, so I was a bit apprehensive. However, this place impressed me. I came in after making an appointment and they immediately took me in. I told my lady, named Holly, that I wanted long medium layers, with a U shape in the back. She took in my direction immediately and did exactly what I was looking for. She also asked if I had washed my hair, and I said yes but would still like a shampoo. She worked so swiftly that the whole cut and wash took no more than 30 min. While she dried my hair, I asked for a blow out which she was so accommodating to also add on. She was also super nice and had good conversation with me throughout the time. Overall, the value for the haircut was above and beyond what I expected given the level of quality and care that you receive here.
