I never though I'd find a place I liked sitting down for a meal at as much as I like Ooka, but this place is right up there in quality and flavor. It's smaller and more intimate for starters and The decor is fairly simple and tasteful. The rolls we ordered were marvelous! When this place opened I thought it was too good to be true, to have a decent sushi place so close to my house I could walk there. Well I was wrong. This place has unbelievable sushi! It's seriously so good and up there with some of the best I've had in Philly. Great service! We got their live uni because they didn't have any.... dead? Uni left but it was good. The only problem was that the red fish eggs on the side tasted like wet rag, therefor we could not take another bite from it. My wife does not eat sushi; she loves the Pad Thai here (best in the area). You cannot beat this place in price for the quality of the food and atmosphere, so it's definitely worth your while it to give them a try. For starters the little neck clam miso soup is very delicious. We ordered the mixed seafood yaki noodle dish which had mussels, scallops, shrimp, calamari, and clams. It was soooooo good I wished we ordered two. We also ordered two rolls--the king crab with mango sauce, and the lobster with smoked salmon. Neither one disappointed. We've come for lunch both times. I have ordered take-out twice from Hachi over the course of quarantine and both times it has taken over two hours to get my food. When you submit the order it does not give you a pick-up time, so then you have to try and get ahold of them, which is very difficult when their phone lines are always busy. On Friday, I called about 45 minutes after placing the order and was told (pretty rudely) they would call me when it was ready. An hour and a half after placing my order, I called again and was told it would be ready in 5 minutes, so I left my house and went to pick it up. When I got there, the order was not ready and I was told to wait another 20 minutes (30+ minutes after being told it would be ready in 5 minutes). The sushi itself is delicious, but the customer service and wait time is extremely unprofessional. If you want your food by the time you're hungry, I recommend calling your order in 2 hours ahead of when you are planning on eating. read more

The ambiance was stylish and relaxing and the manager Chris was great. They get fresh fish in every day and it shows. The fish in the display at the bar were glistening and the o-toro looks amazing. Ok. Let me start by saying how much we loved Sachi when they opened and how overjoyed we were to have such a phenomenal sushi spot close by...no drive to philadelphia! That being said, tonight was a mess. They were short staffed on a Saturday night, and an hour and forty-five minutes into our time there, we still hadn't received our main course. Things happen, I get that, but a response of, oh well everyone is waiting tonight, is totally inappropriate. How about, I'm so sorry what can I do for you? Ultimately we asked for our sushi "to go", we had children waiting to be picked up, and they took 20% off the bill, thank you. Not the experience we had hoped for, but we will give it one more try. Ordered $100 combo. The quality was slightly better than what you would get from chinese buffet places. What made the experience even worse was that the servers were extremely unpleasant and constantly hovering around the table making me feel rushed. Walking in to Hachi I felt a modern and hip style wash over me. The décor is very inviting even though the prices would say otherwise. For a price guideline the shrimp tempura roll is $8. That's not too bad but I have gotten just as good sushi for half the price. The lighting is on the blue spectrum and gives a nice calming aspect to the whole place my pulse dropped to 60 and I think it's just from the calming environment. I also ordered the tuna and salmon sashimi. The tuna was very creamy in texture and delicious. The tuna on the other hand was a melt in your mouth experience, both fish were very fresh. Also the soy sauce ginger and wasabi was all exceptionally good and very flavorful. They have no extreme overpowering flavors just the original flavors of the wasabi root and the non overpowering tast of picked ginger. Conclusion: Over all my whole experience was great the only downside is the portions are a bit small and a bit pricey. Rating solid 4/5 very good job. read more
