This restaurant was the best place to eat for our whole vacation. We stayed at the Royal Sands, which is just across the parking lot and after finally getting reservations to the Hacienda Sisal we were very impressed. They have indoor or outdoor seating. The grilled fish was delicious, so good that I got it twice. German, our waiter, was very hospitable and friendly and had great dinner recommendations. The food was delicious, everything we eat was so tasty, and we had such a good time that we returned for a second night! You should definitely come to this restaurant if you are visiting the area and hopefully you can get German who was a wonderful waiter. This location is great for anyone staying at Royal Sands resort. It's located on the property. Sisal offers traditional Mexican food and has a lot of tequila based drinks. I was very excited to try the mezcal drinks. I tried 2 of the mezcal drinks and was not impressed. I did not finish either of those drinks. Their was too much mixed and not enough mezcal. The drink tasted watered down by the mixers. Excellent presentation of the drinks. However, it's probably ideal for most resort patrons. The food seemed fresh and well made, however could have used a bit more spice and a few people at the table agreed that the food was a bit bland. There is AMAZING live music. The singer is one of a kind. Again. Come for the food, stay for the music. Outdoor seating is nice, but could get a bit noisy. This is by far my favorite restaurant in Cancun. The food is excellent. The wait staff is fantastic and the ambience is nothing short of welcoming and warm. We only had seven nights in Cancun and we chose to return here to eat a second time during this trip. Are lotta good restaurants in Cancun so to get us back there a second night in one vacation, it has to be pretty special. Ridiculously overpriced with pretty good food and a cute ambience with good service but 2 to 3 times more expensive than Mexican restaurants in the US and the same quality. I got the chicken fajitas everything was great although the blue tortillas were stuck together and torn apart, and the beans were a small portion and cold. I feel like for the prices they are charging they could easily give complementary chips and salsa which they do in the US. I won't be returning due to the fact that they are price gouging here for tourists and I'm not sure how they keep clientele. They come off as an exclusive place that if you don't have a reservation you need to wait, but there is absolutely nothing more special here than every single Mexican place I've ever eaten at in the US including chains. read more

I truly have no clue how this place has the reviews that it has. When you come to Mexico you expect real and authentic food with lots of love and insane flavor. If that's what you want, you won't find it here unfortunately. For our last night, we decided that we wanted to try this place out as many people staying at the Royal Sands had good things to say about this restaurant. To start off, we made a reservation but honestly you didn't need to, it's a pretty big restaurant and can hold lots of people. Now if there is a show maybe get a rezzie but in our case, no show was had. We were started off with a complimentary salsa trio and chips. These chips were beyond unauthentic and so terrible but we were starving and were obligated to eat them. We ordered their guacamole which was made table side in a fake molcajete. There were no spices or seasoning added even after we requested and again- paired with the bad chips. My boyfriend ordered the steak burrito which he enjoyed and no complaints. My dad ordered the steak and chicken fajitas which were a joke. The skillet was not sizzling as it usually is anywhere else, protein was warm, no side condiments, and the tortillas were awful. He was not happy but he was starving so it was tolerable. Now for the best part- my mom and I ordered the red chicken enchiladas with a side of beans and rice. The plate of food came out so cold we could not believe it. The plate itself was cold, the inside of the enchilada wasn't even warm and the side of rice didn't even feel cooked. We immediately got the waiters attention to get it sent back and expected a new plate to be made. Assuming was our first mistake as they took the old food that was all picked over from us evaluating it and put in the MICROWAVE to warm up. We about fell out of our chairs. My mom and I were so beyond mad we didn't even want the food but the manager insisted that we wait for a whole new plate which was to be expected the first time!! As everyone was done eating and my mom and I waited again, the food was delivered. We were so over it and couldn't believe that an establishment would do such a thing. We barely ate any of it, it was so mediocre. The tab came and we thought maybe it would be taken care of, but absolutely not. This place is over priced, unauthentic, and comical to say the least. We started with the table side guacamole, which was outstanding without being salty. Then we ordered sangrias all around - very good. By the time we tasted our sangrias, the mariachi band had fired up and they were playing LaBamba and an older couple were out dancing!! Fajitas are generally a protein meat and vegetables cooked and served on hot iron skillet/ platter ~ Fajitas arrive to the table sizzling hot accompanied with warmed tortillas and condiments such as guacamole, pico de gallo, queso, salsa, shredded cheese etc ... Best restaurant on the grounds of The Royal Sands! We didn't have reservations but the front hostess was nice enough to get us a table! Service was attentive and the food tasted pretty legit. We had the little pork sopas and I recommend that to start with. Skip the Aztec soup and the queso. It's not the same queso as we know back in the US. The hubby was extremely happy with his Carnitas and said it was the best thing he has eaten on this trip! The chicken enchiladas are the great and there was a night the hubby wanted to cut back on meat so he had the veggie enchiladas, which he loved (2 days later in a togo box)! I loved the strawberry margs! The churros were a hit for dessert and our son was a happy camper with his vanilla ice cream! We will definitely return! This large Mexican restaurant is located in the Hotel Zone on the main strip. It's an attractive place, but the acoustics are terrible--it sounds as loud as a bus station. The food is OK, but not incredible. Service was decent. This restaurant was not a fan favorite. We opted here on last night of vacation so we could have Mexican faire. We made reservations on open table Although we had email confirmation the hostess couldn't find reservations. It didn't seem to matter since it was not crowded. This should have been indicator. We started with a mango margarita, traditional margarita , one lemonade. We started with the queso fundito with chorizo . Cheese was toasted and hot at one point but not before it came to our table it was solid gelatinized mass. We also opted for flautas, and guacamole. We had various different entrees including mole enchilada, cochinita pibil, specialty chicken dish with mushrooms. Flauta's for entree as well as fajitas. Every dish came out and was room temperature to cold. It was not busy so we couldn't understand that . They were rushing us during dinner as they kept trying to clear plates away as we were still having dinner. The enchiladas were mole con pollo and I bit in to two bones .... that was not fun. All in all the price was 140.00 not including tip for entree , appetizers, one round of drinks and 2 desserts. Keep on traveling down the road there are way better places in the hotel zone. read more

