Walking around town alone checking out Downtown. I had heard about Texas Salt next door, so stopped in there first. Then moseyed over to Salty which ended up being an event. A couple more ladies came in and three of us just kept the store manager engaged in conversation for an hour probably. And that's how I got the story of Pappy's wood chips! We also discussed how liquor stores are loosing money because of legal cannabis business such as Willie's Remedy. In the back there was a large stand up picture of my great great uncle John Wesley Hardin. The store manager mentioned he's a relative to his wife as well. JWH was the baddest old west outlaw that rarely get talked about. He wrote an autobiography, studied law while in prison, then went on to become a lawyer when he got out. So much more to the story, wish the family would finish their movie already. At that time the store was found through some changes, including name change, and I think owner change as well (which is Texas Salt next door). I'm surprised the Yelp page changed names leaving old reviews up, instead of not closing, and opening a new page. Things that make you go hummm. About three minutes into a game I like to call "8,000 bottles of wine - 1 impressively inefficient cashier on duty", I decided it would be best if I try to frequent businesses who are financially solvent enough to staff two or more cashiers during peak hours.
