I would give 0 stars if I could. I really wish I checked reviews beforehand but I was in a bit of a rush. I ordered off uber eats, it was listed as Hadi restaurant. The rating was 4.0 so I figured it wouldn't be too bad especially considering you can't go wrong with Indian food. Well you can. I was lured in with the BOGO deals on Ubereats which turned out to be a bait! The entrees came in extremely small portions and with no rice! I've been to many Indian restaurants and never seen portion size this small and felt off with no rice considering the pictures showed rice. The food was also cold, as if it was sitting out for a long time. Yeah, that made sense considering it's a banquet hall. I feel so deceived that they were playing off banquet food that was possibly leftovers from a banquet or sitting out for a long time as freshly cooked restaurant food. The food was cold, stale, and worst of all it didn't even taste good. The chicken biryani was all spice but no good flavor. Just spicy. The butter chicken was practically flavorless AND I FOUND A PIECE OF HAIR. The mango lassi was also soo tart and sour, I wonder if it was also left out and possibly soured. One might think 3am is an odd time to be in search for South Asian food, but it's NYC and you know all sorts of occurrences happen! Mate brought food from here back after a late night out while I was tucked in bed. Next day, I munched on the samosas for breakfast and was impressed with the flavor! I was told wait till I try the chicken, and boy did it not disappoint! The skewer chicken tandoori was delicious, even reheated in the microwave when it could so easily dry out. All the other dishes I don't think I can review in all fairness cause it was leftovers over the next few days. I'm hoping to bump this up a full star once I try the hot and fresh versions of the dishes. Came here for Desi food on a craving - my other place wasn't open yet, but I really wanted some Chicken Makahani (butter chicken). Luckily, I saw that this place had a lunch special and a buffet-style counter. Sadly, they were all out of the butter chicken so I opted for the Chicken Biriyani, garlic naan, and samosa instead which came out to $10. It came with two yogurt sauces and an aluminum foil wrapped bundle of cold potatoes and chickpeas. The garlic naan and the potatoes were great, and I really enjoyed the yogurt sauce as a balance to the biriyani. I'm used to biriyani with raisins in it so was a bit disappointed when I didn't taste them in there, but the flavours were authentic to what I had in my time in the Middle-East with a large South Asian population. The biriyani was a bit spicy for my liking, but the rice was the perfect consistency and the chicken was succulent enough. I'll be coming back to try the Makahani. read more

Went there 2 weeks ago for a a family friends wedding event. Food messed up 90% of the guests stomachs. The awning still shows a cellphone store some ghetto stuff. Food was cold, they did not have coke who drinks mountain dew . Barely had cups bathroom smelled better then the hall it's self. As soon as you walk in, you're surrounded by good, delicious food from the south asian subcontinent. Their customer service was on point too and for me personally it sucks because this place is a bit far from my house, otherwise I'd be a regular here... Great Shammi Kababs, fresh naan, channey and biryani. Look fwd to returning and trying other great offerings but before anything their FALOODA is one of my most favorite desserts in NYC. Cannot express how how good they are. It was appropriately warm (which is hard when the delivery comes from 5 miles away). So tender. So well spiced. 2) The Dahi Bhale (or Bhalla if you want to search for the dish online) : This is the Pubjabi/Pakistani version of something I am very familiar with in South India. I'm sorry, I don't normally apologize before a review but the staff at this restaurant is really nice, and the restaurant looks nice compared to other similar restaurants within the same area, but the food was no good. The food was tasteless, actually everything tasted the same. I ordered cows foot stew and a plate of curry lamb, both came with a side, I got an order of naan and rice. Everything tasted the same and it was flavorless, literally the Naan, the rice, the lamb, the cows foot all tasted the same... how is this possible?!! The place look very popular among the Pakistani community, there was a private wedding going on in the back of the restaurant, and the tables were full of diners. I used to come here all the time. The food is cheap, but the quality of the food and customer service has gone down hill... There's 1 employee that is extremely rude and arrogant. In the past, I've walked in and didn't see anything I liked, so I quietly left. The employee started yelling at me and harrassing me. In front of other customers he started asking me if i "lost my appetite". This is very unprofessional. The other day, I ordered my food to go. The food was mediocre, extremely oily and the "meat" was mostly bones and fatty pieces. When I got home and opened up my salad and samosa, the salad was wilted and soggy, the samosa had mold in it. Just unacceptable. I doubt they would eat this or serve it to their friends and family, so I don't know why they think it's okay to sell it to a paying customer. I have a hard time believing this place has a desi chef. Biryani is a staple food for us. Bad biryani is blasphemous. You can't just add orange and yellow coloring to white rice, throw in a few pieces of chicken and call it biryani. Where is the flavor? My biryani was completely bland. A friend who lives in Brooklyn suggested we have dinner here as she would value my opinion on the place. Her favorites being the kheer (rice pudding) and the Kashmiri chai. Chicken biryani was ok but readers of my other reviews know my preference for a proper dum biryani cooked in a pot instead of a large tray ready cooked, served into a platter and then microwaved. What impressed me is that the dish was dry and when I asked for gravy a generous portion was happily provided without being added to the bill. Sadly some South Asian places pull a face and rush to add it to the check first. The tandoori roti was crisp but again didn't have the tandoor flavor so not quite up to the standard of Haandi in Lexington Ave. Seekh kebabs weren't bad but nothing outstanding. The best kebabs should have that melt in the mouth quality and if any readers get a chance to visit the Sheraton New Delhi in Saket and order the lamb kebabs then you'll know what I mean. If Yelpers know where you can find that quality do add a comment, NYC, NJ, Hicksville, just haven't found that so far. Kheer is a matter of personal taste. Personally I prefer the Indian style with the rice pudding and dry fruits subsumed in a light milk sauce. The Pakistani style that my friend prefers is a more gloopy texture, almost pieces could be cut. In no establishment however upscale have I found the taste even close to home where my Mum packs it with nuts, dry fruits and Spanish saffron from the Murcia region. Again fellow Yelpers do let me know. Washed it down with the Kashmiri pink chai, this did contain a generous portion of mostly almonds. Personally I prefer the doodh pati chai of Raja Sweets or Haandi but my friend likes this the best so again I won't say anything was wrong with it, just not to my personal taste. Would I visit again, possibly; the man behind the counter was pleasant. On the other hand so many more places to explore and so little time. read more

Honestly the most authentic spot i have come across in the last few years! Having being raised in Pakistan for 12 years, living in London for another 12 I have toured my fare share of desi fares ("all encompassing native things :)" . The main issue with your run of the mill regular 'Indian restaurants' is that they pre make all the sauces (korma, tandoori, Karachi etc..) and then add your choice of meat to it afterwards. That not only ensure that the meat/ vegetable is tastless but takes away from the authenticity of the dish. These guys are doing it right. Cooking the karahis for hours, marinating the meat with the correct blend of spices (no adjustments are made to cater to the 'white crowd') so you know what your paying for! Spiced well, with actual pieces of spices in the food. Great food, great value, pleasant service.
