I moved to Odenton in July of 2017 and just now got a haircut! LOL I called at about 8:40 this morning, surprised to find that they open at 8. I asked for an appointment after noon, and she offered 1:30 - great. I did wait a few minutes for her to finish the client before me, but I could tell she really cares about giving the best possible result, which held true when she spent nearly an hour on my simple wash, cut & style. Sunny is just delightful to talk to, so I enjoyed my time in her chair. The only thing I specified was to keep my bangs just touching my eyebrows, and I am pleased with them being exactly right. I didn't give any other real direction, just shared that I don't like a lot of layers because I like to put my hair up when it gets hot. She told me, "You need a little bit of layers because it's thin," which is true and to which I agreed. Before the first cut, she held up the ends and showed me about 3/4" and said the splits needed that much to come off, and again I agreed. The end result, while not a style I can or would do myself except for special occasions (I don't curl my hair otherwise) is very flattering - my daughter and SIL said so! ;) I'll post an update in a couple of days, after I wash and blow-dry it myself - that is the real test, for me.

She will advise on what style and cut will suit your type of hair and your face, etc. I did a full on color job last time and she really evened out my color from my last lifts. It's now over a month later and I still love my hair. Strongly recommend Amy! I don't speak Korean but we get by just fine because she's that good at what she does! They are both super nice and caring, and they take care of you to make sure you are comfortable. The salon is very spacious and bright so it doesn't feel crowded when they are working on several people at the same time. Ms. Sarah will work with you to make sure that you are satisfied with the results and works hard to create a hairdo that you like. It helps if you bring a picture so that she has a general idea of what you want. I think her rates are very reasonable too. Oak Tree has been in the community for a long time and from what I've observed, she has a lot of regular customers, which is not surprising at all. And I've become a regular too. I don't live nearby, but I will continue to come here for my hair. It can be hard to find a good stylist and once you find a place you like, you stick with them. She went over what she can do and what she couldn't based in my hair type (Asian straight hair) and previous hair coloring/balayage. I went with her first solution to do a partial highlight to blend in my previous balayage. She did suggest to do a re-tone if I didn't want to spend more time and money on my hair. She took her time and I never felt rushed. I am really pleased with how my hair turned out. I recommend reaching out to Michelle and book your appointment ahead of time! My appointment was at 10:00 AM, but due to traffic I didn't arrive until 10:25. I felt awful, but Jaime was incredibly kind and understanding, and still took me in right away without any frustration. The worst thing is their towel on the washing bed (the one that would contact with your neck). It smells (like dirty towels) and the location got contact with it felt itchy afterwards the smell from the dirty towel remains on my neck as well until I shower at home this should never happen at a four dollar sign salon. Besides that, the store was clean and quiet. My appointment was 1PM - 4 PM. Only two people were working at that time--the two owners. Tbh it was the first time I saw a hairdresser do everything himself--all the preparation, cut, perming, washing, etc. The limitation of staff resulted in lack of attentiveness. During the perm, the medicine touched my face, and overall the experience was not up to the standard. I really hope that they can improve because hair coco has lots of potentials.
