Seated promptly and the drink order was taken quickly. The entrees came out fresh and delicious. I love all the dogs and how dog friendly it is! I will definitely be back.

As we pulled in to this very quaint town of Oberammergau, we had some time to kill before we could check in to our hotel, so we decided to walk around the town and find some place to eat our late lunch. There were many open tables for outdoor dining when we got here. Food...it was just OK for me. I was really looking forward to enjoying some good Bavarian cuisine. Perhaps my expectations were too high having read some very good reviews prior to coming here. I had Hafner Schnitzel in mushroom sauce with Schwäbian noodles (spätzle). You just can't go wrong with the house special, can you? It was good, but it wasn't great--it wasn't the best I had. Especially the sauce was on the salty side for me. Noodles were good. Schnitzel had a light flour coating...a little tough cutting with a table knife. My wife had some fish and potato salad. Fish looked like it came out of a frozen food box. Oh yeah, she got that since they ran out of the lunch special...they should've taken down the sign if the food was already out. Service...varied among servers. The lady who sat us down was very friendly and courteous. The server who brought us food was sort of rude--after receiving our orders, she came back, put the menu on the table and said, "You need to change your food," referring to aforementioned daily special being out. Something must've gotten lost in translation. Oh well, it's another place I don't have to go back since there are so many choices in this town.

We visited here a week before Christmas and the town was sleepy, with some recommended restaurants closed so we had to look for an alternative. We found Hafner Stub'n and had a GREAT meal. We ordered pretzel (it was okay), potato soup (very good), and sauerkraut soup (amazing!). I ordered beef with a potato dumpling red cabbage. It was all delicious. We were fortunate enough to make it before a rush of folks with reservations came in, so check ahead if you want to secure a table.

Oberammergau is a village located ~60 minutes South of Munich. It is famous for its Passion Play that is performed every 10 years. Summer 2020 will be the next cycloe of plays. It is also a village with a lot of quaint homes and businesses that have bemalte Hause (painted houses). It is a tourist stop for many tours, so expect to see a lot of tour busses and tourists from all over the world. We decided to have lunch at Hafner Stubn. It was a good choice. Being a weekday, the restaurant was not too crowded and we were able to get a nice table outdoors. Service was great. Our group of four each had a different main course; Wienerschnitzel, Meat and Cheese board, Swine Haxe, and Spagel and Avacado salad. Everyone enjoyed their selections. Overall a very nice restaurant for lunch.

We had our dinner at the restaurant inside the Wolf hotel on our last night stay in Oberammergau. We wanted something real Bavarian. We asked a couple of local people and it was their recommendation. We ordered a side salad, white sausage, veal dish and hot red wine. They were very delicious. Staff there spoke English and friendly. Must be very dog friendly environment and so many dogs staying there with their owners at the hotel. Wished our furry babies were here with us. Highly recommend this restaurant.

    No crispy skin! :(

2.5 stars. - Food 2, service 3 I had the schweinshaxe. The skin was not crispy at all. Not properly rendered. It was rubbery and fatty and I peeled it back because it was unappetizing! The meat was rubbery, not tender. It was well seasoned. But in all I did not eat it all. Great that they have a small portion (about 12 Euros. Gravy was great. The dumpling (bread and egg) was very dense, not a lot of flavor alone. The cabbage salad is light and fresh. Service is good, so is the very clean bathroom.

We ended up in Oberamerrgau at about 3pm and trying to find a Bavarian reataurant still serving lunch was pretty hard and we ended up here. After 2:30 pm they only have a Klienemenu which means that the choices are small and limited. We ordered off this menu and I had a Kassuppe which is an Allgauer specialty and a soup made with cheese, cream, mushroom and some other ingredients. The soup was packed with flavours and tasted divine and I would give the soup 5 stars :-)) The rest of the food was ok and nothing special. The grilled sausages I had with sauerkraut was ok and it was nothing special. One of our friends had Schwinebraten and again he said it was ok. The service here is friendly and prompt and the prices are also reasonable. There is a hotel above the restaurant but cannot comment on the accommodation as we have never stayed here before. Given the choice I would go next door to this place for food and there is a fantastic Bavarian restaurant just 30m away.

Everything was great... from food, beer and desserts. Great customer service. The server speak English and recommended the best beer. The place is easy to find and their outdoor seating is nice. We'll definitely come back someday and will recommend this place to our friends and family.

Waiter was so rude. Very unfortunate for a tourist town that is so pretty. The food was ok, just not a great experience.

The pre-dinner shots were a treat. The Roast pork and the red fish was good. Dessert of meringue cream was delicious and not too heavy.

We had the beer-fried cheese as an appetizer; it was a good comfort food. I had the veal schnitzel which came with a cornmeal coating. I am not sure the cornmeal coating worked as it was more crunchy than crispy (1 star off), but the veal was tender and seasoned well. My husband got the bratwurst with sauerkraut. The ground meat to make bratwurst in Bavaria is more homogeneous and smooth than that in the U.S.; I liked the texture and flavor. I left still feeling the same about Bavarian food unfortunately, but this place gave me a bit more optimism.

The waitstaff is really friendly and accommodating to foreigners who don't speak German. They have an English menu too which is great. Everything my party ordered was amazing! There was no food left on the table once we were through. I ordered the roasted salmon and it was amazing. So flavorful and fresh tasting. My husband ordered the salmon pasta and that was really delicious as well. They have plenty of seating indoors and even have a kids seat. I highly recommend if you're in the area. I'll definitely be returning again if I'm ever in town.

He was very funny and interacted with the kids right away. After ordering our drinks, he sat next to my son in the booth and started doing magic tricks. My husband and I found it hilarious, while our 4 yr old was mystified. The kids loved their Mickey and gang cups (it's the small things in life). The menu was huge with lots of options. We ordered goulash for starters. SO GOOD! The kids had noodles, which my daughter devoured. I had Jagersnitzel which was also amazing. The portions are HUGE. After being in Germany for a couple months, I have to say this has been the best German I've had since being here. Mixed with the ambiance and entertainment, I'd go back again and again! You won't be disappointed!

Everyone in our group enjoyed their food so I don't think you can make a wrong choice from the menu. The owner came over and did three magic tricks. One assisted by a young girl who was celebrating her birthday and her brother. The magician explained the trick afterwards to them and us, but the other two tricks he did not and we couldn't figure them out. He was very good and had an excellent sense of humor. Definitely make a reservation or you may not get to eat! Well worth a visit, especially if you have kids. The owner/magician speaks several languages so he can entertain everyone. Give it a try, you won't regret it!
