We ordered them online and they arrived as expected. Except... my husband's was massive. Like comically large on him, so we needed to make an exchange. I loathe doing online exchanges so when I saw there was an in person store here at Oak Park Mall I decided to head over to take care of the return. It was easy enough to find the storefront but when I walked in it was the most chaotic scene I'd ever witness in a retail store. Clothes just jam packed into every nook and cranny, things on the floor because someone bumped into it due to no space to actually move, piles of clothes that should have been folded, and on top of it all an understaffed store with a line nearly out the door and bright fluorescents that just really enhanced the whole situation in the worst possible way. It was honestly a moment that made me really question my decision to purchase from this brand in the first place. Hanna Andersson would never! At any rate, I got in the line and as I was waiting I figured out what the issue was, it was a busy day and there was only one person working who knew how to process returns or do pick up orders, the other two folks really were only trained on a standard transaction. Unfortunately I was not the only one there with a special situation to get worked out. Once I got up to the front of the line I was relieved to find the gal working to be super kind, competent, and trying so hard to get through the long line. I felt for her as for retail, she was really doing a fantastic job. Despite their computer system crashing during the whole ordeal she took care of me, fixed my issue as fast as she could, while managing two folks that needed some hand holding, and trying to keep the whole line feeling taken care of. Someone should give her a raise! Long story short, this isn't a pleasant shopping experience, but the folks working are genuine and do a good job. I'd recommend coming during the week if you can swing it as this weekend visit in November was chaotic at best.

Sometime around the year 2000 I feel like department stores in general sort of started turning downhill and no longer had the pizazz they used to carry in the 90s, Nordstrom however, seemed to move with the times and remain classy and elegant. I always loved coming here to go back to school shopping back in the early 2000s and honestly I'm happy to report that not a lot has changed (in a good way). This is still the best place to park and walk into Oak Park Mall, hands down. Nordstrom is still pristine, clean, and has this really nice scent to it? I don't know if that's nostalgia playing games on me from my HS days but it just feels nice to shop here. On the day I walked in recently I was on a mission to visit H&M to pick up some back to school staples for my 1st grader, but thought I'd check out the kids section here first just in case there was a steal on some mini boden or something. Their kids area is packed with adorable clothes, and while I did see some decent deals on the sale rack everything was a bit pricey for my regular back to school haul so I continued on to H&M. All that being said though, I still enjoyed shopping here and seeing what they had.
