Only reason for a 4 and not a 5, is that the three H-Mart stores in the north are a bit bigger and a wee bit better, but H-Mart is the BEST part of the Edison shopping experience. Fantastic Korean delicacies, meat vegetable and seafood departments are the best anywhere, forget whole foods, forget ShopRite, H-Mart is the destination of choice for food shopping in the Edison area (although you'll find yourself shopping at all 3 to get the rest of the things a native NJ resident will likely need: pet foods, paper goods to name a few things that you won't always have luck with at H-Mart. But what you will find here is astounding. The freshest LIVE SEAFOOD! I can think of nowhere else in mainland USA where you'll find tanks of live Alaskan King crabs, conch, eels, you name it, if it flies, or swims, they have the best examples here. It's my go to store for Octopus, the best marinated ready to cook beef, chicken, pork. The selection of Asian sauces like soy, sesame oils, and Korean staples like Gojuchaun can not be matched in such abundance. Go. Now. read more

The Hmart is a Korean Asian supermarket where you can find anything from paper plates to caviar. It's conveniently located off route 27 (Edison). Around the store you may find multiple Asian restaurants, a Daiso (dollar store) and even Paris Baguette! The store is very organized with welcoming staff. When I walked into the store on Sunday it was very crowded but manageable. I believe every Sundays they set up tasting stations which I believe a great feature to have when it comes to grocery shopping. By the way, my first time trying a golden kiwi was through an Hmart tasting station. Thank you Hmart for this experience! When it comes to prices, the market is on a pricy side. I came across multiple items where prices were a lot higher than usual. Overall, it's a great location to shop with a huge variety of foods available to you. Thank you for reading this and I hope you find this helpful. read more

One of my favorite HMart locations. So many great family memories here. My mom loved coming here to eat their ramen soup. After years of coming here to eat, yesterday was the first time we came since she passed and it was like a warm embrace. The food is always good. In addition to whatever we order, we always get a few of the spicy chicken wings as an appetizer. We end our yummy meals by shopping some goods. Their produce and seafood is top notch. Interesting place with great food choices On the shelves and they also make food and pastries. Vegetable section is my favorite Both in value and options. Clean. Parking sucks ( shopping center supermarket ) what do you expect. Employees stick to themselves ( language barrier) I dont do my main shopping here. Since they dont have everything i need. But its a good place to shop for your asian needs read more

How can anyone not like Hmart? It's my favorite Asian supermarket. It's clean and has a huge variety of Asian products. It literally has anything you can imagine for cooking Asian cuisine. I really enjoy this location because it's located in a plaza with a bunch of other Asian restaurants, bakeries, shops, spa & etc. The only thing I don't like is the parking lot, it can get really crowded. This Hmart has a good court, some shops and a bakery inside. They even have samples for you to try throughout the store. Which will make you end up buying more because everything I've had so far every time has been delicious! Prices are pretty decent. Make sure you sign up for the free Hmart member card to get extra discounts! read more

I absolutely love H-mart and this was my first time at this one! I love the variety of food items that they have. Love that this one also had what felt like a strip mall on the way out! There were small shops selling clothing, accessories, & other items which was very cool. I would definitely come back here! I also purchased a milk bread & cheesecake on the way out in their cafe! read more

Just realized I've never reviewed this place. I've been coming here since they opened. It has been my go-to Asian grocery store, replacing my previous, HK Supermarket. Hmart has much more interesting products. Whereas Hk supermarket, Kam Man and 99 Ranch specialize only in Chinese products, you will get your basic Chinese staples here plus a whole slew of interesting Korean treats. I find their produce fresher and I think they have a relationship with the korean farms in the area. I also love that on hw weekends, they have many sample stations for you to try before buying, Costco style. HMart really stands out in their meat dept. The meat is exceptionally fresh but it will cost you. Since Hmart opened, they have attracted many great additions to the plaza (little Mongolian sheep hot pot, a great korean restaurant, a korean bbq buffet, island spa, spice 24, mango mango, Kung Fu tea , Paris baguette, and now it looks like there will be a new restaurant called pappa rich). On the downside, with each new addition, the very large parking lot is becoming more and more congested. Whereas the other Asian supermarkets tend to be mild-moderately crowded, HMart is crowded every weekend as though a big winter storm is coming and everyone needs to stock up. read more

