After a lackluster experience at one of the "fancy" salons over in Collingswood, I asked my new…read moreneighbors in Haddon Heights for advice. Hair Event won by a landslide, with tons of recommendations for multiple stylists. From my first conversation with a friendly receptionist who asked me about my hair and desired style in order to recommend a stylist, we landed on Chelsea who saw me for a consultation a few days later. She made me feel comfortable and confident in her skills, so I came back the next week for cut & color. Let me say - WOW - I am gorgeous after this service. The color match was spot on at the roots, she refreshed the color on the length without making the change too drastic (I wear an auburn shade and like to keep it a secret that it isn't natural - please don't tell!), and the cut & blowout were perfect. After 15+ years at Philly salons, I am pretty used to sticker shock after the works, but the price here was VERY reasonable by comparison for services that met or exceeded their city counterparts. While at first the idea of strip mall salon made me wrinkle my city snob nose, I'm so glad I got over myself and tried Hair Event.

How has no one reviewed this amazing place yet?!?! This is a…read morelittle hidden gem in this shopping plaza, it is deceiving because it doesn't look like much on the outside but inside it is beautiful and elegant. You walk in to be greeted by the reception desk and there is a nice lounge area to wait for your appointment, some candy to snack on and/or water, coffee, or tea. I book Shannon every time, she's amazing. I have gotten my hair cut from her at other places and follow her to wherever she goes and I love this new place. She had done the balayage to my hair back in May, it was the first time I had ever done any color in my hair and she helped calm my nerves. She said that if I didn't like it, we could easily change it back to my normal color. Well, there was no need for this because it was colored perfectly and here I am almost 6 months later with beautiful color (still) and a new haircut. Shannon puts perfect layers in my hair and blow dries it in a way that I wish I could have her do my hair everyday. The other employees are super accommodating. I had a guy wash my hair before I met with Shannon and he was so delightful. He grabbed me water and made sure I was doing alright the entire time I waited. He is also the barber for the shop. They have a makeup artist, as well as lash extensions which look beautiful on people. If I was a makeup girl, I would definitely get extensions, they're so popular and busy with that now. This is a great place to get your hair cut, done, colored, etc. for both guys and gals. The only thing I don't like about this place is that you can't tip on your card. I keep forgetting, but they have an ATM there for you if needed.

I said something numerous times and every time she tried to rectify it, it got worse. We left extremely upset and had to desperately find someone to help repair the damage that was done. 4 separate salons were shocked at what was done and saddened to see that an additional 4 inches needed to be cut to try and salvage her hair. It was supposed to be cut just below her bust and is now between her shoulders and chest area. Her hair was to her belly initially. Robert understood my thick hair and my haircut is fabulous. He kept the length but still cut a lot of hair so that my thick hair wasnt flooging out on the ends. What was supposed to be a conservative trim turned into a devastating, aggressive cut that saw literally half my hair gone.
