I had a similar experience to a previous reviewer when I asked for curtains bangs/face framing layers. WAY TOO MUCH hair was chopped off and I am still growing it out a year later. I am probably another year away from it being where I need to be. I cried hard after this haircut and I haven't been to a professional since then (feb 2022). I have been going to this salon for about 5-6 years now, I go to NASHIRA. She always listens to me but will also give her recommendation as well and works with you to achieve your look. Also, when i go to her for a trim and ask for a 1" trim, she actually cuts of 1" (unless i need to trim more, she will educate me first). read more

Love my new haircut!! Nashira is a pro and knows exactly what she is doing. I changed my hair from a bob-cut to a straight cut with layers and honestly I couldn't think of a better person to do it with! The length she gave me is amazing and the texture she added is exactly what my hair needed. Nashira always listens to what you want and gives you her recommendation if you would like. After searching high and low for the three and a half years I've lived in the NoVA area for someone who would actually put in quality for fantastic brows instead of half-heartedly threading away, I was guided to Nashira at Hair by Yeon. Never before have my expectation been exceeded. She embodies everything you could ever want in a stylist: grace, professionalism, a confidante, and most importantly- an expert stylist. After going back a few times and the quality never once faltering, I also began seeing her for my haircuts as well. She is always very detailed as she genuinely listens and consults me before she even cuts a single lock. I got a 15-minute straight blowdry for $30+. It was my first time and it's close by my house, I was very very frustrated but of course couldn't say anything because I didn't ask for the price first. My hair is short (shoulder-length) and thin. This place is a RIP OFF. And I'd never come back. The owner (Korean lady) is not nice either, not friendly at all. read more

I don't usually write reviews but with the experience I had I figured I'd download the app and create and account and let people know my thoughts. I asked her for bangs and she took way too much hair and cut it. I went to a different salon and they told me it looked like a child cut it and not even students cut hair this bad. I now have to pin back 70% of my hair when I go out in public because there's a huge chunk of short hair in the front. She was upset with me and giving me attitude saying my hair was too damaged. She made me regret going there and for the price I paid I got terrible service and awful haircut. I referred a lot of friends and family who will all stop going there because of her service. read more

Clean salon. Offer water or coffee. Can't vouch for any of the other stylists, but Nashira is amazing. The first time I went to get highlights, I left feeling a little dissatisfied, because you could still see my brown roots. I explained to her the next time I went that I wanted them absolutely covered and she made it happen. She's very receptive, personable, and wants to make you happy. Nashira is excellent. I have waist-length hair and often argue with stylists over how much gets trimmed (I want less and they want to cut more). That has not happened with Nashira over several appointments. She may recommend cutting more, but what she actually cuts is what *I* want cut. My grandmother went here, my mother goes here and I now go here. The prices are the best in the area for the quality of service that you receive. My hair is definitely complicated. I can go to Coco La Rue or Daniels and spend at minimum $300. I went to the owner of Hair By Yeon, paid well below that and received so many compliments. I've been going here ever since I was a teenager and I recommend it to everyone. I don't trust anyone else with my hair. Even out of convenience because it's "close to my house". I believe the girl who wrote the other review for this place is a mere child who needs to stick to her SuperCuts. read more

DO NOT GO TO YEON!! Called for a same day appt - should have been my first clue they had one. I had a dark brown dye job (it pulled too much red) over a month ago and it was growing out. So I told the hair dresser (who is also the manager and owner) that I wanted highlights to lessen the red. She said she would do heavy highlights all over and I said make sure they were not white or yellow I wanted them a caramel color. I left in tears with my hair looking red and gray. I called back told her I hated my hair and she said come back in and she would put another toner on it I told her I did not want her touching my hair again and she said she could give me $62.50 back. Which was a 1/3 of what I paid ($165). BE CAREFUL ON WHO YOU CHOOSE TO COLOR YOUR HAIR!!! DO NOT GO TO YEON!! read more

I went in about a month ago to see what could be done about my violet colored hair, I want to go back to blonde. I was tired of the red and wanted it gone. My stylist was amazing at advising me on the best way to get rid of the red without stripping my hair. It took 2 separate appointments to achieve the look I was going for but it ended up being just what I wanted. read more

I never rate places on Yelp but this salon experience I had to warn others. First, the girl who did my hair, nishira or something like that, showed me swatches of what my hair would turn out like and I repeatedly asked her for confirmation that it would not be brassy or red-tinted. She said it wouldn't and sure enough it was extremely brassy. Instead of commiserating with me and trying to help, she argued with me over what she originally promised. Then, when trying to set up an appointment to go back and get toner added to it, she made all these ridiculous stipulations as to which days I could come back, limiting me to 1 day the entire week (after which you could not get the toner). After the toner I was still not happy with my hair as it was not anywhere near what I asked for and was promised. The manager inSisted that I come in yet again for her to take a look. I don't have the time to go back and forth to a salon that's far from me to begin with. They didn't seem to care about customer satisfaction whatsoever and for the price I paid, there was no real change to my hair and I am very unstAtisfied. My sister is a good regular customer who will no longer use their services either. Stay clear of this salon!!! They will mess up, dupe you and refuse to fix it. read more

I have been going to Yeon (the owner that "Ami M." referred to) for years and she has been wonderful. I consistently get a great haircut from her and she has always been good about giving me haircut recommendations based on the thickness of my hair, the way it grows in, etc. Furthermore, she is really sweet! She may seem reserved at first, but she is extremely nice and friendly. I trusted her to do my hairstyle for my wedding and I'll keep trusting her with my hair for years to come. read more

I have been to this salon three times since December 2013. Nashira has cut and styled my hair each time. I can really recommend this salon and Nashira. The salon is clean, neat, and professional. Nashira is one of the few stylists I ever been to that can cut a "bob" and get it right. She is pleasant but not too talkative; she concentrates on her work and I really appreciate that. I paid $45.00 for my wash, cut, and blow dry style. I think the prices are very reasonable for this area of Fairfax County. read more
