Anjalee is a true gem! She has that gentle, kind, professional pleasant thing about her that will make you feel at ease as soon as you'll enter The Sustainery! She owns the salon which is clean (during Covid times it is especially spotless and they take all required measures to ensure one can feel at ease as much as possible). It is airy, modern and just a great place to walk into. You'll have an amazing view of the Manoa mountains from there! Anjalee knows her stuff and is incredible especially when it comes to blonde highlights/ombré/melts. I have naturally dark hair but got cool blonde ombré that looks really natural because the transition is gradual and when it grows out it looks even better which means I can go months in between visits. Anjalee is awesome! Super easy to make an appointment, I messaged her on Yelp and got a response within the same day! She gave me her telephone number and I was able to text her a picture of my current hair and a picture of the hair color I was aiming for. She messaged me to confirm appointment and gave directions on where salon is and where to park. I walked so I didn't park BUT I was the first appointment in the salon and I was there from 9-2:30 and I overheard a few people say that they couldn't find parking but it looked like they had ample parking I opted in for a balayage and hair cut. I was torn between going dark or going light but I went light so it took a few hours or so. Do your research ladies on hair colors and styles you like, it will help a lot! Anjalee addressed all my questions and concerns from color, how to maintain it, what shampoo and conditioner to use. Has a very welcoming personality and easy to talk to! In my personal experience in researching a hair stylist on island, price was a huge factor for me. Anjalee will give you a quote if you are able to provide to her what you are trying to achieve. Though it hurt to spend what I did (saving for a wedding so money is tight!) it was worth it. Came here after being recommended by my eye brow specialist (Elizaveta). Been here twice now. Not only is Anjalee very nice and makes you feel comfortable (even when just first meeting her) but she can cut hair! In my younger days I'd easily drop $100+ to get my hair did at the fancy salons up and down CA. But then I realized it's not the name of the salon its the actual stylist that warrants the price. Because I do have a person that can bang out a solid cut for $40 and I have paid $100 for a medio haircut as well. So I know that for the hairstyle change I was looking for, I needed to go to someone who knew what they were doing. I didn't need a cut, I needed a style. Enter finding Anjalee! I wanted a significant change in my hairstyle and was cutting off quite a bit of hair. So I brought in some pictures of what I wanted and after she examined my hair and asked a few questions about my maintenance level (do I like to blow dry a lot, curl, etc), what she thought would look good with my face shape, we settled on a style. She nailed it! Not only did she give me a fantastic haircut but she showed me some really spot on EASY tips to keep up the style at home. I've gotten so many compliments on my haircut since I first saw Anjalee. What I like about her is her very easy going yet attentive vibe. I never felt rushed, or that she was distracted by other customers. Love Anjalee! Long overdue review. I booked an appointment with her through Yelp, and she responds in a timely manner. She even texts the day before your appointment to remind and confirm. I had balayage done and she got exactly what I wanted. I wanted an ashy brown/blond and she nailed it! She is also very thorough and patient while she does all those foils. Didn't miss a spot! 6 months later I went back for a touch up and haircut, amazing job as always! She's very nice too and makes sure you're comfy, know everything that's going on, and have everything you want while you have to painstakingly wait for the roughly 4 hour process. Parking: there a parking lot with a 20min parking sign. Ignore! Its okay to park more than 20mins. I was at the salon for 1 1/2 hour. Cost: I bought a $39 groupon which include haircut, deep conditioning, glossing treatment and blowdry ($105 worth without groupon). After all these she charged me $5.73 including tax for tip. Since she did a very good job, I added more tip! :-) Haircut: my hair was 20in long. I asked her to cut 10in (for locks of love) then do a layered. I really like my layered a lot! I didnt take a pic cuz i have a big zit on my lower lip LOL but trust me it was great! Deep Conditioning and Glossing Treatment: it was really good. She took time to massage my head and neck...not too soft...not to hard...just right ;-) i almost fell asleep LOL Overall: the experience felt like $105 not $39 :-) Anjalee herself: my appointment was supposed to be last week but she cancelled. She left a message 2hrs before the appointment and apologize about the cancellation. I was a little disappointed but when i came today she was very apologetic. :-) Same as her head message ... shes not too chatty...not too quite...just right :-) Basically shes very nice and pleasant :-) Would i recommend her to you?? Anjalee is the best--she listens to what you want, is honest with what she can do, and cares about your hair. My hair is naturally warm, and, of course, I wanted cool blonde tones. This was my first cut, color and style with Anjalee and I am SUPER impressed by her skills and professionalism. She took my hair which I thought was beyond repair (really bad cut and color which I'd been growing out for sometime) and made it look alive and gorgeous! I was searching for a place to get balayage done for the first time. I have THICK Hawaiian hair so I was looking for someone who I thought might be able to work with it. After reading reviews and looking into a bunch of places I decided to go with Anjalee. I absolutely loved her! She was professional and made me feel comfortable the whole 3 hours lol.
