I had my simple woman haircut with small side layers for $30 today. It felt so simple and it didn't take too long to cut off 4-5 inches of my hair. They do accept Visa credit cards. Price range depends on length of hair and style desired. You can always ask in advance. This place isn't fancy either, but it's well maintained by the ladies working here. I have been going to Wendy at Hair Expo for 10+ years now and the people and service are beyond great. My daughter has started going there as well. Wendy is also very reasonably priced compared to what some other saloons charge. She is great with hair, really tries to get things right. I want a perm but not too tight curls etc. She will always tell me ahead of time what to expect and how long it will take. There are 2 other ladies who work there, the owner and another woman. So pleasant, always smiling, never fake, nor do they talk about their customers in Vietnamese. They genuinely engage and there is no rush to get you out so they can get someone else into the chair. There is plenty of parking and I saw today that the complex is installing electric chargers as well. I have only ever gone there for my hair and every single time that I am there, I have only seen other people get their hair done, no nails or anything but they do have prices for nails and other services. TLDR: The two short haired ladies are extremely nice and do a great job at taking time and listening/following directions on your hair. Avoid the long haired stylist at all costs!!! I have never been so compelled to write a review, but this really bothered me to the point I feel I need to let others know. This place is great....as long as you do not get the stylist with long hair (Wendy?). I have come here before and the two other stylists did a wonderful job on my hair. We came this weekend and they had to call another stylist to work due to it being so busy. I was unfortunate enough to be her first client. I had a very bad feeling upfront as she seemed to be in a rush to be done with my hair before she even started, and her demeanor was very unfriendly. First, I told her I wanted just a trim of my current hairstyle, and she told me I needed to cut my already short hair 4-5 inches more! I declined. She advised me against layers, and so I agreed that we would just trim the existing haircut 1-1.5" with no added layers. As I watched her cut my hair, things seemed "off". She was cutting at VERY strange angles, and seemed to cut in a line in some places, and then skip over a ton of hair and go cut somewhere else, with no rhyme or reason. I am not a professional hairstylist so I assumed she knew what she was doing. Because my hair is wavy/curly/frizzy, I could not even tell what she had done to it. However when I got home and showered that is when I realized it was completely BUTCHERED. Not only was it cut horribly, but chunks/pieces of my shoulder length hair were cut up past my ears and hanging/spraying outward in such an awful shape. Ironically she advised against layers and I guess decided it was better to cut CHUNKS of hair in uneven lengths all over my head?!? I've had bad haircuts before, but this is unforgivably bad...I am so upset. My haircut literally looks like a woman's mullet! My hair now falls in a frizzy triangle shape around my face in some places, and a fuzzy ball of mess in other places - it is alllll over the place. Worst yet is that it is going to be an EXTREMELY LONG process to get my hair to all grow back out to one length (years). My only option now is to put it in a ponytail every day (damage), and pray it gets better/grows out quicky. read more

I have very thick and straight Asian hair, and the dozens of stylists/barbers I've had in my life have never been able to get the layering and edges looking perfect. But the ladies at Hair Expo are super attentive to detail and get it right every time. They are super friendly and funny and if you become a regular, they will treat you like family. I feel bad giving a local small business such a low review, but the haircut I received here last month does not look good at all. I was in the area and did not make an appointment and I sat for at most for a few minutes before I saw the stylist. She was friendly and offered great customer service but I felt like she didn't know how to work with my hair at all. Coming in, I had thick, coarse, wavy hair past my shoulder and I wanted an inch trim to remove the split ends. I also wanted my hair thinned out slightly since it was a bit heavy. In return, she cut my hair 2-3 inches shorter than I asked for and basically gave me a ratty-looking mullet. The crown of my head has thick hair and cut into choppy, short layers and stuck out everywhere. She told me this was because my hair is naturally wavy, but I never had my hair stick up when cut into layers before this. The bottom layer of my hair was cut tapered down and incredibly thinned out. After straightening it at home, I saw it was uneven too! In total I spent around $21 , including the tip there and left disappointed. After a month of it still looking/growing unevenly, I will probably have to go somewhere more expensive and knows my hair texture well to get it fixed. Overall, if you're a man looking for a simple shave/trim, this might be a decent place to get that done based on the reviews. If you have curly/wavy/natural textured hair, I'd stay away and save up to see a stylist who has successfully worked with hair like that before. read more

