Every time I walk into the store, they greet me with a smile, ask how I am doing and if I need help with anything. Some workers even ask how my dog is doing by his name. I wish I could give this place more then 5 stars for this hidden gem pet store! I stopped here on my way up to a veterinarian hospital, and i couldn't have been more pleased! The owner Karen was so kind and generous. Helping me, but more importantly my cat- Mars. We went through multiple beds for Mars to try in her new cat carrier, until we found the best one! Hooked me up with 20% off treats (always on tuesday, they call it treat tuesday) The store had great deals and a wide variety of toys, leashes, food, treats and a lot more for many animals! We have several cats - one of which we adopted from H3. They maintain their connection with local shelters and house sitters good with pets, along with providing a room for adoptable cats. We adopted Sonni, who is allergic to everything except pure turkey - which I can purchase only at H3. He developed this allergy after living a feral's life in Ansonia for about 2 years and a year after adoption. Last night I was eating pizza with a fan blowing in his direction while he lay next to me, and he sneezed for hours after inhaling the aroma. My bad - who knew? But there are no other local stores who have the stock and knowledge to help with these issues. They have the snacks, toys, quick medical care, nail cutting, extensive dry and wet food and staff who can help any needs you or your animals might have. Sonni is probably the most developed, communicative, loving and sneezy soul I've ever had the privilege of sharing life with (except my husband). This place is a treasure. read more

I bought cheese and bacon stuffed beef bones at their recommendation. Our big boys (55 lbs) really love to chew and have been bored with this lousy weather. Three days later the boys are still chomping away trying to get at the remainder of the cheese. Their prices are the same or better than Chewy and Amazon and you get to support a local business ! read more

An FYI for anyone considering going to their nail trim events in the future: My dog's nail was badly cut and clipped causing a lot of blood from her quick within her nail. She also had to wear a muzzle which she has never worn before. We have never had an issue with the nail clipping events, but something was definitely not right today. Only 2 of her paws were done as a result of this. Waste of time. Groomer skill level is not what it used to be. read more

Great family business! Very knowledgeable and friendly happy to always help with anything you might need. You can tell they have a love for animals and their customers pets! Know a lot about guinea pig experienced owners and will also cut their nails there. I found prices to be reasonable slightly cheaper. read more

They have healthy foods and treats for pets. So pretty much the opposite of what you find in the grocery store. They are expensive but it is worth it to know you are promoting a healthy lifestyle for your pet and in the long run drastically saving on vet bills. The employees are friendly, useful and the owners are on site frequently. They remember you! Even if you come in without your dogs, lol. This the best pet supply store you will go to. They have a great selection of everything you need for dogs and cats. They even have a bird, rabbit and small animals/reptile supplies. They work with different rescue organizations and hold adoptions out of their store for those groups. Lisa, Cindy and their staff are extremely knowledgable about the products they carry and animals in general. Lisa also does nail trims for a $10.00 fee that goes to a rescue group. She is extremely gentle and caring with animals. Highly recommend H3 for all your pet needs! read more

Zero stars for customer service. Probably the 2 rudest most unfriendly people I have ever (tried) to talk to on the phone. Horribly rude.

A month ago we found a mom and 3 kittens in our backyard. After asking our neighbors if the cats belonged to them with no luck, we decided to call our local animal control. They gave us a contact here at H3 Pet Supply to call about the cats. I called and spoke to the contact I was given, and I was asked to send pictures which I did right away. We had a friend that was interested in two of the kittens, but we wanted to make sure that all of the cats found a home, which was all explained when I called. The text conversation that followed that initial call was not very professional, and they kept saying they were going to take the kittens and not the mother. That should have been my first clue. When it came time for the cat and her kittens to be picked up, all 3 of them needed the home because our friend ended up not being able to take the 2 they wanted anyways. They came to set up the traps for the cats by pouring a soft liquid type of food all over our yard, the cages, and finally leaving the rest in a paper dish inside the traps. The trash was never disposed of, just left around our yard. The mother cat was easily trapped because although we fed her a little to make sure the cats were nourished, she was still very hungry. They came to see if the kittens had been caught, and upon finding our they were not, attempted to RIP APART our fence to get to the kittens. When my fiancee asked them in an angry voice what they were doing and to stop ripping apart our fence apart, the response was that it was broken anyways. Broken or not, that is our property he replied. It took a couple of hours, but all kittens were caught as well. Fast forward to today, I received a text update about the kittens but was notified that the mother would be dropped back off. Our response was no, we would have kept a kitten if we could, but we are highly allergic and could not care for the cat that was never ours in the first place. They proceeded to text about the cat needing to be dropped off where it was picked up, and that they could just drop it off at a neighbors house. Look, I am all about helping the animals the best that I can, but when you mess with my property, that is a big problem. Kindness and respect for others and their property goes a long way. I am nothing but kind to people and love to help within my means. People like this that just take what they want and walk all over you do not deserve any respect, even if they are trying to help these animals. If they don't respect people, then I wonder if they even respect the animals. I never saw the mom cat on their website as a cat that needs a home. Be wary of calling this place if you find an animal that needs a home. I am not the first to leave this bad review. Since my local police department and animal control can not do anything to these people, hopefully sharing my story will help. read more

I feel like I need to share my very unhappy experience with everyone in regards to these beautiful fur babies! ! On April 22 I found them in a box..noticed that there belly's were blown up someone told me to bring them to H3 pet store in STRATFORD that they would take care of them..So that's what I did..I was planning on adopting them when they were old enough.I was told they would be brought to the vet that Monday so the lady took my name &number &she would call me in a few days to let me know how they are doing, well days went by &I received no phone call. I called &they said the kittens are doing fine eating &in a foster home...I had called back a week later the lady started to explain to me that they thought there might be something wrong with the babies leg she said she would call me back later to tell me about them &again took my name &number...waited..no phone call again. Mind you they have had the kittens for a month & six days &I have not received ONE phone call from them or the cat project. I have left messages to the cat project &to the pet store to see how they are doing, I receive no return phone calls. My cousin messaged H3 cause I was not getting any answers they told her that they told me to call the foster lady that has the kittens..I guess I missed that memo. I call the foster&left a message she called me back &basically told me to stop calling that the ladies are getting mad at the store &told me they have not even been to the vet yet!! I have been getting nothing but the run around from these people, I'm glad they are helping the babies but never again if I find any kittens...lesson learned!! I hope they get healthy &go to a good home!!Share & beware read more
