I was in the market for a new salon to help me maintain the color block hair style I had. I first…read moretried them in May 2023, and have been returning for touch-ups every other month. Unfortunately, I experienced a tremendous amount of breakage when I moved to Thrive Salon to maintain my color style, even with every intervention and variable that I was able to control myself. (Tons of hair masks, silk bonnets, only air drying, wide-toothed combs rather than brushes, regular haircuts, high end shampoo/conditioner for color-treated hair, changing shampoo/conditioner to another color-safe one, oil sprays... you name it). I kept up with 7 week appointments at my stylist's request to help "minimize damage", but it didn't seem to do anything but put me out of more money, and result in me having less hair. I was dilligent about asking my stylist to do a "breakage check" every time I sat in her chair to try to prevent this. She always said everything looked great. In November, during my normal appointment, I cited that I was noticing substantial breakage. I should have listened to my gut when my stylist responded to my concerns with a surprise, stating "you usually see that up here" while pointing to my scalp. (In hindsight... yikes.) Despite my concerns that day, she didn't seem to heed additional cautions or change her approach. On that same day I cited bad breakage, she lifted a new brunette section of my hair (at my request in a desperate attempt to keep my hair style) *extremely* fast. What normally needs 3 sessions to go from my brunette to our target shade of blonde she somehow achieved in 1 with my roots, and could do in 2 to my ends. She was both surprised and excited at "how light it got" during my wash out. It seemed like she never had full control over her color processing, and didn't even know what she was expecting it to do. Needless to say, all of that hair started breaking in the following weeks, plus other strands. When I went to another salon to get a haircut (I find their haircuts to be outrageously priced at Thrive), the woman shared her concern with me on the health of my hair. She even questioned if Olaplex was being left out of my mix. I didn't have an answer. This salon, despite the high price tag, also doesn't include a basic rough dry for color services to check their work. They let people paying nearly $200 for color walk out with sopping wet hair. The manager assured that a rough dry ("not blow out, that was extra") was normal for color, so stylists could check their work before the customer leaves, but I was handed a blow dryer by the rinser last visit to do it myself while my stylist moved onto another client entirely. She didn't even check on me or say goodbye. It felt wrong. I was paying ~$250 every 8 weeks but couldn't get a rough dry? I had to drive home with wet hair? Despite the poor outcome with their color service, I also observed that I was being charged different ways and different prices for my exact same service every time I went. I was never given a heads up about the price differences, and only found out at the register after my stylist had left. At one point, I was charged for a haircut that I declined in the chair. (Thankfully I noticed!) After I was rung up, I told the man at the desk, and he quickly said "oh, well you got your hair dried, so we have to charge you for a blowout". The price of the blowout helped them retain all of the mischarge for the haircut I never got. It felt very shady to me. (Remember how the rough dry was supposed to be included?) Generally, I find this salon to be very expensive for the skill I was shown. I thought the price I was paying for my color blocking was fair, but seeing that I had so much breakage, maybe it was over-priced like some of their other a la carte menu. ($75 for a *trim* is too rich for my blood.) I'm leaving an extra star despite my experience because when I did have a chance to speak with the salon manager, she was open to feedback, stayed true to her promises of when she would get back to me, and offered a refund for the past haircut/blowout fiasco I retold above. She understandably stood behind her staff, but I was disappointed that the stylist's word was always taken over the customer's. (I have no reason to lie about a service I didn't receive....) They also got me in quickly around the very busy holidays when I called and let them know more of my hair was breaking and I needed to come in to resolve it with my stylist. I appreciate them doing that for me. One last shoutout - Jen at the wash station was seriously a highlight of my experience. Love her and wish the best for her.

Seriously, it was great and i hadn't even gotten my hair done yet! When I came back for my appointment, despite the ORANGE that would NOT leave my hair, Rianna kept me optimistic and explained every step to make sure I would not be disappointed if the orange decided to sit in my locks forever. What made the experience truly enjoyable was the conversation. I've sat in my share of salon chairs, and many MANY times, your hair stylist wont talk to you or connect with you and get to know you, much less explain the process going on above your head. Rianna and her super kind assistant Abby were beyond friendly, got personal and candid about their lives and made me feel like I was amongst friends, which I was desperately in need of. Best part of all, the orange was CANCELED! They turned my orange hair into beautiful ashy silver hair. I nearly cried tears of joy. Everyone working there was super sweet, helpful and they act like a big family. The whole atmosphere just screams inclusivity and love, what more could you ask for? I can't wait for my follow up appointment and I could not be happier that I left my home and ventured to this place. No regrets and not a single negative comment.

