Went to Marshall's to do some Christmas shopping and was surprised how many different sections they…read morehad. I find a lot of great gift items, clothes, and often perfume and bags but not good cosmetics. Majority of the cosmetics are handled poorly, 75% broken or not sealed properly in packaging to be hygienic enough to be sold. Kind of gross honestly . I would avoid makeup purchases here anyways because of the possibility of them being expired, if they weren't already all opened and broken or handles so rough and just laying in piles . I found tons of palettes in packages but upon further inspection they were broken inside too. However, was excited to see that they have such a large selection of workout clothes and most everything was marked clearly to figure out pricing. Will have to come back after holidays to see if cosmetics section is any better.

Marshalls is a discount retailer that specializes in last years designer brands with discounted…read moreprices. They get new shipments of different items several times a week, so if you see something you like there, it might not be around in a week or two. I have found decent prices on dress shirts, ties, shoes, workout clothing, and jeans. Located near Kohls just off of Yankee Hill Road. Marshalls is attached to Homegoods and you can walk between the two stores inside. Hard to find anyone working except up at the checkout lanes but that shouldn't be a problem most of the time.

I'm not a big Wal-Mart fan to begin with, but they do carry some things I cant find anywhere else…read more Yesterday, I entered the store in a pretty good mood, but I left furious. I purposely used a manned checkout stand, to be a little politically correct: protecting jobs, and all that. I had a couple of calendars I wanted to give as Christmas gifts set apart to keep them safe. First thing the checker did was allow the conveyor belt to mangle them. That might have been my fault. I get that. But the checker clearly was not worried about any damage and just wanted me out of there. There was a little bit of a gouge on the front of one of them, so I pulled over to the side after checking to make sure they were ok, and that I shouldn't return them immediately. I decided the damage wasn't with worrying about, as I needed to get home. As I started out the door, I was selected by some sort of security person to check my cart against my receipt. She was particularly concerned that I might have shoplifted a couple of bags of squirrel corn. Really? I'm going to go to jail for squirrel corn? F you people. You're lucky I compromised my political beliefs to walk into your damn store at all. I won't make that mistake again.

The lady came up and at first, I thought she was being nice and holding a conversation with me. Then out of nowhere she asked if I had scanned an item, then continued to eye everything that my partner was scanning as I bagged them. I hold 3 degrees (up to masters) and hold myself to a high degree. I do not appreciate the racial profiling of this lady. I wish I had got her name... she was a Caucasian older lady with glasses. I know that this city is not very inclusion friendly, but Walmart needs to do better. It's corporate and not a private institute.