This seems to be a very popular spot on the strip. We had actually tried to make reservations and they had told us they were booked. We showed up anyway and it turns out they were actually quite empty and they had only been taking reservations taking into consideration the capacity they have to maintain for covid. In any case, our group of eight ladies enjoy dinner and drinks here on our final night of our Cancun trip. The place is beautifully decorated and it was perfect atmosphere for our group who were dressed up. I got their carnitas which were great, but this place stands out to me for their Golden Margarita. I'm not really a fan of frozen fruit margaritas. I like to be able to taste the flavors of the tequila and this was perfection. Totally the highlight drink of my trip. read more

We were pretty excited to check this place out to say the least. There aren't many Mexican restaurants in the hotel zone so after learning about this place, we were stoked to check it out. This place reminds me a lot of an El Torito back in the states with the ambiance and decor. The service was decent and you can definitely call this a fancier-Mexican establishment. It's definitely pricey and I think it's on par or even more expensive than your Mexican restaurants in the US. We started off with an aguachile tostada and guacamole. It was my first time having it and I thought it was interesting. It's basically a big chip with shrimp ceviche on top. The lime juice is very strong and gives off a very pungent taste. The guacamole is prepared table side which is pretty neat. You definitely pay for the experience of watching them make it in front of you. I thought the guacamole was good though...you can't ever go wrong with guacamole. For our mains, we got the green enchiladas and the patron special fajitas (arrachera, chicken and shrimp). The enchiladas were decent. There was a good amount of chicken inside the enchilada but I didn't think the dish was anything to write home about. The side of rice was pretty dry. The fajitas was alright as well. I thought the chicken was dry and the arrachera was okay. The onions and bell pepper blanketed the bottom of the meats which made the dish a little disjointed. The presentation and preparation could've been better. In all, Hacienda Sisal is a higher-end Mexican restaurant that is without a doubt catered towards tourists. The food quality is average and if you want Mexican food, you can definitely find better places for a lot cheaper. read more

Hacienda Sisal seems to be connected to the nearby Sandals resort, so it may be a best option for folks staying through packages. We happened over there while looking for dinner. The service was exceptional. They make quite a display of special events (think sparklers) and their drinks include a coffee cocktail where they pour fire. Definitely high on the theatrics. The food was solid, but far less exciting than the drinks. We had the fajitas and it was the first time I've ever had fajitas served on a cold plate. They tasted good, but the veggies and meat didn't have the sizzle you'd expect. The shrimp was the best, followed by steak and chicken. We also got the Pibil which was a bit disappointing because it's really just a bowl of slow cooked meat. I'd expect it to come with tortillas or some kind of side. The flavors were good, but there were also some large chucks of fat and skin that we didn't love. As mentioned, the drinks were the star of the show - I had a strawberry mojito with fresh berries and tequila instead of rum. It was delicious! read more
