Since I was in need of a cut as well, why not kill 2 birds with one stone. No appointment was made- I totally made the decision to skip her nap and headed straight over to Cali's Perfect Cuts. With only 2 ladies working, I was really thankful to see Loan. A wait was unavailable but absolutely expected so we sat and sat and sat... and sat some more. Fast Forward: The wait was well worth it. Loan was so kind and full of patience when it came to my little monster's cut. I appreciate how she did not rush through the process even with a growing number of guests awaiting their turn. I have been to this place twice to get my haircut, and i had a terrible experience on my each visit, At my first visit, a middle age Vietnamese guy gave me a haircut. When he was done with my haircut. I asked, how much i owed him. He told me that, "men haircut is $9 dollars, but since you are paying with your debit card I will charge you additional 50 cents." I was OK with that, and asked him to charge me additional 2 dollars as a tip. I have eye problems, and I didn't have my glasses with me. I trusted him, entered my pin# and confirmed the transactions. when I got back home checked the receipt, and my bank statement. I noticed that he charged me additional $3.5 dollars. So, instead of charging me $11.50 he charged me $15 dollars. I was having a good day, didn't want to go back there and embarrassed him front of other people, or call the police to file a claim against him etc. So, I said to myself i will not tip this guy from now on. About 6 weeks later from the incident (which is yesterday. I went there again to get a hair cut, but this time the thieve was not there. Instead, I let another Asian(Viet) lady to cut my hair. I told her I wanna get a fade haircut, and explained her how short I wanted. What she did was, she did sides, and back flat #3 and the top she cut unevenly. The top hair range from 1-4 inches. Unfortunately, I was not able to take a picture of my hair because right after her I went to another hair salon to get my hair fixed. I know there are few other people works in this place. I don't want to blame everyone here. But just in case, if you get a haircut from this place, avoid the Asian guy, or if you have no choice just pay him the exact amount $9 dollars, Don't tip him. He doesn't deserve any tip. Since he likes to steal from people. Never use your credit card info with him. You never know. If he can steal $3.5 dollars, that means he can steal more. I've been trying to find a decent, reasonably priced barber in the Milpitas/north SJ area and decided to try Cali's earlier this week. Won't be going back. It's very tight inside - I showed up on a weekday around 4PM and it was packed. But they move very quickly. There were two staff doing regular haircuts and I was fourth in line. They got to me in about 20 minutes. While I was waiting, I noticed that none of the staff seemed to be cleaning up or doing any sanitization between hair cuts. The scissors that just cut the little kid's hair go right to a counter top and then right into your hair. Same with clippers, guards, and the stylists hands. They also don't really sweep the floors it seems - there is hair ALL OVER the floor. Gross. My hair was cut by a Vietnamese guy - the only male employee that I saw. He worked very quickly, adjusted what I asked to have changed, and showed me his work in the mirror. I didn't notice until the next day when my wife called it out, that he was super careful to only let me see one side of the back at a time. It's because he totally screwed it up! When I thought back about how he showed me the back of my neck was when I realized how he manipulated that situation. Basically he must have slipped with the clippers and buzzed the right side of the back of my hairline by about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. You can see that he knew he screwed up because he straightened it out so it's one clean line, but it is NOT symmetrical at all, and once my natural hair line starts to grow back in I'm going to have a weird section of really short hairs on one side of my neck where he buzzed it. They never should have charged me for this cut. They never should have hidden that he jacked up my hair. You gotta own up to it when you screw up at work - especially when a patron is paying you. I only give an extra star because the hair cuts are very affordable - $9 all up. So yea, I guess go here if you want to flip a coin that your hair gets totally jacked up and you won't know about it. read more

By the way, I didn't even get out of my car to walk the few feet to the shop. There was a male employee who came out of the shop for a smoking break. What? it really depends who you ask to cut your hair, like if you're a guy who wants a cut using an electric razor, the two younger hairdressers are okay to ask to get a haircut, but you should ask the older lady (i think her name is Anh) to deal with more feminine hairstyles. I'm currently pregnant and in the beginning she advised to just get gel because it's bad for baby so I ok'd to go for the gel. I came in because I wanted to get a hair cut. It was the closest place to get my hair done while waiting for my friend to get out of work. My hair was really long before I came in here. Like pass my waistline. I asked the lady to cut only three inches. She said, okay. Then she showed me the amount of hair length that she would cut which is exactly three inches. By the time she finished cutting my hair, the three inches that she showed me turned out to be about 7 inches. Well you get what you pay for. My hair cut was only $15.00 plus tip. For so many years, I tried different hairstylists but it seemed that no one ever followed my instructions and did what I wanted. I've experienced hairstylists cutting my hair too short or made it too choppy. However, after discovering Cali's Perfect Cuts, I never had to struggle to find a new hairstylist. I've been coming here for like, a couple of years. The other day, I was leaving the country and I needed to get a last minute haircut before taking off for the airport. But no time. But I figure if I go down the street to Cali's right at 9:30 AM when they open, I can make it happen. I had to give up the haircut and get on the plane with messed up hair because there was no time. The point of this story, is that Cali's had a line out the door before they were even open on a regular, weekday morning! I don't think you'll find that at any Supercuts or for that matter, any other barber. It seems like it's family run. Grandma is in there cutting hair, alongside her husband and their daughter and friends, I'm guessing. I'm guessing all this, because I don't know **for sure** they are all family, but I have a good hunch they are. Next time I go in, I should be more outgoing and make some conversation with the stylists (I usually don't talk much while I'm getting my haircut). $7.00, or is it $8.00 -- for a haircut. That's what I think a haircut should cost for a person like me that doesn't have much hair to cut. I've been pretty happy with the haircuts I've gotten there. For $7, I really like this place. The key to getting the best men's style haircut is to find the barber that suits your taste. I have had haircuts several times here from various barbers and I will admit, "#1 on the side and cut to about half inch on the top" is translated and done differently by everyone of them. It's just like beef pho is different from one place to another. You can request a specific barber to cut your hair (which happens quite often by frequent customers). If you like the style you get, do not expect to get that cut by someone else next time. This place gets pretty busy on Fridays. (I'm a guy btw) I needed an emergency haircut today since I wouldn't have time to do it later on. So I got stuck with the guy who smells like cigarettes. I asked for number 1 on side and back. Cali's Perfect Cuts did not take appointments and wasn't busy. Yes! I noticed that the cutting area wasn't really clean. There was hair all over the ground. I'm not sure why they don't sweep up the area thoroughly prior to seating the next customer. Regardless, I got my shoulder length haircut with layers in the front and back.
