I later spoke to my Financial Advisor and was assured I had everything I needed. The second time I went back I told Jackson Hewitt what I was told. They said they needed time to research. Don't get me wrong. I knew my return was going to be a challenge, which is why I didn't do it myself. Nevertheless, I got the impression the Tax Expert did not have the necessary training. The third time I went back, all I had to do was sign the return and pay. This is my second complaint. I was charged $300 more than last year when my return was prepared by someone else. So my advice is to have anyone do your return except Jackson Hewitt. Don't get me wrong. The Tax Expert did their best and was more than pleasant. My issue is with the company for taking advantage of a retiree on a fixed income,

I'm really not sure what happened this past summer. I had used Mark and Tammi for my returns in…read more2016 and had very little issue with their customer service. I submitted my taxes in September and had them done three weeks later in October. So I told my new wife they were awesome and saved me a lot of money and were even willing to have our back in the event of an audit. So we switched from her accountant to Mark. I felt like the man! Then came the embarrassing and emasculating events of last summer. We bought a house in April, so we filed for extension. We gave our tax info to Mark in May with the expectation that we would have them done in July. No problem, he said, We'll have them done in June! We didn't hear back from him after multiple phone calls and emails until late July. Finally we received our taxes back but and I'm hoping they are correct. Maybe something happened with their health or a family emergency but, they never told us. All we got was radio silence. Given the state of disarray at their office I was really concerned that they lost our taxes entirely. If something is going on with them I sincerely wish them the best, but don't risk people's financial lives if you can't be healthy enough to manage it. Or at least communicate the fact that something is up. I'm really happy with our new CPA. Best of luck to you Mark.

UPDATE: My accountant, Scherie, reached out to set up a call and get my questions answered, so I…read moremay update the rating later on. She apologized for the poor communication, which I appreciate--though I'm not sure why the administrative assistant (whose role I assume is to communicate/schedule on behalf of the accountant) is less communicative than the accountant herself? They are very responsive when trying to get your business, but as soon as you pay they disappear off the face of the earth. I have no idea what the status of my tax return is, nor whether the proper returns were even filed. One of the state tax departments reached out to me asking me to pay more and Dimov tax will not even confirm whether they filed that return, nor advise me on what should be done. The "administrative assistant" assigned to my case has not responded to my emails for a week, and when I try to call her it instantly gets sent to voicemail. I'm not sure what kind of people get 5-star treatment here, but it's certainly not everyone. In the past, we've also tried to schedule calls due to difficulty communicating and getting answers over emails, but the staff made it extremely difficult to do so, asked for what our questions were over email, and then gave non-answers to the questions and cancelled the meeting saying that the questions were already answered. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt that it was peak tax season when we reached out and hence we had difficulty reaching them, but the pattern is very clear: when they want payment, they will respond; after payment is given, service drops to almost zero. I would highly advise you to stay away from this business.

After answering their questions I was told I wasn't a "fit" for them. Given the fact that I was looking for some pretty complicated S-Corp tax and transition issues (which I expected to pay for), the only reason I could have been rejected was (i) I didn't list enough income, or (ii) the computer automatically rejected it as too complex (?) Hmmmh, not feeling warm and fuzzy about the whole "relationship" vibe they promote. UPDATE: Wow, super fast response to initial review (1/2 hr, maybe). Wish I could do 3.5, or better yet, 4 (if they had actually reached out instead of offering to help via Yelp). Sorry, need to agree to disagree. There weren't that many online questions, and one would hope the purpose was to match you with the right person. But 2 of the few questions were how much my company and I personally made per year. If the firm interests you, I would recommend you call them - not use the online gatekeeper. Other reviewers are certainly positive about their interpersonal skills. I'm was just turned off by the cold "sorry no" at this point.

After giving them my business, waiting two weeks, I was told that they could not. Also, afterwards I was told you could no longer get returns from taxes more than three years old. Every tax firm in the city of Billings told me this except for the ones doing my taxes. I had to call them and tell them. Alla very well knew this rule but did not tell me and allowed me to believe I was getting it all back. When confronted he is just like a con man talking circles trying to avoid and blame. I also requested that advanced child tax credit payments from 2021 be requested as mine were stolen. He requested a stimulus payment in the amount of $2700 , not three $400 child tax credit check payments. I would get a return of $4000. After everything I ended up paying $600 to file the returns with a promise of getting 4000 back. Obviously, since the wrong thing was marked, the IRS changed the return and I got back $83. I did not get my missing child tax credit checks and Alla tried to talk his way out of it. Even went as far as to tell me I told him to . He dod nothing wrong! Why the hell would I tell anyone to do my taxes wrong? I know the difference between a stimulus payment and an advanced child tax credit payment And my tax related should too. Why would I tell them to mark the wrong thing so that I end up with nothing. I do not appreciate his dishonest worm like behavior and could've done without this whole experience. I demanded a refund as I would've never paid $600 to file taxes that I was not getting a return back on. These were old taxes I did not have to. He refused and offered $300 blaming me for their mistake..he did not make a mistake and refused to be realistic. most frustrating experience I've ever had with tax preparer,
