Sadly, while the people there are very friendly, and is clean. I waited and was taken in on time for my appoinment. So far, so good.
When I called to make the appointment, I told them I had a K1 form that I didn't know how to handle. Apparently, neither did they. The young man I was assigned to, told me it was his first year a doing client taxes and he wasn't quite sure how to apply this form, as all the boxes weren't filled in. In the meantime he made me an appointment for the Wells Avenue branch to see a Trust specialist. Then I asked him how much to do my taxes ... $225! I've been doing my own taxes for years, this K1 really threw me, but I'm not a supposed tax specialist. But after paying $0 to do my taxes, this really shocked me.
So on way home I spoke with a neighbor who reminded me I could do the on the IRS website for free. So I figured I'd give it a try. When the website asked if I had any other forms .. including a K1, I felt like I hit the jackpot.
So I followed the instructions on the website, step by step and in 30 minutes I had filed my 2023 taxes for $0. I remembered to cancel the appointment I had for the Well Avenue office.
BTW, I had to file my deceased brother's 2022 taxes last February in AZ. I paid $140, the woman appeared to know exactly what she was doing. Said I didn't have to file AZ taxes, as he owed no money. I waited months for the small refund he was due. Suddenly I got a note from IRS saying they couldn't process the claim without a specific form (they should have known this too). So I went to IRS website, got the form, filled it out, sent it in and finally received the refund. This person was in the AZ office for years and supposedly knew how to filed a deceased person's taxes. read more
