I have been going here regularly for about 3 months…read more It is a full body workout that is very challenging. Unless you are already in top shape expect to be very sore for the next day or two! All the classes are structured with low inpact aerobic warm up, some traditional barre work (up an inch down and inch), some aerobics with 1-4lb hand weights, and then about a half an hour of core work (like pilates but not as painful) and stretching (like yoga). People usually wear leggings and you take your shoes off. They have modifications and the instructors don't bark at you if you take a break so it should be a good experience for people at most fitness levels. The classes vary on the details depending on the teacher. All of the teachers have been very good. As for weight loss, the workout itself is not a huge calorie burn compared to something like spinning. But if you go you will feel part of a community where people care about fitness. I have found this helps me focus on being healthy when I am not at the class much more than workouts at gyms without this community feel. This, I think, helps me keep on track with a healthy diet which is more important for weight loss anyway. Sometimes when you go everyone is thin and beautiful. This might be intimidating if you are just beginning but other classes have more of a variety of people including some who are around retirement age. I think it just depends what time you go. There is nowhere to lock your wallet so I usually don't bring it in. Overall, they have built a nice place here. A bit pricey.

Came here for the first time in a couple of years and had an amazing experience! I took a signature…read more45 class, which is an express version of their barre class. Despite the shorter session, I still felt like I got a great workout. The class was completely full, yet I still felt like I had room to workout both on the floor and at the barre. The studio is very clean and well maintained and all of the props are also like new. The instructor was very clear on how to do each exercise and came around to give adjustments, as needed. I love the combination of cardio, yoga, Pilates and ballet that the class provided. I even love how the short class still ends in a quick meditation to allow you to leave the class more relaxed. I like how they have a little store there where you can purchase some workout clothes. They even have a babysitting area to make it easy and accessible for parents who want to workout. Parking was very easy in the 2 hour free lot behind the studio. Just make sure to look for signs to ensure you aren't in a permitted spot! This one of my go to studios when I'm in the Boston area and I'm glad they are back on ClassPass!

Patti's workouts/routines are customized for each client. She accurately assess needs and builds unique routines to meet those needs. She tracks progress and builds on that progress, so that not only are my routines unique to me - no two sessions of mine have ever been the same. When the pandemic hit, she seamlessly transitioned to online classes. She was able to replicate routines that had used machines with handheld equipment that I either had, purchased, or borrowed from Patti. (yes - she has loaned out her own equipment so that clients can continue to work out). I have no hesitation in recommending Patti - and can't wait to get back into the studio to work with her in person! Nancy - Needham, MA

Having been to both Pure Barre Newton, and Pure Barre Boston, I was excited to learn that another…read morePure Barre was opening in Wellesley, near to where I attend school (You guys are following me aren't you, how am I supposed to make excuses to not fit gym time in now?). Honestly, Pure Barre is great - the workout is a 55 minute, low impact, based on isometrics and using your own body as the resistance. It's in the vein of pilates/ballet barre work that encourages that long lean dancers body, and gosh don't we all want that. The music they use is current and the instructors are incredibly encouraging and actually take the time to remember your name and help you with proper positioning. Personable instructors seems to be the standard across studios, which I love. A business focused on customer service, you don't say :) I got to check out what Wellesley Studio had going on last week for free (Thank you Lululemon Studio of the Month) and it is beautiful. It's located right in Linden Square, next to Hercules Cleaners & Sara Campbell. There wasn't a sign in yet when I went, but I expect there will be one soon. The space seems larger than the one in Newton, and parking is free. I enjoy the aesthetics, fabulous lighting, clean, comfy, and stress free. Everything a gal wants when sweating out what the day has put you through. And if that does work for you, there is even retail space in the front where you can get yourself a new workout outfit or just a little something special for all the hard work you just did. Or if you happen to have a shopping problem (what does that even mean), you can sign in as quickly as possible and head into the studio and try not to think about all the fancy accessories out front (Good luck). They too are up and running online, so you can reserve your spot in class ahead of time, which is my biggest recommendation. They also often run specials on packages, or have games where you can win free classes, so check them out and maybe I'll see you at the Barre.

The instructors are great and extremely supportive, helping you modify exercises if you are injured, or just weak in certain areas. However, one thing totally creeps me out. The number of people who walk into the studio barefoot. There is a sign that states that closed toe socks are required in the studio. But that doesn't stop the self-entitled Swellesley moms from trotting in barefoot, going to the back room to grab there equipment, then walking back into the studio to sit down and gossip with their friends (who saved them a spot like at the High School lunch table). Then getting around to putting their socks on. We spend lots of time on the floor - planks, sit ups, stretching. I don't want to lie on the floor and get athletes foot from some Swellesley Trophy Wife.