Wendy is my go-to neighborhood stylist for haircuts! The salon is within walking distance of my house, and I've been coming here for haircuts for over 15 years. I get a conservative haircut -- a simple fade up the sides and back with about 3 inches on top. Just something to compliment my handsome chiseled facial features, hahaha j/k :-D The three employees here are really friendly. All I could say is that I could've done a better manicure at home. my skin was cut a few times (one is bleeding pretty bad), didn't completely even the tip of my nails so some are rounded and some are squares. Very small collection of colors and not the highest of quality. You get what you pay for. I originally came in for a gel removal then decided to give the place a shot and get a manicure. I went in just wanting to cut and thin out my hair because my split ends were causing my hair to get SUUUPER tangled. Vivian was kind, sweet, and gentle with my hair. Every time she brushed through a tangle, she would apologize for pulling (but I didn't really notice the tugging because she was so gentle). I walked in a little confused because no one was there for me to say, "Hi, I have a 6 o'clock appointment." After several seconds of scanning the room awkwardly, one of the stylists who didn't have a client greeted me and took me to a chair. She turned out to be a super sweet lady :) forgot to ask for her name though :( I just wanted a quick trim - it's been almost 5 months since my last haircut - but I didn't want to pay $45 for just a trim. This place was perfect - simple dry cut, and the lady asked my permission when she wanted to do something I didn't specify (bangs, higher layers, etc). No blowdry or styling at the end (again, dry cut unless you asked for shampoo service as well), but it was a $17 cut! and my hair is pretty long too (right above my waistline). nothing fancy but was exactly what I wanted. A no frills place, perfect for maintenance or in-between more expensive appointments. Not sure how good they are for more dramatic hair changes, but a couple of other ladies were getting their hair dyed when I got there. Everyone else who walked in during my 30-minute cut were guys. Call it being "particular", "picky",...heck, my friends just say that I'm flat out ANAL. It must be my OCD kicked into overdrive when it comes to my nails or hair, which is why I typically just do it myself. Besides being the closest and better rated hair salon on Yelp, I called Hair Expo because it was the only one that was so open so early in the morning. As I stepped in, Jenny greeted me immediately with her super warm smile. I liked my cut & color, and her price made me love her. Had my hair bleached and dyed blue/purple...even got some lash extensions (cheap, but materials show it) put on by her colleague. Had been going here for years with good results. The price was right & the simple trim I wanted was well done. I always made an appointment with no real waiting time to be seen. Yesterdays experience has changed my opinion. I had an appointment however I was told that I had to wait a half hour because someone else was waiting for an appointment in the far corner of the salon & she wasn't feeling well. If she wasn't feeling well she shouldn't have been there. I don't buy the story.My guess is it was a friend or a regular client. In the end someone else cut my hair after my half hour wait as the hair dresser that was due to cut my hair was not done. This is the only place I go to get my haircut. Vivian, I believe that's her name (lady with short hair) is an excellent person to have your hair cut. I'm a dude with bangs (though I gel it up on occasion) and she always listens to everything I have to stay and what exactly I want with my hair. On top of that, she even gives her own opinions on what looks good and doesn't look good! She cuts hair so precisely and you can tell how much detail she uses with the scizzors and razor. Even with my mediocre Vietnamese I had a pleasant time communicating with her, and trying to help her out as much as I can with whatever problems she has (she talked about her daughter beginning Kumon, and I used to get tutored there as a kid and I even taught reading there when I was a senior in high school!!) All in all, she's the only person I go to, and of course I'm always more than glad to give her a good tip :) See you in 3 months! read more

I'm not sure why this place has such high reviews, maybe its for male hair cuts. Don't get me wrong, the ladies that work there are sweet, accommodating but my review is based on a female hair cut. My hair is passed my shoulder blades and I just asked for a trim and to style aka curl my hair at the end. By the end of it I had more than 3-4 inches taken off, choppy uneven back, a-line, and awkward mom curls. But I can see how its great for guys! Came here over a friends recommendation and I am FULLY satisfied. When I walked in I was seated very quickly and the person cutting my hair (Jenny) was super nice and thorough for what she was going to do with my hair. I explained to her what I wanted and she even made some suggestions which I agreed upon. This isn't your average Hair Salon trying to get a quick buck out of you, Jenny was super thorough and she cut my hair confidently! Which was awesome because I've been to places where the person cutting my hair looked distressed and that stressed me out too. Jenny was super fun to talk to, I felt very comfortable and wasn't just staring into space waiting for the hair to be done cutting. After wards she showed me my haircut and then took it upon herself to cut a little more so that it would be even more even than it already was! I got my haircut here the other day and I basically cut off a couple inches and added a few layers. My haircut took around 45 minutes only because I had super loooong hair and after she would finish cutting my hair I wanted it to be shorter and shorter so she constantly had to fix it but she wasent annoyed or anything!! Which is cool because usually some hairstylists get annoyed. The lady who cut my hair was so awesome, her name was Vivian and she was sooo nice!!! The total was $18. I left super satisfied and I've never left a salon happy before because they either cut my hair super short or not give me the style I wanted. Definitely coming back forsure :) read more

I've been getting my haircut here exclusively for the last 5 years and I thought it was time for an in-depth review of my experiences. I've received haircuts from all 3 women who work at the salon. The price I've been charged is $20 for a dry cut on long straight women's hair and including the tip I've paid anywhere from $25-$40, generally on the higher end. The most recent haircut was $25 so I assume that's the new pricing. The owner, Jenny, is really nice and personable and generally will want to chat with you and ask about you. Good at discussing your haircut with you. Vivian, the woman with the short hair, is more soft-spoken, is good about asking if it's okay to do something, and will fix it for you if asked. She redid my hair cut once when it wasn't what I had in mind and I tipped her $20 because I appreciated that effort and I like to factor time spent into tips. She's pretty gentle and I enjoy haircuts with her the most. Wendy, the younger woman with long hair, gives really fast efficient haircuts. But I have to say she definitely handles your head a little roughly to get you in position. She sheared my ponytail off which I never had done before and I have small rashes on my neck because of the sharp shears pressing into my skin. And she makes me feel bad about not getting my haircut sooner. I get stressed getting my haircuts with her. Unfortunately, I'm disappointed with my last haircut with her. She didn't spray any water or thin out the ends. It's choppy and my hair doesn't sit well after I went home and washed it. I think besides that last haircut, all the haircuts I've gotten are pretty decent for the price. And I never had an issue with them cutting off more than I asked. I don't layer my hair so I can't say much about how good their technical skills are. My haircuts have taken from 15-25min typically. They take walk-ins and generally I have to wait 30-45 min. I have seen them take regulars before others, even those with appointments. I was referred here by my friend and even though I don't come as often, I do loyally go out of my way to come here because I like being in familiar environments. But I've been considering going to a new salon for better haircuts and somewhere they remember your name (that will probably cost more). read more
