This grocery store is literally the best. It's like King Soopers (those who moved to TX will understand) meets sprouts and meets whole foods. Plenty of healthy, organic and local choices. Incredible variety, always fully stocked with great prices. Ample parking! The garden section calls for some special praise! Lots of trees, shrubs, flowers, herbs and bushes for anyones budget and any landscaping project. And of course their wine selection is quite impressive. Local Texas funds are simply the best and choices are even better. Slightly surprised to read many negative comments regarding staff as everyone who works here is extremely polite, respectful and helpful. Sure most of cashiers are high school kids but the level of respect they treat everyone is absolutely admirable and I thank them all for consistent assistance every visit. On a few occasions they weren't sure of a fruit or veggie sku number and sent for help instantly following with multiple apologies. Honestly, I also don't always know the names of every exotic fruit that's sold there without reading the label, if anything it's a miss on the labeling department! I'm honestly getting really frustrated with H-E-B. Their prices are high, and it feels like they constantly push their H-E-B brand products over third-party options. Even when the app or website says the specific product I want is in stock, I'll go to the store and it's not actually there. It's even worse when ordering online. It will show that the item is available, but then I end up getting a substitute H-E-B brand product instead of what I actually ordered. I always have to double-check and remember to uncheck the substitution option, but then sometimes I just don't get the item at all. It's gotten to the point where it's hard to trust whether what I'm buying is actually going to be available. I'd set up notifications on the app where I could select products that I'm interested in and be able to get updates when they've been restocked that would be extremely helpful to consumers. read more

I had a very uncomfortable experience at H-E-B yesterday. I shop at this store regularly, at least 3-4 times a week, so I am very familiar with the store and its usual atmosphere. Today was particularly busy, and I was there with my wife and our baby. My wife is Latina, and I am Latino. As we were leaving, a white woman with blonde hair who was pushing a cart with two bags inside walked past us, appeared to be watching us, and then said, "Target is walking out." She then continued watching me as I exited. I honestly found the entire interaction extremely strange and uncomfortable. It made me feel like I was being singled out or treated as a target by loss prevention. Given that I am Latino and have visible tattoos, I couldn't help but feel that my appearance may have played a role in why I was being watched. I completely understand that H-E-B has loss-prevention procedures, especially on a busy Sunday. But if this was in fact loss prevention, they absolutely need to do a better job of handling themselves. Following or watching a regular customer and then referring to them as a "target" as they walk out is an incredibly uncomfortable way to treat someone. I shop at this H-E-B several times a week, and I have never had an issue before. I hope management looks into what happened, including who was working loss prevention at the time and whether this employee's conduct was consistent with H-E-B's policies. Customers should be able to shop with their families without feeling like they are being profiled or treated as suspicious because of their appearance. read more

But the lack of helpfulness & rudeness made a five minute stop into over 30 minutes. Managers - please teach your staff to NOT block the isles with their large carts (for pick up orders)!!! We love H‑E‑B but this one is our least favorite. The manager was not helpful after we raised concerns about random dogs inside of carts. These dogs were not service animals. These dogs were pets in carts. That is a horrible Saftey concern for other people and the manager was not willing to work with us. I don't leave negative reviews but this concerns me for others. Using the HEB pharmacy phone order line is a total waste of time! At least half of the time they lose your request. They've even told me that my doctor didn't call in an order when I know he did. On top of that, they misplace orders when you get there to pick up your Rx. They need some serious organizational help!! read more

Heb in Texas one of the very few large grocery stores that didn't bother putting steak on sale for mother's Day. They sold it as their regular high price per pound while most stores Kroger, Aldi, Fry's, Safeway, Albertsons etc sold the best of steak from 7. 99 a pound to $9.99 a pound. Check out the price of heb's baby food compared to other stores. Most aren't aware because they haven't had the opportunity of other stores. Heb owns the grocery market in Texas. They don't have to compete for their prices. I encourage everybody to check the weekly sale ads for the above stores I've mentioned. See for yourself. Check their regular prices. read more

I love my HEB! lol-- really this is the only place I shop. Fresh produce, nice deli. I've tried different Artisan breads but I still like the country scratch. The cakes from the bakery are nice and moist. I love that they sell cake slices. The HEB tamales are wonderful, I've brought them to gatherings and people are surprised when I tell them it's HEB. On the weekends there's different wines or beer samples. I've bought different brands just because I was given a sample and knew what to expect. To get in and out quickly use the HEB Go app. You scan the item and put them in your bags ( love those HEB reusable bags). I really like this store. read more

