I have curly long hair and have never found anyone who has been able to cut my hair and make it look great or even nice and she makes it look wonderful! I'm always so happy with my haircut after I leave. They offer a lot of other great services too, such as pedicures and manicures, massages, facials, waxing, and more. The salon is always neat and clean and never has that salon smell. Definitely a great place to go!

-1000/5 stars. TLDR: I booked my appointment over the phone and stupidly gave them my card (which…read morethey require). I had to cancel last minute due to work, the salon took all the money they could get out of me and threw THEIR OWN policy out the window. Warning- they call it a "fee", it's not just a "fee". Also I guess this place can just charge you whatever once they have your card information. I'm sorry but if I'm unable to make my appointment under no circumstance do I feel like it's fair to pay 100% of the service- nor did anyone declare what they meant by "a fee" over the phone or in the auto-text that came. I called Chesapeake Salon on the day of my hair appointment, I can't help when something last minute comes up at my job- and I realize and fully accept that I was going to pay a fee for messing up the schedule/wasting a salon expert's time. I will happily pay a fee, but 100% of it? They used zero (0) product on me- spent no time on me- and I'm expected to pay $200 for nothing! + { It goes against their website's own policy.} I would have totally been okay with paying half- maaaybe a little more. But I'm absolutely angry about this "fee". This is not fair and I was under the impression that I would not be paying full price. Heck, when I called- they had to ask "what were you getting done?" Completely unprofessional to not know what a client wants and to arbitrarily assign a price. A price that was never agreed upon might I add. ** Also also, nowhere was it overtly stated that I'd have to pay 100% of the service otherwise I'd have told my office that "no- I can't stay behind and help out today". If you go looking for the policy on their website you'll finally see what they mean by "fees" and it's sneaky how they fail to mention it + they fraudulently charged me- and that even by THEIR OWN policy! But more on that in a second... Over the phone while making the appointment they use vague language like "you'll have to pay a fee" like, I personally expect a fee to resemble 70-100 bucks. I should have noticed the red flags. They didn't tell me once that I'd be paying for a full service and not just a "fee" upon cancellation and these things shouldn't be used synonymously it's just misleading. A service they profit 100% from with 0 loss of product, 0 effort of their own. And yeah- argue all you want that I'm a time slot wasted. That I know and I agree. But a fee was what I was willing to pay, a full service slap in the face- no. Update 1: So yeah, I checked my bank account and that $200 is pending for a service I absolutely did not receive. Does this mean I'm owed product? Update 2: Still mad about this, went to the internet to look for their policy on their "fees". Their own website policy says I should have only been charged 50% because I called with less than 24 hour notice- their own words. They charged me 100% as if I were a no-call/no-show per their website. Weird- cause that's not at all what happened- because I certainly called and talked to someone within the 24 hours who TOLD ME I'd be paying them full service- before the time of my appointment. It didn't say "within 24 hours but no less than 3 hours before the appointment" for the 50%. Sketch-city. Do business here if you like the idea of a place treating others like trash. Update 3: The shady nature of this business knows no bounds. I saw another negative review here saying they have "wiped clean" other reviews they didn't like from Google. (That is where this original post lives) And so to protect my post I've saved it, their policy (with a time stamp) and I'm documenting the shenanigans with great interest. NEVER give a business your debit card especially over the phone and BEFORE you've even received service. I've learned my lesson and I hope this helps anyone especially during this time where money is tight and getting charged this absurd amount literally changes things completely. There's so many salons in this area (and these other places do not require card info up front) we do not need this abuse.

I ended up bringing my daughter here about a month ago and it was the best decision I could've made for her. She was ready for my daughter right on the dot for her appointment time and she went straight to prepping. Not only is Aminata sweet, respectful, gentle, professional, and quite fast I might add, but she makes you feel right at home as well. I couldn't have asked for a better stylist! When it came to picking out the colour for the braiding hair, I actually always go with either a #1B or #2 for my daughter, but as the professional Aminata is, she chose a #4 instead, which turned out to be a perfect match. I had no idea! It didn't stop there though. She not only asked for my opinion; she also made sure my daughter was comfortable with the choice as well. I've never seen a stylist ask an 11 year old for a second opinion. Aminata made my daughter feel significant and gave her confidence since she was the one sitting in Aminata's chair. That's EXTREMELY important to me, because my husband and I are raising our kids to know that they matter and they have a voice. We teach our children to speak up and she gave that opportunity to my daughter without me even saying one word about it. Although she's closed today (which made me remember to write a review in the first place), I plan to call tomorrow to book another appointment for my other daughter. I really hope she does locks because my husband wants to start going to her along with my son after hearing about my daughter's experience. This has nothing to do with her as a professional, but I have to speak about her character. We had a long conversation about countless topics. Within those conversations, I've concluded that Aminata has a heart of gold! She's sweet, understanding, patient, aspiring and inspiring, and has the best intentions for our children and humanity as a whole. She spoke with a passion you can't fake. In a world often characterized by its fast-paced nature and the pursuit of personal success, encountering someone with a heart of gold is like finding a rare gem amidst the hustle and bustle. I had the privilege of getting to know Aminata whose genuine kindness and unwavering compassion left an indelible mark on me. From the very first interaction, it became evident that this person's heart was a reservoir of goodness. I left to get food and when I came back, Aminata was speaking on the phone with someone. The conversation I overheard made me realize that she understands the power of compassion. Her ability to empathize with others and offer genuine support created an atmosphere of warmth and comfort that brought a smile to my face. One of the most striking qualities was her selflessness. Aminata places the needs of others before her own, demonstrating an unparalleled generosity of spirit. Whether it she's a listening ear during someone's challenged time or extending a helping hand without hesitation, Aminata's kindness aren't calculated; it's like she was acting on an instinctive response to the call of humanity. What truly sets this person apart is her authenticity. There are no ulterior motives, no hidden agendas--just a sincere desire to make the world a better place and a passion for hair. This may seem like a lot, but it definitely is not. I'm saying all of this, because many people are unaware, but hair transfers energy. If someone has bad intentions for you or a negative heart, that energy can get passed to you through your hair. Due to what I observed and our experiences, I trust her and will continue to do so. I also plan to reach out to her to work with her in the future to help grow her business. I have a few professions that are in the field of marketing, fashion, etc. and I want nothing but the best for her business. Aminata, if you ever read this, just know that I want to offer you my services free of charge. You've prepaid for anything we do together for your business, with your kindness and character.
