Great little HEB. Friendly staff, very nice. Very convenient to get in and out of also.

The pharmacy staff do the best job they can but the are short staffed. HEB should be able to provide more help.

The selection is terrible. Definitely does not carry merchandise for new people moving to town. ALWAYS CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE! Outdated milk remains on shelves. read more

OMG I cannot believe what happened to me today guys I was in a rush I had just gotten home from work. I picked up some food that I could make real quick which is macaroni and cheese and hotdogs. Mind you I'm picking this up to put the stuff away and I see this disgusting, moldy bread, there was only two left my kids and I ate this. I hope that none of them end up throwing up. This HEB was in good condition on my Sunday visit. Floors and the store were clean. Produce variety was good with a nice selection of soft fruits. No fruit flies were evident. Product was well culled throughout the department. The deli / bakery combo is small but the basics were there and fresh. I picked up fresh made deli croissant sandwiches located on a checkout merchandiser. The pre-sliced deli meats were in a refrigerated unit in the deli area. Meat variety and quality was good. No seafood department which was expected. Good small format store. read more

H.E.B.: Here Everything's Better? In Hondo, it stands for Here Everything's Bogus. Considering this is just about the only grocery store in all of Medina county, you would think it would have a larger selection. On rare occasions, they have a product that we like, only to find it missing from the shelf on our next trip. The cashiers always ask "Did you find everything OK"? , yet they never question any further when told "NO, we did not". Why bother asking? Shopping in the produce section requires wearing a mesh bug suit, so the fruit flies don't carry you away. The produce is almost always wilted. I really enjoy how the deli workers will slice, package and label cold cuts and then display them on a cart in front of the deli case UNREFRIGERATED!!! What the fuck is wrong with these people? The Sweet Sue canned chicken display is always fully stocked with gelatenous poultry. Wondering just who in the fuck would eat this stuff, I brought a permanent marker with me and dated the bottom of the cans. Two years later, not one can has sold. Does this product really deserve shelf space? There is always a display of clearance items near the pharmacy. Each time I check it, the items have all expired. Is this legal to do in Texas, selling expired food? My guess is that it is not legal, but nobody seems to care. It sucks having to drive 40 miles to San Antonio to buy groceries, but I refuse to shop at this, or any other H.E.B. store. If I could give it zero stars, I would...is that an option? Mostly this review is directed at the pharmacy. My husband was in a car accident and my employer recently moved. We have had a few months of struggle and are currently (but not permanently) on medicaid for our kids. Not even food stamps. Just medicaid for our children. The pharmacist not only threatened to not give my husband my children's medicine, but then discriminated against me over the phone for being on welfare...saying if I cared so much, I'd get a job. He was absolutely ugly to me just because we are temporarily getting help. He then went on to say that he has been here in Hondo his entire life and has "dealt with people like me before". I am waiting to get his name so I can make sure he never makes a parent feel as low as he made me feel today. Just disgusting. read more
