UPDATE 2/27/2026: This year, Megan went above and beyond preparing our taxes. In 2025, we bought a house, sold a house, bought a vehicle, installed a new roof and solar panel system, installed a heat pump, and the list goes on. Not only did Megan apply all the energy tax credits that we were hoping for, but she also found an additional one which netted us an extra $1,200. There were a lot of changes to how and when the Energy Efficient and Home Improvement tax credits are applied, and Megan educated herself and upgraded her programs to find every bit of eligible credit she could for us. I love Megan Reese EA. I have been with her for seven years now. Every January she mails a packet out to help her clients get ready for their taxes. It has check lists and reports from the previous year to help get her all the right information she needs to do her job efficiently and quickly. I just fill out my check lists, review the reports, make any changes and add the w2's, 1099's, and other papers she requires. Drop it off. Megan then usually texts me to make an appointment to pick them up. Then we usually go over any changes that affected the taxes and any problems we see coming up in the future. Taxes! Just saying the word leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Nobody likes tax day! However, when one is required to pay their fair share to the IRS, it's best to go with a pro. I'm not talking H&R Block or some other place that only sets up shop during tax season. Would anyone really trust a place where they have someone on the sidewalk dancing with an arrow dressed in a Statue of Liberty outfit? Um, no! Little scary when I see places who employ temporary people with little to no accounting experience take identifying information and then type it into a tax software similar to turbo tax. Think Walmart...really? Is your information really secure? Frightening in my opinion with so much identity fraud these days. I'm talking about using a true professional who specializes in taxes. I was fortunate to meet Ms. Reese in 2011 and she has been doing our taxes ever since. We had a complicated matter with the estate of my father-in-law and some more common things like college expenses, pre-paid tuition amongst other tax issues that I felt were out of my league when it came to tax time. Who wants to donate extra cash to the IRS? I certainly don't, so I am super glad we can count on Megan to ensure our taxes are prepared correctly. She is a great lady! We have had had some "alright" accounting firms do our Federal Taxes in the past few years, but I just thought I'd look around to see what was available. Megan Reese's name popped up and the reviews were great, so I made an appointment to have a conversation with her, more out of curiosity I suppose. First off, before I retired I was a Vice President for a large international corporation and have worked with a goodly number of top notch Comptrollers and Accountants over the years, so that field is reasonably familiar. By the time Megan and I were through with the "interview" I was 100% sold. Over my career I have had to learn to "read" people's abilities fairly well as my career and the corporations profits depended on those judgements. Less that H&R Block knowledge.. Beware of this one. She has very little first hand knowledge but charges as if is good at what she does.. There are much better ACCREDITED accountants available for much less money.. During a phone consultation, she constantly interrupted me with EXTREMELY WRONG Assumptions. It seemed as if she was trying to sound smart.. SMART PEOPLE LISTEN!!! . If it would have been possible for me to finish a sentence without her rudely interrupting me, perhaps she wouldn't have seemed so ignorant. She is full of excuses as to why she doesn't return phone calls.. If you want to spend a lot of money having a short form filled out, this is the place for you.. If you want professional, quality, knowledgeable work at a fair price,, find ANYONE ELSE!