Stocking the store is necessary but 5-6 people on one aisle with box trash and carts the width. The aisle had juices etc. it might be a big selling aisle but why occupy it where it's unnavigable. This occurred approximately 0830 this date. I spent over $400 which might not be much to the gross/net earning but it's significant to most folks. Sydney (cashier) and baggers were incredible. H-E-B Favor app BEWARE Thought this would be a great time saver. Don't do it! Nearly half the orders I placed I had issues with. Either ordering from a restaurant promoted on the app that was actually no longer in business or being double charged for orders and having to wait days for "pending hold" on funds to be released....Finally I looked through order history and saw orders I had never placed. HEB Floral Department at this location is always full of beautiful arrangements at any price point. This Mother's Day was the most stocked I have ever seen the floral department. I went in a few days before and special ordered 3 arrangements. Madison P took my order and also arranged the flowers for me. They were the most beautiful arrangements I have ever had. She was so accommodating and you can tell that she loves what she does! I used to use the high priced florists, but if they don't have to be delivered out of town, I will use Madison for all of my floral needs! read more

HEB is no longer the grocery store it used to be. They clog up the isles with their own brands, they continue to carry less and less healthy food, the produce goes bad in a day, the pharmacy never has prescriptions ready on time, the cashiers would rather chat with each other than take care of their customers, the baggers put cold food with non cold items and mix chemicals with food. I can only hope that someday Kroger's or Albertsons or some other large chain will come back to San Antonio. read more

In this part of our state, HEB's are always very close - not every corner, but maybe every mile:-). New Braunfels has been blessed with 3. This one is on the north side of town by I-35, and is the newest of the 3 stores in town. It's also a Plus Store, so you would think they would have the best employees. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Being a "Plus Store", this is a very large grocery store of more than 150,000 sq. ft. Being that large, you would think the sections for each category would have a big footprint. However, in this store, they have reduced category linear feet and brought in large areas of non-food. In doing so, they have reduced the linear feet in the grocery sections. What this causes is vast out of stocks. If this was the first time I had gone in this store, I might blame the out of stocks on the pandemic. However, the store has had this problem every time I have been in it. Hopefully, when they get the new store at I-35 and Walnut, it will take some of the load off this store so that out of stocks become a thing of the past. Will I return? Probably only if the other 2 HEB's in town shut down. read more

I get curbside from the walnut store. Two things; First- Why do they put one thing in a bag. One onion, one produce bag of jalapenos and so on. Their costs must be through the roof. Also, we have bags growing in the garage. Second, and most importantly...when the person bringing the bags out to the car, they just put them in willy nilly. I can't tell you how many times I get a refund because my tomatoes are damaged, squash is damaged, and today my pack of 6 boiled eggs looks like egg salad. So much waste. I grew up on HEB and I buy all my groceries there. The store is always stocked well and the employees are super nice. BUT, nearly every time I go there, there are dogs in the store. There's a sign on the door saying dogs aren't allowed in there except service dogs. All I gotta say is there must be a lot of people needing service dogs. You can buy these service dog vests online. I've seen dogs sniff and lick food. They are in grocery carts where I put my food after they've left. Animals shouldn't be allowed where we buy our food. Period. read more

This review is specially for the Pharmacy at the HEB Plus! on FM 306 and I35 in New Braunfels. If you use this pharmacy be aware that they will NOT fill a prescription that insurance won't pay for without prior authorization - and they won't TELL you. It will just disappear from the In Progress state without explanation. Apparently, they have too many customers for this level of service. I had to jump through hoops to get my prescription filled even after waiting for two WEEKS and requesting a "refill" twice. How can it be a refill, if they have never filled it? I ended up having to go to a different HEB to get the prescription filled before my surgery. I know that Walgreens will fill the prescription regardless of insurance and you can decide what to do about the cost. I would have been able to get it on time via Walgreens mail pharmacy (AllianceRX), which would have notified me of any issues. But I guess HEB just doesn't care. read more

