terrible- my hair was thinned beyond belief during a haircut and I feel bald. My bangs chopped embarrassingly short and impossible to style. Still was charged a super extra fee (double) for "having too much hair" for a blowout afterwards. The blowout itself was terrible - the bangs look like I cut them myself to look ridiculous. And I didn't even want my hair thinned in the first place- only did it cause they kept complaining how thick my hair is. Kit and Nikki were bad. Shayenne and Gia are good. Cost Cutters is half the price and they do a great job! read more

I've had mixed experiences coming to this hair salon. The most recent time I came in for a regular cut and an eyebrow waxing. The haircut went well. I did show her a reference picture and she gave me the exact opposite, but it's on me to correct her. Haircut 4/5. I've gotten my brows waxed before. This isn't anything new to me. Once she put the wax on, I could tell it was too hot. She took her time applying the wax, so I thought she did a good job. When I first looked after the wax, my brows looked fine. When I got in the car, I noticed that she accidentally waxed off some of my skin. I've had that happen before, but it wasn't like this time. I've been having to applying ointment to my eyebrow because of the pain and dryness. I will also mention that the woman missed a line of hair on my other eyebrow. Very disappointing read more

I visited the Salon while on vacation with my family. I was very clear on providing instruction to Tori on what I wished to achieve with my look. She assured me she would have no difficulty with my request. After about a 4 hour session, I expressed my concern to her indicating there was way too much color and it was completely the wrong color. The intent was blonde highlights however the color was a distinctive orange color. Tori agreed that it was a mistake and offered to correct it by passing me off to another stylist due to her commitment out of town. I reluctantly agreed due to the horrible color and brassy appearance I was left with. On Saturday (2 days later) I revisited the salon and the stylists all gathered and discussed my color and condition of my hair. They cautioned her several times not to leave in the color product too long or it would turn orange. That's exactly what happened. I am now left with severely damaged hair and a horribly embarrassing look that will have to be professionally corrected at a significant cost to me. read more

I have been here a few times for a high fade and comb over. They usually do a good job though I wanted to try every stylist, looking for that perfect fade. Tonight I had Anna. I'm not sure what her specialty is, but it is not fades. She was quick and confident and I didn't check. Even if I had, I probably wouldn't have had them fix it. She only faded the sides and left the whole back! I had a clipper mark above my ear where she must have slipped. I could literally grab hair behind my ear, below where the fade started. On top of which, and for as disappointed as I was, I had to laugh, she shaved my neck hair from my hair line to the cape. Below the cape I still had untouched neck hair! I had a horizontal stripe! Luckily I had enough time to run to fox lake barber to get it fixed before work tomorrow! I've always gone to hair cutteries, but I think this was my last time. Thanks anyway Anna. read more

Corey listened to what I wanted and then walked me through the approach he would take. I LOVE the results! She was so friendly and did exactly what I asked for in my opinion, her work exceeded my expectations, and for 25 dollars? She earned herself a 50 percent tip, her service went well beyond the sub minimal rates that hair cuttery charges! Its hard to rate this place as a whole because your experience really depends on the stylist that you get. I will say this, overall I have had very good experiences. All of the girls seem pretty good at what they do. Some of them just seem to care more. Meaning they take their time and actually try. Some girls mail it in. My last experience there was awesome! And I apologize that I didn't catch the stylists name but she did great. She took her time, actually asked me what I wanted to do, and did a great job. My favorite thing about Hair cuttery is that they still actually wash your hair and give you an awesome scalp massage. Again, depending on the stylist, you can get an awesome hair cut here. I'm so upset right now. We have been to this location many times and have had amazing service. However, after today's experience, I don't think we will be back. I told the Stylist that my son gets a 0 on the bottom and 1 on top. She said how about a gradual fade with a scissor cut on top. I have no idea what that means, but said ok because I'm up for suggestions. After she finished, I said that it was way too long as his hair grows fast and repeated that he gets a 0 on the bottom and 1 on top. She seemed frustrated, but "fixed it." Again, it was too long. She said it was a 3. Again, I repeated what he gets. She said well that's just a buzz cut. Yes!! That's what we wanted! She seemed quite frustrated and kept repeating that she thought he was getting a scissor cut, even while I was paying. The normal 5-10 min cut took almost an hour so my son did not get the tea tree treatment that was part of our reservation. Only $5 was taken off for that. Then, my son informed me that she hit both of his ears several times with the razor. He just came to me and told me that his ear was hurting. I looked at it. It's raw and a clear substance is coming from it. I'm so angry right now and am trying to figure out if he needs medical attention. read more

