I tried to resolve my concerns privately with the salon and ultimately had my hair corrected elsewhere. I've waited just over a month to write this review, honestly hoping I wouldn't feel the need to. But after the additional expense and seeing the condition of my hair now, I feel I should share my experience to help someone else make a more informed decision before booking. There were positives worth acknowledging. The salon itself was beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully designed. It was a lovely space to spend time in. My stylist, Yesi, was genuinely sweet and welcoming throughout my September 1 appointment. I enjoyed interacting with her and believe she had good intentions, which makes the disappointing outcome especially difficult. For transparency, I paid $448.75 total: $327 for the color and haircut, $42.40 for a hair product after a discount, $4.35 in product tax, and a $75 tip. The color and haircut alone did not cost $448.75, and I want to make that distinction clear (full cost breakdown attached). To be fully transparent, I did tell my stylist that I loved my hair while I was still in the chair. With the waves created by the rollers, my hair brought forward over my shoulders, and the salon lighting, I initially thought it looked good. Once I saw it at home in different lighting and without that styling, the color appeared much darker, and the uneven, jagged ends became apparent. My initial compliment was sincere. I wanted to love the result of an appointment I had looked forward to and invested in. The concerns I reported the following day were equally sincere. I wanted a rich brunette with softness and dimension. Once I saw my hair at home and in different lighting, it looked much darker than I had wanted, appearing almost pitch black indoors rather than the softer brunette result I was hoping for. The haircut was the most upsetting part. It looked badly uneven, with a jagged outline and thin, disconnected long stringy pieces hanging noticeably below the heavier sections. This was particularly visible in the back and from the side. The layers did not look smoothly blended, and the ends looked unfinished. I'm including photos so readers can assess the result themselves. My concern was not simply that the style wasn't to my taste; it was that the finished cut had obvious irregularities that needed correction. Why any professional would allow their client to walk away looking like that is still truly baffling to me. I contacted the salon the following day, explained both concerns, and sent photos. The salon responded politely but declined a refund, explaining that its policy was to offer adjustments by the original stylist. I appreciated the offer, but because I was concerned about both the color and the haircut, I did not feel comfortable having the same stylist do further work. I asked whether management would consider a partial refund because I intended to seek correction elsewhere. They again declined a refund but offered an exception allowing another stylist at their salon to make adjustments. By that point, however, I had lost confidence in returning and chose another salon. I have since spent over $700 elsewhere correcting the color and haircut, in addition to my original $448.75 purchase. Before this appointment, my hair had always been shiny and healthy, and I typically only get my hair done about once a year or even less. Thankfully, it no longer looks nearly black or visibly uneven, but after the original service and the corrective processing, it now feels dry and damaged and looks dull. This is a noticeable change from the condition of my hair before this experience. I cannot separate how much each appointment contributed, but the combined experience has been expensive and disheartening. I believe my stylist meant well. Still, I struggle to understand how the haircut shown in these photos was considered a finished professional result. I booked this appointment hoping to feel refreshed and more confident. Instead, I was left upset about my hair and facing a substantial additional expense to correct it. The quality of the finished color and cut did not, in my experience, justify the $327 service price. To new customers!!: Before booking, please look closely at the specific stylist's work, particularly examples of the color and haircut you want. Ask about their experience achieving that result, confirm what is realistically possible for your hair, and understand the salon's correction and refund policies beforehand. A beautiful salon and a warm appointment experience deserve acknowledgment, but so does the quality of the work you leave with. Despite those positives and the offer of adjustments, the result, the cost of correcting it, and the condition of my hair afterward mean I cannot recommend this salon based on my experience. read more

Not having done anything to my hair in over 30 years, I decided to take the plunge and get a vivid turquoise/blue. I chose to have Cam as my stylist since I had learned she was really good with vivid colors. So for my session, I got a luxe all over bleach (I had black hair to start) with haircut/styling and a vivid refresh (color). Cam spent a lot of time listening and understanding what I was after and also asked many good questions so that we could have the right understanding about what I wanted to achieve. She explained every step of the way and even made sure I was comfortable at all times, even when lowering the footrest of the hair wash station (every time!) I felt very comfortable with the process because she was able to anticipate what my concerns were - she reassured me and help me understand what to look out for, particularly the aftercare. Loved my hair and she did exactly what I wanted. I had this nasty crusty straight hair that she transform to a beautiful layered healthy looking blonde hair. tl;dr: Salon surprised me with a total bill TWICE what I was originally quoted! And they didn't even do a satisfactory job! Disgusted! I booked this appointment for a pick-me-up before my father's funeral, wanting to look good for family and friends. When I called to make he appointment, I was quoted "around $350 for a balayage" (I have a transcript of the call). Given my straight, fine, and short hair (just above the shoulder), this felt pricey, but I accepted the cost, as I had previously had good experiences at this salon. However, I was ultimately billed twice the quoted amount! This was my first time with this specific stylist.* I was charged for both a balayage and a haircut, but the haircut charge was unwarranted. The stylist offered to "quickly and easily" take some weight off the bottom of my hair because it tends to curl up. I accepted, assuming this small adjustment would be complimentary or inexpensive--not $300 for a few lousy snips! After the cuts, my hair still curled up, but I dismissed it as it wasn't the reason for my visit, and I usually wear my hair up anyway. Three hours later, the appointment was finally over and I went to the front to pay. I was SHOCKED to find that the total was TWICE what I was expecting to pay. I broke down, partly from all the stress I was under planning the funeral and partly because $600+ is WAY more than I would have EVER agreed to! I was really mad and someone came out (manager?). They took a few dollars off but it was still nowhere near the original agreed upon price. I told the stylist the most important thing was a natural looking balayage. As you can see in the pictures I took the same day as the appointment, she did a terrible job and the lines are mostly straight down my part with one weird area. It looks like I self-dyed my hair recently and it just started to grow out. It is 2.5 now weeks later and I am still SO mad, I can barley look in the mirror. I hate it! She did a terrible job and got paid good money for it. The appointment finally concluded after three hours, and I proceeded to the front desk to pay. I was absolutely shocked to find that the total cost was double what I had anticipated. I became very emotional, partly due to the stress of planning a funeral and partly because over $600 is significantly more than I would ever have agreed to pay! I was furious, and a staff member (possibly a manager) came out. They offered a small discount, but the price was still nowhere near the original agreed-upon amount. I had specifically told the stylist that achieving a natural-looking balayage was the most important thing. However, as the photos clearly show, the result is terrible with straight, distinct lines. It looks like a poorly executed dye job that is already growing out. Now, two and a half weeks later, I am still so upset that I can barely look in the mirror. I hate it! The stylist did a poor job and was paid handsomely for it. *I am choosing not to name the stylist because, as a gig worker myself, I understand people have bad days. However, I also know that money should be refunded (or billed the actual agreed upon amount!) when the job wasn't done--not just unsatisfactorily, but incorrectly. read more

Had a great experience for a transformative haircut at salon Valenti! I wanted layers in the front, but to keep the back full, and Pauline listened to my wants and executed perfectly! The haircut comes with a wash, and the salon carries the Kerastase line. Pauline recommended using the genesis line for my postpartum hair loss, and did a nice scalp and neck massage while she washed and conditioned my hair. Afterward, her haircut was done with an excellent attention to detail. She was kind, lovely, and professional! She answered all my questions related to hair care and maintenance. The salon gives an upscale vibe in the Mission (NICE) area of Fremont, with snacks and refreshments when you walk in. They also sell Kerastase products with discounts for buying multiple products.
