I have been frequenting this location for over six years, because it is very convenient for me to purchase lottery tickets (don't judge me) and buy beer, wine, and snacks when I don't want to travel to a big-box store. Yes, the prices are a tad higher, but I will pay a few extra bucks for convenience and time saved. They do have an excellent selection of brews, wines, and hard seltzers. If you are a vaper, they have many, many options for you. As a bonus, there is a taqueria on site. I have not tried their fare, but they are always busy, and the made-to-order tacos look and smell delicious. Note, they are only open for lunch. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple and respectful customer service interaction turned into a very unpleasant experience. My husband explained that we had purchased the muffin on Thursday, discovered the mold that same night, and were returning it as soon as we could. We were not trying to cause a problem or get over on anyone. We simply wanted to exchange the moldy muffin for another item and make the store aware that there could be other products on the shelves that needed to be checked. According to my husband, the older gentleman assisting him had a very rude and unwelcoming attitude. Rather than addressing the concern professionally, he appeared to insinuate that we had opened the muffin and left it sitting out long enough for mold to develop. Let's be realistic: nobody is going to go out of their way to create a dispute over a $3 muffin. We were trying to bring a potential product quality issue to the store's attention. What concerns me even more is the difference in how customers appear to be treated. I have personally observed Caucasian customers and customers of other ethnicities being greeted and acknowledged, while African American customers do not always seem to receive the same courtesy. After hearing about my husband's experience, I cannot help but question whether race played a role in how he was treated. I cannot speak to the gentleman's intentions with certainty, but the interaction left us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. A language barrier should never be an excuse for poor customer service. We understand that people speak different languages, and we made an effort to explain the situation clearly. What you will find if you get off the interstate at one of these is not just a place, but it's an experience:) The first thing you will find is a parking lot that's as crowded as a major city at rush hour. Then you will find about 120 fueling stations that you can fill your vehicle with usually the cheapest gas/diesel in the area. The newer ones even have electric charging stations. Then you get to go inside. Most of the new stores are about 79,000 square feet of food, beverages, snacks, and all kinds of touristy stuff. The folks working there will greet you and seem to be happy to be there. If you look at some of the sign's advertising for workers, you will see one of the reasons why. Salary at the lowest end starts at about $27 per hour and go all the way up to several hundred thousand dollars for a store director annual salary. If you need to use the facilities, head on back to the back of the store. You walk into a huge bathroom with enough spaces so that you probably will not have to wait. There are fresh donuts and related pastries in the morning, which are discounted at night. Like other convenience stores you can find candy and generic sundries and groceries. I've just come in for the drinks. The fountain drinks have the right carbonation. I also like that they offer coffee on tap; it's unique. Both the cold brews are tasty, as well as the hot coffee offerings. And, if you want to sweeten your coffee, they tend to have 6-10 flavored creamers available for this use. And of course, they have the good personal service other convenience stores don't. You are greeted and thanked.