This is a great chain of markets that are super sized and probably one of the biggest Hmarts I have shopped at in the US. Selection is great. Veges and fruit are cleaned and fresh and picked for quality. There is no old smell in this market as they wash and clean everything. There's also a hot food area where you can buy food and sit down to eat. Diverse foods from different Asian cuisines. They also have facial products stores and cute gadgets and gift items stores. To go food as well freshly made. I would give it 6 stars if the prices were as good as the Hmart in Fort Lee, NJ or Flushing NYC, the one close to Gum Gang San restaurant, bc that one that is on northern boulevard, even if it's much smaller, has the best prices. But this Hmart in Edison has very good prices also and you can't beat the quality and cleanliness of the place. If you go to any Asian grocery in a fly over state, the prices will be 2-3x as much per item so stock up if you don't live in NY/NJ or any of the major big cities. This Hmart has the best overall experience with live fast food served and a grocery with other stores for non food products than many others including the one in Hartsdale NY which is much smaller compared to Edison and higher prices. So this one has everything you need as well as non Korean foods. This one is so huge that it has the most snacks and the newest from Korea and many Asian countries. The prices for the snacks are really excellent. When I am in NY/NJ or any other large city, I only buy vegetables and fruit from Hmart due to high quality selection and cleanliness and freshness. I buy all my Fuji apples, mangoes, pomegranate, cilantro, tofu, oranges, Yukon gold potatoes, garlic and onions, and many unique fruit like durian and star fruit and lychee and the fruit come in bulk boxes that makes it so much cheaper. You can easily get a box of 24 mangoes all fresh for $13 (sales come often). And on weekends they give out free samples ñof so many things it's fun for the whole family! And cool thing is some of the non Korean staff are fluent in Korean so check that out too! read more

Portion size decent. But this is a terrible excuse for mapo tofu. The white plains location makes a much better version. Next time (if there is one), Will not order this. Also, water machines out but either not in service or no cups. And staff was not very hospitable...asked for extra napkins and was given 1. Def not the hospitality I'm used to from other h-marts. read more

Little gem I happened upon while visiting the area for work. Got most of my groceries (produce) here. Also found many items needed for making Asian dishes. I particularly was fond of the pre made/pre wrapped Korean BBQ wings. So tasty. I have also tried the chicken feet x 2. Yummy. They have the tastiest tangerines, a bit pricey but they were really good. They have hand wipes and such as you enter the store...etc. Wish I had one near my house. read more

Very disappointed in this location. I've been to the one in Westchester, NY, which i loved , but the Edison location really fell short. First, we visited on a Saturday and drove around for about 15 min trying to find a parking spot. Absolutely packed! Once inside you could barely move through the mass of people. The bathrooms were filthy and smelled terrible, which was a big surprise. At the food court we ordered the fried chicken, which was good, but when i asked the cashier for something to clean the table, she said they (meaning the food servers) don't do that. The cleaning staff was no where to be found. All the tables were sticky and had bits of food all over them. Really gross. We wound up covering the table with napkins, which stuck to whatever was on the tables. If you really must go to an Hmart, which can be a great experience, please avoid the Edison location. Oh.... and the prices were outrageous. read more

Only if the prices were the same in the NYC location... This place is great for fresh fruits and sushi. I always take home a slab of salmon or tuna sashimi. Oh man, H-Mart...what happened?! I had been looking forward to my visit to H-Mart this weekend. My last visit had been well over a year ago and I felt like it would be like visiting an old friend. It sort of was, but on many levels it felt like an old friend who had changed in uncomfortable ways (literally). The first sign that something was changed (and not for the better) became apparent as soon as I walked in. There used to be standing sample trays for the various snack foods. These had been aliminated. Instead, there were more boxes of product crammed into the area than ever before. There was a very narrow corridor created by this, and as you entered the produce section from there, a bottleneck was created resulting in a traffic jam of shoppers that took a few minutes to clear as people took their sweet time selecting snacks and fruit, oblivious to who was waiting to get past them. I thought that perhaps this was an aberration, except the rest of the store seems to have undergone similar change. There were now extra shelves crammed into corners that used to have nothing in them. Aisles felt more narrow as well. From the produce section to the snacks and even in the home goods area, it felt as if all the aisles had narrowed, making it difficult to navigate with a cart. There were at least six different times where my cart was almost smashed into by someone racing down an aisle or someone trying to make a tight turn into an aisle. It became very frustrating very quickly. Even the cashier area has been changed to provide less space. The cashier stations appear to have been moved towards the aisles more (I have no photographic proof here, I am just going by memory). This subtracts from the space for people to stand online, causing the space to be tighter and more uncomfortable. On the good side, all the products that I remember being available were still there and the staff was still plenty friendly. All the extra shops near the entrance (including the toy store and beauty products stores) were also still there. I do not want this review to come off as if H-Mart is not a good store, it absolutely is but sadly they have made shopping there a lot less pleasant than it used to be. read more

Huge HMART with a food court near the front left of the store. Lots of asian brand snacks, food and condiments. Great for getting certain items that you can't find at any other grocery store chains. We brought a bunch of snacks here on sale. There's also a korean bakery, Tous les Jours inside HMART. A few of smaller shops / counters are also inside the store. This is a perfect store for a day of grocery shopping, have lunch (can opt for take out given it's covid-19 and there is no seating available) and pick up dessert afterwards. read more