As soon as i learned of your questioning I quickly addressed them with you privately noting that no she has never bitten anyone & that she is vaccinated & has paper work allowing her to be present. I do have a private room with a kennel if ever anyone has a concern. I would not put anyone in an unsafe position. You immediately interrupt me to tell me that im angry. My voice and tone was not elevated. In fact the 8 ppl within ear shot of this conversation were perplexed by your disposition. Your history of fighting with family neighbors and coworkers is something you've openly shared. That day it was my turn to receive your disrespect. After quietly waiting for you to voice your concerns i asked if you wanted to stay to receive the excellent 5 star perm & haircut "you can always count on" and you said "Yes". I then proceeded to begin the service you continued with your accusation of me. I removed your cape and towel thanking you for the years spent with me while notifying you that i will not be servicing you again. Perhaps you haven't encountered anyone creating a boundary to your behavior before? I hope you're kinder to your next stylist. Best wishes! Enclosed is a photo of my puppy Lola.

She made an appointment. Her appointment was at 2pm, she didn't get in the chair until 2:40pm. When I called to have this rectified, the only resolution offered was a "few strands" of blonde to be added. My daughter was lied to and taken advantage of. This is her $250 color with Travis. CENTER CITY LOCATION I went to Stephanie for color and a haircut, and was utterly disappointed. I came in with blonde hair and outgrown roots. I had previously spoken to Stephanie on IG with pictures of what my hair currently looked like and what I asked for: which was to stay mostly blonde with the smallest shadow root possible for low maintenance. When I came in Monday morning, I reiterated what I wanted and was sure to mention I wanted "definitely lighter, and brighter" blonde. I noticed that Stephanie only dyed some strands of my hair fully, while other strands had my ends hanging out of the foil. As I am not a hair stylist, I asked her if my ends would be dyed while she was washing my hair out. She responded, "what do you mean? If I did that, all your hair would fall off" in a condescending tone, as if I should have known better. Again, I know nothing about hair. As Stephanie proceeded to apply toner to my hair, she said to me: "Your hair is not cooperating. Your hair isn't doing what I wanted it to do," and rushed to get another mixture to add to my hair. At this point, I'm brought back to the chair and looked at myself through the mirror in shock: my hair looked almost BLACK. Stephanie proceeds to blow dry a portion of my hair, remaining silent, not speaking a single word. When she's finished, she says, "I don't know what happened. Your hair didn't do what I wanted it to. How do you feel about it?" Mind you, I came in as a blonde, wanting to be a lighter and brighter blonde with my roots touched up. You can imagine my disbelief when after 3 hours of bleach and dye, that my once light, blonde hair is now a dark, ash brown-- the complete opposite of what I asked for. I told her I didn't like it at all, and began to break down in tears. Stephanie tells me "I really don't know what happened. There's really nothing I can do to fix it but make your hair even darker. I don't feel comfortable doing anything else to your hair." At this point, my hair is completely dark brown all around, only a portion of my hair is blow dried (the rest still wet), it hasn't been cut, and I'm in the chair crying. Stephanie proceeds to walk away, and I'm left alone, crying for the next 15 minutes. NO resolution was offered. When Stephanie returns, the owner asks her what happened. Stephanie proceeds to tell her the steps she took, and ended with "I don't know what happened." Another 15 minutes pass by, and Stephanie comes back and asks if I want her to finish blow drying my hair to see how it looks. She finishes and tells me, "there's nothing I can do. Your hair just absorbed the toner." Again, Stephanie walks away. Another 5 minutes pass by and I ask her, "How are you going to fix this? Am I gonna be able to be blonde again?" She tells me, "Honestly, I don't know how long it would take. I don't want to give you the wrong answer." Note: it's been about 45 minutes since she finished the color, and blow dried a portion of my hair. She has NOT offered a solution. At this point, I've been in the salon for almost 4 hours. Once again, I press for a solution, asking Stephanie what can be done. Stephanie says, "maybe you can wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo and see if some toner comes out. Reach out to me over the weekend and we'll reevaluate what can be done." At this point, I've given up on the day and accepted that my hair has gone from blonde to brown. The same night, I direct messaged her on instagram, the same way I did to book the initial appointment. I asked Stephanie what I can do in the meantime to prep/repair my hair for it to be fixed as it is feeling very thin and dry. I also asked when/how often I should wash my hair. Stephanie opened my message, leaves me on "seen/read" and never responds. I would never wish this experience on anyone. I DO NOT recommend this place at all. They lack professionalism and concern for their clients' hair. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

Not only does she have the warmest spirit but lady knows what she's doing with curly hair! Loved it! Will be returning in 12 weeks for another trim and moisturizing mask that she recommended. My color was done by Elle. Lovely woman, we had a nice chat. So, I waited long to leave a review because I wanted to live in the color in both my natural curl state but then after straightening it. I love the color when my hair is curly. Like LOVE! She did a slight balayage with natural browns to not add bleach into my hair. It looked great curly. I then straightened it and I wasn't sure I loved it anymore. I gave it 2 more tries after straightening and I think it's growing on me. The color isn't bad at all, she nailed the color I wanted it's just, some of the color felt a little more obvious and blocky when straight then when curly and so it looked less natural with how it was laid out. Not sure that makes sense. Anywho, overall I like this salon. So glad I found it. Def recommend for a curly girl cut with Susan!
