I just got my Alienware x17 r2 back from Chris. After ruling out Bios as the source of the problem, Chris determined that the Intel and NVIDIA processors were not completing handoffs, causing my laptop to have difficulties restarting (and finally unrevivable by me). To save me an expensive fix (or the cost of a new computer), Chris disabled the Intel processor and auto restart function, and invented a work around to fool the laptop into recognizing a nonexistent external monitor, which allows for smooth startup. What had happened was that I had bought a new laptop from LG (~9 months ago) and its' performance was just so weirdly slow from the time I brought it home. In particular, the proxy setting just would not turn off no matter how many times I disabled it. Plus, the PC performance was horrifically slow. Not a good sign and I did a lot of malware scans with no luck on finding any issue. Finally, I got fed up and, after a bit of research, I found Allstate. The guy at the repair shop was super nice and attentive to my observations. The end result was excellent - all the issues were fixed (proxy and computer speed) and my PC is as it should be - fast and efficient and it has been 3 months of excellent performance. He tried a few tools to get a sense of what the problem could be, talked me through the various levels of repair that we could go down, and sent me home with an initial fix that hopefully solves it without me having to buy a whole new rig. All around great service and appreciate him taking the extra time to get me an answer then and there vs just having me drop it off and then having to wait for a response. If I do end up needing to upgrade to a new system, John said he also does custom PC assembly so know where I'll be going when the time comes.

The hard drive was failing and an IT tech recommended having it "imaged," which would result in an exact duplicate that would not require any software reauthentication. He also recommended Tech Care as the folks to do it. They initially tried doing an automatic imaging, which didn't take, so they attempted to manually image it and were successful. The computer now has a more reliable SSD drive (no moving parts) and it indeed works exactly as it used to (only faster). Eddie informed me that the old drive had maybe one month left before it completely failed. LIFE SAVERS!!! Eddie, Abed, Josh and everyone else I spoke to are top-notch guys, and the price to repair was eminently reasonable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