Though seldom the leader in price, H-Mart's consistently packed, demographically diverse weekend crowd is evidence that customers are willing to pay more for quality produce and a shopping experience in a cleaner store. Also, no other Asian supermarket in the area can claim to draw such a large following of young people. Maybe it's the food court, maybe it's the overpriced Tous Les Jours bakery run by twenty-somethings in costume, or maybe it's just the free samples. H-Mart has found its niche and is here to stay. Half-off rice cakes after 8 PM on weekdays. (The rice-cake vendor by the restrooms after checkout doesn't seem to get much traffic--probably because it's so close to the restrooms.) read more

This is for the food court and especially the nice Korean man who runs the fresh made Korean shaped hot cakes. He is the sweetest and reminds me of my dad and grandpa! Last time I got some roasted sweet potatoes and he threw in an extra with a huge smile, this time I ordered Oreo pastries and it's made fresh so it's a wait. He gave me two big fresh popped rice cakes while I waited. The cakes were a steal,$7 for 4 fresh and hot and BiG! First time with Oreo and it was delicious! Kind of like fried Oreos but without the grease! Winner! Visit this man! He's by the checkout (not the food court) Eta:cash only for his stall, and I ate one before I took a picture :) you get 5 for $7 Oreo flavored. The traditional red bean is cheaper and Nutella is $10. I'll be trying Nutella next time! read more

This is a very big H Mart. I usually go to ones in Queens NY and this one leaves them in the dust when it comes to size. Makes sense though as Jersey is more spread out. They are in a strip mall so there are plenty of other shopping around as well. Giant food court as soon as you walk in. I think there were at least four places to chose from. There were also other smaller shops in the foyer area. I saw a toy store, gift shop and a clothing store. The rest of the store is devoted to the supermarket and they have everything. Organic fruit, fresh meat, seafood, vegetables, etc. Aisles are nice and wide and very organized. There is a huge prepared dishes section which also has pre seasoned meat, ready to cook. Plenty of choices for the pre pared stuff. Good thing here is they have two sizes of everything. Small and large. Good stuff. read more

Literally the best place to do your pandemic grocery shopping! This H Mart location is huge and masks and gloves are required to enter the store. Do Not buy their meats!!! A couple of days ago, my wife purchased some Beef Kalbi from the meat department. She made the purchase on Oct. 12. and the meat sell by date was Oct. 17. Wanting to cook it for dinner yesterday on Oct 13, she took the $50 Kabli out of the fridge just to realize the meat was already spoiled. This morning I went to H-Mart (Oct14) to speak to the manager. Unfortunately, we did not keep the receipt. Manager would not accept the return claiming "no receipt, no refund" even examining the packaged meats. He even claimed that he sells no spoled meats but when we both went to inspect the meats in the store, all were sell by Oct 17, we found 2 packaged meats that was already spoiled. Still no refund...so a warning to all H-Mart shoppers to keep their receipts and avoid buying their re-packaged meats. read more

I feel like H mart was the original one spot place for Asian food/grocery etc in the area but now more places are copying their style. This plaza is usually busy especially on the weekends because they have a wide variety of stores. When you enter H mart you are greeted with the aroma of delicious food. I suggest you don't go grocery shopping on an empty stomach lol. But the store is clean and has affordable prices. Be aware what's in your cart might be old as hell!! I have been to this hmart for years, and this has destroyed my trust to this place. I bought this chocolate three days ago, and as I was just checking it I hardly believe this item is expiring in September--a week away. It's obvious this has been sitting on shelf forever and they didn't bother to check their inventory. Another pasta sauce I bought not long ago was also expiring soon, while this type of products usually have at least a year or two...but I didn't keep the receipt and thought it to be an incidence. Apparently not. My bad for only checking dates on certain groceries, so I am leaving this review for others that might be doing the same and thought we can trust the grocery store. Unacceptably disappointing. read more

Summary: Love Hmart and love this one especially! Convenient location among great restaurants. Great food court inside, although dining tables are closed due to COVID-19. Great prices, clean, and always carrying my favorites! read more

H Mart is a pretty popular Korean grocery store chain that has just about any Korean or American ingredient you can possibly need. They range in size based on the location, but this one is just enormous. The store is separated into three parts: a food court when you walk in, the grocery store itself, and a row of smaller vendors in the hallway on the way out. In the grocery store, you can find fresh produce, pre-packaged foods, and just about everything in between. On the way out, some of the vendors include a bakery, a makeup shop, and a store that sells what I can only describe as "miscellaneous goods" The best part of the store for me is the food court, and I will often make the trip to H Mart just to get dinner. There's about 6 vendors in the food court, that will sell anything from bulgogi to dumplings, fried chicken to a dish that resembles general tso's chicken. I've never had a bad experience. read more