And Bethany at Hair Cuttery can probably attest to that (after she stops crying, remembering how awful my hair was when I came in the first time - dry from dying, knotted) - but - when I needed SOMETHING done with this mess, I walked in and Bethany gave me The Look that Turns Heads! Not only is she friendly and knowledgable about the products she's using, she is easy to talk to, down to earth and listens to what you want. Besides getting my hair did, Bethany also waxed my eyebrows. I used to be a tweezer before Bethany - now I can't go back to plucking!! If I could rate lower I would. DO NOT GO HERE. KIM COMPLETELY BUTCHERED MY HAIR AND BASICALLY TOLD ME TO DEAL WITH IT... I asked for a cut and gave her two clear examples of what I wanted and she proceeded to butcher my hair. The manager was friendly but KIM (the lady who cut my hair) said this is what I asked for. Worst hair cut place in the world. I literally had to just tell her I've had enough when she asked if I wanted anything else. She proceeded to argue with me after I said it's not even close to what I wanted. KIM is the definition of stuck up, arrogant, and naive. Here. Take a look for yourself. The two pictures with longer hair are what I wanted. And the 3rd is what Kim gave me. She should not be allowed to cut hair let alone have any type of workplace responsibility elsewhere. Especially after arguing with a customer whose hair she completely ruined in an industry where the customer is always right. God bless her grandchildren assuming she has some. I have been going to the same stylist for 5 years or more now. Her name is Brook and she does a FABULOUS job! Every time I go get my hair done i always leave very pleased. I get countless compliments on my hair all the time! It's been about 2 months since I've been in to see her and I am still getting compliments! I have referred a lot of people to go see Brook and everyone I refer absolutely loves her! They become loyal like myself, not letting anyone else but Brook touch their hair. I had an appt at 6:20 on a Thursday night and it was with Claudia for highlights. Since this whole covid thing, we couldn't use the chair hair dryers so I had to wait to make sure my hair took to the bleach for about 45 min. Any who.... I thought the highlight was too blond and Claudia suggested she could tone it down a bit.. in doing so... She asked if I wanted it styled and being it was getting close to closing time, I said no, that's ok it's getting late I'm tired, she's tired I'm sure. But... Without further adue, Claudia loved how the colors looked and wanted to dry it and added some style to it and it was cold out. I will say I was a little skeptical about how my hair was going to turn out. I want to say I couldn't be any happier with how my hair turned out. I was referred here after having bad experiences at hair styling chains. I brought my son for a haircut a week before my wedding and had my eyebrows done. I was so impressed by the customer service and while I was there, I found out that the person that wAs going to style my hair for my wedding backed out, so I made an appointment for that. I was very nervous as I'm very picky about my hair. Amanda listened to what I was saying and wanted. Not only was my hair beautiful for my wedding, it also lasted the whole night. I used to think Hair Cuttery was a step up from Sports Clips, Cost Cutters, etc but still a step down from one of those $50 hair cut salons, etc. But I've had a few bad hair cuts from this place. I don't think mine are that difficult. 3 on the sides, finger length on top, messy style. Simple. I've never had a good experience at this location. Once I had some guy who smelled so bad of cigarettes that I felt it my lungs all day. Another time I had a girl who cut my ear. The stories go on. So no more for me. It was just the luck of the draw that I got her and she did exactly what I asked her to do. She listened and reflected back to me what my wishes for my hair were. I've been going here for a few years. I suppose I keep returning because I'm to lazy to actively seek another 'salon'. I've experienced everything- the good, the bad, and the 'are you really licensed to cut hair?' at this location. My last visit with my 2 yr old sealed the deal for me- I will no longer be returning here. He sits down in the chair, and the stylist asks me 'so just a little boys cut, then?'- as if there is a universal 'little boys cut' I'm missing out on. I tell her what I'd like her to do (complete with picture)- nothing fancy, I just wanted to make sure I was explaining it right- and after telling me she'll do what she can, she wets his bangs, combs them flat, and cuts it STRAIGHT ACROSS. (Think Jim Carrey in Dumb & Dumber). I sat silently horrified, knowing the rest of the cut was gonna be as bogus as that move, and it was. She acted like cutting my son's hair was an inconvenience, and it SHOWED. I won't be bringing him OR myself into this location anymore. If you DO get somebody who knows what they are doing- they are gone by the time you come back, probably for good reason.