Hard to keep up with demand: Folks are freaking: Shelves are empty, primarily in areas of canned goods, water and paper products. Didn't anyone think of books, etc..,,?? It's almost eerie. Came in here for only a few items for the truck and immediate use. Almost safer to have side stepped the whole idea. You can see the fear in some: They side step you, as if you are contagious. We bought County ribs here and it made us sick. Sore stomach for several days. I though "well, it happens" and never said a word. A week or so later, I bought to packs of country ribs, and it had just been filled. I got home and the smell when I opened the package was horrendous! I called HEB not that i wasnt afraid i wouldnt get a refund as I just bought them, but that someone could get seriously sick. I called was transfered. A person picked up and hung up without a word. I called back got someone told them I just wanted to make sure they were aware, she asked me to repeat it to the meat Dept then transfered to the meat Dept. They didnt answer so once again im calling back. I got somone from the front desk. I ask at that point after (explaining the going round and round) I would like to speak to a manager, but noone seemed to know who that was. I said someone has to be in charge at the store. Shes said let me transfer you to the manager. Phone rang noone answered. I called back again and got ahold of deli. I explained the situation. She then walked to the meat dept, told them she was transfering me. She came back to the phone, transfered me. The guy in meat picks up and pretends he cant here me. I tell him "I know you can here me" He says "well im busy you will have to call back and hands up on me! I call back get the same girl who was helpful, told her im on my way and will be talking to the store manager, then I was transfered and a manager picked up. I explained everything. She greeted me and said sorry as I stood in line and got refunded. The guy in the meat dept has no clue of customer service and cares for noone what so ever! Putting out things like that are going to make people sick! My brother in law also had a meat problem and went and talked to the the manager and they were good to him. Today I pull black angus hotdogs I bought a week ago, and the package is bloated! Date is August, 23! I should have checked the date but if the meat department was doing there job I wouldnt have too! I don't think I have ever seen an HEB with so many plants! From large trees to small veggies there is an abundance of stuff. Now everything is just crammed together... there's is zero rhyme or reason as to what is where of why. There is a selection of many plant types from shrubs, trees, annuals, veggies, perennials, and more... some of it is pretty suspect some of it is a great value. If you're willing to dig around, shop and look for the value you will find something worth buying. This HEB was huge!!!! Like HUGE huge!! So a bunch of us went up to New Braunfels for some weekend tubing getaway. This means, we needed supply at the airbnb we were staying. Off to H-E-B Plus! we went. It was pretty late - around 10 pm, because we came here right after dinner at Infernos Pizza not too far from here. Walking around looking for everything we got did take a while just because of the size of it, but they definitely had everything that we were looking for. Chips? Check Red Solo Cups for Beer Pong? Check Classy $7 champagnes? Check. And yes, CLASSY! Beers? Other Snacks? Nutella? Water? Milk? Bacon? Eggs? Yogurt? All check! Moreover, they also sold tubing stuff that you might need at the river: Water shoes if you don't want to lose your flip flops at the river, waterproof bluetooth speakers if you didn't bring yours or if you don't have one, tubes if you'd rather own one than rent one, coolers for all your beverages on the river. There were several open cashiers at this time (I think it was four) so the check out process was a jiffy. They did have one dedicated line for express check out (can't remember if it was 10 items or 20 items or less). Near the front, they have this little thing they call the Drybox. It's essentially a machine that you put money into to dry your wet phone if for whatever reason you happen to have brought your NON waterproof phone to the river and got it wet. Don't know if it works well, but it's there for you. All in all, it's an awesome H-E-B and I think it was the newest and the largest H-E-B in the area. read more

Best grocery chain. The service at this store far surpasses its leading competitors. I would like to bring attention to one specific H-E-B associates named Gwen. This evening she was so kind to my boyfriend and I when we were inquiring about products we were unfamiliar about. She gladly helped us and went above and beyond to assist us. Another employee also took my shopping cart back for me even though they were off of the clock. I will continue to choose H-E-B over all other stores. This is an impressive, large, spotless H-E-B Plus! Store. Even for an HEB I was amazed with the large selection of items. The wine and beer section is the size of a small liquor store. This location has a small women's clothing boutique, a pro shop (with fishing poles), a gigantic produce section, four aisles of small appliances and cookware and a big bakery. The butcher, deli, and seafood was smaller in proportion to the rest of the store but everything looked fresh. It was busy but I had no problem moving along the dry goods, cleaning supplies, or frozen aisles. There were self checkout sections on both sides of the checkout. There was even an area outside to fill your tubs before going down to the river. I get the impression that because of the location, this store is meant to have everything someone who is camping, or tubing or spending a day at the nearby river or RV sites would need. This is nice but wear sneakers if you're just doing your routine grocery shopping! read more

Store is very clean, selection is good first thing Monday mornings. Today I almost fell over a pallet that was left in the middle of the aisle with no employees in the area. This is not the first time there have been incidents like this in this store. The stockers and shopping service employees have no concern for the customers. My wife was going to HEB so I asked her if she would pick up my prescription for me, no problem she said, but this turned out to be a big problem, they gave her the wrong prescription and when I took it back they said there are no returns at the pharmacy! We didn't even request for the prescription, it was arbitrarily filled. I went to talk with the manager of the pharmacy and I was told he would call me, but I was contacted by the person that I had spoke with and they said the manager said there will be no returns! Clean, good selection, extremely busy. The parking lot is not user friendly. Beware of the 4 way stop bordering the nearby shopping center. Traffic often spills over to nearby areas. The drive thru for the pharmacy is not user friendly either, meaning if you turn there by accident, you might get stuck waiting on the slow motion line to move out of there. A family member did that once while looking for a parking space. What a nightmare. The pharmacy area has pros and cons. It's a gamble on getting assistance from them that is kind and courteous. I worked retail, i get it. Oh and until covid is completely over, if you shop in store, wear a mask. When doctors in the media finally say: there are no more covid variants, they don't exist! Then you can let your guard down. There's a lot of mask fatigue, we get it. But protect yourself and family with a simple mask. As soon as you get outside, or in the car, remove it. The chick at the register gave me a card to fill out to request it. My friend and I had met up for dinner across the freeway a couple days ago and decided to come here afterward to walk a little and to check it out. She had to get gas first. So I parked and waited for her. I did notice an extremely long line for the car wash... I guess A.B.'s review was spot on regarding that car wash. I had to head home and didn't get a chance to check out the entire store, so this review is subject to change pending my thorough exploration of the store, so I will definitely be back! read more
