I provided all of my documents at that time, and we shook hands on a plan to move forward. Unfortunately, that was the last communication I ever received from him. Since then, I've called at least five times to check on the status of my return. I spoke with his receptionist multiple times and with an account/tax manager twice. I also left messages specifically requesting a call back from Brent himself. It is now December, and I still have not heard a single update. The complete lack of follow-through and communication has been incredibly disappointing, and I am now seeking a different CPA. I do not recommend this firm.

I sought out an expert individual tax preparation firm after my previous firm made several…read moreincompetent mistakes. With Brent Forbush's Big 4 CPA background I was comforted in that regard. That is considered the gold standard in accounting. Even with Forbush's significantly above market fee, I was comfortable. However, my work was delegated to an overworked newby, whom I suspect was not even a CPA. When I received an unexpected and unexplained refund check from the IRS, I brought it to his attention. He didn't know what to do, so he did nothing. The result of this inaction was an eventual penalty by the IRS. I finally obtained Brent Forbush's personal intercision with the IRS, but it was to no avail, even though the mistake was really made by the IRS. I did not get what I paid for and I have now taken my business elsewhere. I do not recommend this firm for individual tax preparation.

The lady behind the desk, Loretta, helped me immediately. My tax stuff was simple. Loretta seemed like she was very thorough. She even had some children's books and colored pencils to keep my kid preoccupied while she was working on my taxes. That was nice. In the end, she explained my options on my return and put all the paperwork together in a packet. My experience with Loretta was great and I think they might've gained a returning customer. I had recently listened to a Chris Abts' broadcast on TV about reducing taxes during retirement…read more(both my wife & myself have been retired for years) so I called Cornerstone to see if I could learn more. I told them I wasn't a client but asked if I could get more information as I had missed part of the braodcast. Their Marketing Director Nikki White invited me to come up and talk to Jeff Martin , one of their Financial Advisers, to analyze our situation during a free "Discovery" Session. I was instructed to complete a form that would give Jeff our financial picture and also to bring along our last 3 years of tax returns so he could best advise me. I double-checked again to make sure this was free and I was assured it was. When I arrived at their office I was greeted enthusiastically by their staff and then Jeff came out to meet me. Jeff spent over an hour going over our financials and tax returns and gave (again "gave" is the operant word since this was free) me great advice about upcoming tax law changes. Jeff is very knowledgable, professional, friendly, and pleasant. He listened patiently while I laid out our finances and only spoke for clarification. He then analyzed our situation and made some great suggestions. At then end of our time, I thanked him profusely and he assured me he was in this business to help people make good financial decisions and his reward was my thanks. Clearly Chris' management style & philosophy is evident all through the organization. What a wonderful & pleasant experience this was. If I was anywhere else in the stages of investing or planning for retirement, I would have signed up with this company. I highly recommend this firm.
