The owners (brothers) of this salon used to be in Arundel Mills. I am partial to Tungay, who has cut my long wavy/curly hair for several years. I finally got the nerve to cut it all off and he took the picture I showed him and proceeded to deliver on what I wanted. He did a great job and I would highly recommend him or his brother Tim. And there is a young lady who does awesome hair massages while washing your hair. Don't know her name but she makes me want to return sooner just for the head massage. read more

FYI they moved to this new location about 4 months ago and their name is now Evada Hairbar. Phone number is still the same - just name change. (A nail salon was originally here but moved to another location within the mall.) So needed some self-care and I thought I was heading to a nail salon. I haven't been here in years. Plus no, I didn't check the directory - was on automatic-mode. When I looked up I surprisingly realized it's now a hair salon. Color and cut was also part of my self-care to-do so I went for it. Skunk hair no mo'. Movin' in. Impressed. Ozzy is a gem. Personable approachable focused efficient. A seasoned well-rounded professional hair stylist. The overall price is very fair for color, shampoo, cut, and blowdry/style. If I lived in the area, he'd be my new hair alchemist and stylist. Point blank. Since I was in the area to care for a family member, I took the opportunity to spend some available time looking human again. Ozzy helped me. It's amazing how a color and cut service can boost morale. I've sat on many hair chairs and there are a very few that can do it all - Ozzy is one of them. He preps properly before brushing on the hair color. The color mix blended seemlessly with my existing shade. His hair massages during shampoo and conditioning were spa-grade. I almost drooled. The cut I wanted I got and when I finally washed my hair, there weren't any uneven areas. Thumbs up. His blowdrying/styling skills gave my hair life for 3 days. And I needed those days to focus on my family member. Much appreciate. Fun fact I was fortunate to meet his daughter and he manages/styles her hair. First off she is beautiful. The wash was great, especially with the headache I had. It relieves some tension. Tim was phenomenal. Got to know me and asked me what I have done in the past and what I now wanted. Tuncay and the stylists here are INCREDIBLE! I have been going to see Tuncay for decades because not only is he a master stylist in cutting all types of hair (long, short, thick, thin, curly, straight, etc...) but also his blowouts are second to none. He has a special way he does layers that makes your hair look lively, fresh, and give an extra bounce. I live in Chicago and have plenty of stylists and salons near by, but still I fly to Maryland to get my hair cut, colored and styled by him. Highly, highly recommend this place! read more

I was a walk-in, just wanted a shampoo/cut/blowdry. I usually just go to hair cuttery as I get simple cut/trims, but I decided to try something new so I looked up a local salon with good reviews. This place is terrible! At least for men or just to me...I asked the guy for a high fade. And had to tell him 3 times to cut more. Which IMO it should be that difficult to get right. It was all uneven and just a terrible cut in general I'd rather have the hair do my mom gave me when i was in 7th grade which i wish i had a pic to show you haha. And on top of that the guy gave me and my wife attitude. I've had my share of bad and good cuts but this takes the cake as the worst. Do yourself a favor go to the other salon in this mall. You may have to wait longer or pay a little bit more but its the better deal. screw this place go somewhere else. read more

It was mommy daughter concert night for me and my five year old, and even though they get busy being in the mall on a weekend with people walking in all the time they did a magnificent job of taking care of my lil girl and i, results were great but mostly was about giving her a princess experience and Tuncay, with a daughter of his own, was very understanding of her distractable character :P we both left looking good! read more

I signed up for Yelp just to warn you about this place. I went to Rafet's because I had a Groupon for a full color, highlights, wash/ cut and style. I booked my appointment with Jaye and when I got there, I showed her a picture of the general base color I was looking for, and she refused to do it (first sign of trouble), saying that highlights would achieve the end result much better. I asked again, she said no again. She sought advice (second sign) from the only other stylist working, and he agreed that I should only get highlights, regardless of what I was asking for. I settled in, resigned to highlights only (because highlights for $60 is still a good deal), and thus began the most awkward salon experience of my life, as we spent the next three and a half hours (too long for just highlights and a cut) in almost total silence. When it was finally time to rinse and shampoo, things got even more awkward, as Jaye pulled my hair, poked my eye, and stabbed me repeatedly with her fingernail in the same exact place on my neck. In the chair, I noticed that my hair was the same exact color as it was when I came in, but tried to keep an open mind until it was dry -- at which point I saw that it was the same exact color it was when I came in. "I tried to keep it subtle," she said. "Well," I said, "it is. But this isn't at all close to what I asked for." Keep in mind that I'd asked for a lighter base color, which both stylists refused to do. Jaye offered to put some more highlights around my face to make the highlights more noticeable and I settled in for round two. Rinse, stab, pull, repeat. For some reason, Jaye kept pulling my wet hair upward from the root toward the ceiling when she was combing it out; I can only assume this was an attempt to sell me some split-end treatment later. This time, the highlights were more noticeable, but they're also splotchy, uneven, and there's a clear line of demarcation with noticeable root only on the most prominent strands. Then, I got the worst blow out I've ever seen in my life, as Jaye eschewed any product in favor of -- somehow -- using a big round brush to make my hair flat, lifeless, and stringy. She even added pomade only to the roots, to ensure that my hairline would look greasy, but I wouldn't get any texture or body in the process. The only good thing I can say is that Jaye didn't totally undo my last haircut. At the end of my appointment, I was asked to fill out a card with my name, address, email and phone number. I left a fake address and number, no email, and left, three and a half hours later, looking worse than I did when I came in. read more
