Terry Yoshida is a great accountant to deal with and deserves 5 stars but I think the service on my tax return was too expensive. The location of this office is poor. The branch where I had to go to was in a large corporate set of high rise buildings, not very close to the parking lot in the Kilroy Center in Long Beach, CA. Their phone system is difficult to reach the right person as well. I've had trouble reaching the person I needed to reach and the receptionist gave me the wrong information. That was frustrating and I had to call back again to get the correct action on their mobile app for my account. read more

Went there to file 2023 taxes and Brian either purposely screwed our returns up or seriously doesn't know what he's doing. Not only was he dismissive, rude and unprofessional, but he also shared someone else's taxes information with us! I'm still in the process of correcting several errors on our federal taxes that he made. One being not using my legal name and using my maiden name to file taxes even though everything we handed to him had my legal married name on them. Thankfully another HR block was able to correct this, but it's been a long process of undoing his mistakes. This year we will be going to a real CPA! Taxes this year were a nightmare. I have always filed my taxes myself online and never had any issues. Always get a 1,500-2,000 refund. Easy peasy. Last year I got married so we decided to file with H&R and now I am afraid that last years taxes were also not done correctly. We filed jointly last year and got a small refund, but did owe in state. Found that unusual but we paid it. A couple months later my wife got something in the mail about not paying her state tax. (My wife is active duty military and does not pay state tax since her domicile is Texas) Long story short, she spent over $100 to get the proper paperwork drafted to show she enlisted in Texas and have that sent to the IRS for review. THIS YEAR, we tried to file jointly again and ran into the same situation. Being told that we owe over $1,000 in state tax. Our tax professional did not seem to understand anything that has to do with military families or their domicile state. Her best "suggestion" was to file separately. Why do we have to file separately because you do not know how to navigate this situation? I spend a lot of time sending and re sending information. I could've and should've just done it on my own. My wife was so unhappy she told me that there is no way she if filing with H&R and I felt like I had already invested so much time and energy that it would be better for me mentally to just get it done and take my tiny return. AFTER I signed and PAID $140, I was called and told that ADDITIONAL information was needed because federal rejected my return. What a waste of my time, money and sanity. Awful Experience. read more

As an independent contractor, I figured that I'd be able to work with H&R Block and have them find other options that I don't know about to get a bigger refund. Well that was a wash! I usually purchase the software for about $60 and have no issues with filing my taxes. This time around, I paid them $350! And my refund was hundreds smaller and I owed towards my state taxes! But I will give them an A-OK cause they answered questions that I've had burning when I've filed my taxes in the last few years. I also have sent a couple follow-up emails to Rebecca, who handled my filing. And she has not responded to either of them. I feel that the customer service went out the door after they received my money. Service is everything in a business like this, and I don't think that I'm being taken care of. It's very unfortunate that this branch doesn't feel that I'm a valued customer to even respond to my correspondence. read more

Everything went smoothly. I paid my taxes right at the shop. Over the next two weeks I watched my bank account and waited for the funds to be withdrawn. They weren't. I've emailed and called 5x over the last two weeks and no response. I know tax season is over but WTH??! read more

Elaine was an absolute angel! She was patient, kind, helpful and experienced. I am completely incompetent when it comes to finances and she took the time to go over everything I brought in and explained everything in a language I could understand. I strongly suggest you request her when you visit this office. Elaine even gave me guidance on what to do to improve my situation this year. Regarding the office, it was very clean, small and there is plenty of parking. I called and was able to get an appointment the same day. The cost is reasonable too! SHE have the worse actitud and customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life!!. yells at customers in front of everybody, refuse service if you don't do as she think is best for you, think she know better than IRS even tho IRS approved the changes, she still refuse to do so, so long story short, she is incapable of accept her mistakes and errors and fix them.. WORSE WORSE WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!. Please be aware!!. due to her age I didn't disrespect her and say what was on my mind but if she deserved it!. she was rude, disrespectful, hard header and imposible to deal with. Even tho the manager Karla Robles, review my taxes, saw the mistake they made on my taxes return and realized the magnitud of this inconvenience, she refused to fix it. The manager was so nice and helpful as the rest of the staff BUT JANE KREUTZER said NO, I am not going to amendment anything, she took advantage that the manager (Karla wasn't there) so first she accepted to fix it in front of the manager and the day of the appoiment she just refused to correct the mistake it was made by theirs end. I called Corporate and they took care of the mistake and offer me to send me to a different location totally free with a different representative. At this point I want to clarify, H&R Block as a whole is great! They do have good customer service. But there is always be a bad one out of the goods, so please be aware, don't trust this lady and don't let her rude actitud push you away from them. She contacts me early since I am a returning client, and starts my return or at least helps me prep before I even get my w2.
