Such bad customer service! I walked in intending to shop after I take care of my exchange but instead of apologizing for the inconvenience of having to come back to exchange a damaged merchandise, they decided to give me a hard time. I understand stores have return policy but if you sell damaged merch then you can and should bypass your company's return policy. I spoke with 3 people today, the first two couldn't understand that they cannot expect customers to pay full price on a damaged item and not come back for an exchange; and that if I am returning an item in "sellable condition" then I won't even be there in the first place. Unless your "sellable condition" includes damaged goods. The third person, another store Manager, honored the exchange and told me they don't put damaged items on the floor. Sure, maybe that's true but I'm sure they're aware that things can get damaged while on the floor. Bad customer service affects company revenue. Think of it this way, if you happily eat up your $10 cost by doing the right thing, in this case- exchanging the damaged item, chances are you will make a couple hundred dollars more in revenue for the additional items that I'm going to buy after the exchange because I was so happy with how you all tried to handle this unpleasant experience that it made me want to spend more money at your store. read more

Stopped by here again to do some more shopping at my favorite basic store. Came across a TON of deals in the sales section and got to enjoy a bunch of stocking up. Got tons of cute tops, shorts, socks, shoes and underwear just because i am visiting from out of town and forgot to bring my basics and going to be traveling and vacation. Spent less than $70 and got a whole new wardrobe of basics. Such an awesome H&M location! Definitely more affordable than the prices in LA. read more

This is an incredible store. The staff at this particular location are much friendlier and attentive than at my home store. We were greeted as we walked into the store, and the staff were quick to assist me in finding just the right shirts and sweaters I was looking for. Even the check out procedure went quickly. The cashier was very well trained and knew exactly what she was doing. I really appreciated the high standards of professionalism I found at this store. I stopped by this location today @ 10am to purchase 1 item. Wasn't helped at all. As I stood in an empty line, an associate blatantly asked if I was ready. Confused if she was talking to me with the lack of eye contact or directness I received, I began checking out my item with her. 3.5 I have a very short term memory... probably has something to do with my four years (yes, not five, surprised?) at UCSB but my housemate re-jogged my memory this morning about H&M opening today so I ran over and gave it a whirl. Now for those of you who don't know H&M offers affordable chic up to the minute fashion wear with a Euro twist. The H&M I know (the ones in San Francisco) offer it all. Some higher-end looking stuff for dirt-cheap (compared to the runway version) and a lot of nice coats think military-esque with buttons on both sides on a coat for example... well I know it is summertime or soon to be but my fashion-forward friends Simone & Nico (whom I ran into outside) were so spot-on. There is nothing European going on in there and it's like a pricier Forever 21. The summer dresses and the color scheme screams sun kissed beach raver or new age hippie chic whatever you might want to call it. I did grab a few things but stayed to the basics like a v-neck cardigan but I got the teal one because I was feeling a little crazy and a few summery tops and flowy dresses... why not. I'm stoked their in town and love that there is another reason to stop by DMS but I'm just not feeling their summer apparel. I hope I will be seeing sexy chunky coats and work blouses with Beethoven ruffles ... I forget what they are called but I think you can figure that one out. Either way, go check out the scene... they had a DJ today and most of the crew seemed very happy and helpful. The lady who helped me at the register today was lovely and from the Bay Area. A bunch of them are here to make sure things run smoothly and I think that is a brilliant idea. When I asked the young lady fixing the mannequin near the door what time they closed she seemed unsure... she said, "I'm pretty sure 9"... well I think that is something they should go over as a team. read more

I visited the new H&M store recently and had a terrible experience. I went on a Sunday around 5pm. Being an employee of this mall, I am aware store hours are shorter on Sundays. However I did not know they were closing until suddenly they turned off the music AND the lights!!! My friend and I waited in line IN THE DARK !!!! When trying to exit the store, all the doors had been locked on one end and an employee rudley says" They are locked, go out the other doors". My friend and I felt like we were in prison!!! NO ONE was friendly, the clothes were plain....I have no plans to visit this H&M again! read more

A nice H&M location, nice set up. My family and I wandered in here around 10ish, which was nice because there weren't too many shoppers about. The sales associates seemed like they were either in a rush to put clothes back on the racks or were trying to avoid customers. Any time my husband and I came close to one, they hurried in another direction. O....Kay.... The maternity section... not clearly marked. I walked around the entire store 2-3 times before I finally cornered an associate to tell me. "Oh, do you see the mannequin with the belly bump up there? Near the registers on the right hand side? That's maternity." Selection is very slim compared to the H&M we're used to in Walnut Creek. read more

H&M is one of those places that have cute styles at decent prices. I think the prices adequately reflect the quality of their clothing, so you never feel ripped off. You know exactly what you're getting. I think the one big complaint I have would be how they PACK their clothes on the racks. You can't pull out a tee or pair of pants without a major struggle, and forget trying to get it back on the rack. I can't tell you how many times I've given up on a tee because it got stuck or I ended up pulling out five other shirts with it. The dressing rooms are tiny and backed by a curtain, so pulling on a pair of jeans without falling over is like a Ninja Warrior challenge. And because they're so small, the mirror is right in your face which makes it hard to tell how something really looks on you. The guys department is really lacking at this location, too, as is the accessory area. I hear Santana Row and San Francisco have killer stores, so I'd like to check them out. read more

I was super excited that they opened up a local H&M. The prices are great and the quality seems a lot better than other similar stores. The service was lack luster. I was not greeted when I entered or acknowledged when two associates were having a personal conversation next to me. Minus one star, for the lack of service. I am glad this FINALLY opened in Monterey. Glad to not have to travel to San Jose or further to enjoy one of my favorite stores. The selection for men is OKAY (not great) but glad they have a kids section. Great price points and okay customer service (i have been in retail and customer service for almost 10 years). You can tell when they are closing because they just want you out like another person commented. Looks clean and neat in presentation but hopefully if I am there close to closing, I don't get hurried out the door. read more

This H&M at Del Monte shopping center has the worst customer service. The associates hate their jobs and make you want to just buy what you like H&M online it's a sad shame because customer service is such a fleeting thing these days and I particularly would like to mention the poor customer service of a particular associate name Viviana who is rude and had the personality of cardboard. read more

Let it be known that I really like the selection of Men's clothes at H&M, and this review is based purely on my recent shopping experience at this specific location. The store was busy, but not crazy busy during our visit tonight. I was able to navigate my family through the store and we all found stuff we liked. The shopping experience was actually really great... until we approached the cash register. Then, it all fell apart like a cheap Walmart sweater after the first wash. It began when there was no clear indication of where to line up for one of the two open cash registers, so we lined up behind a couple waiting on the far left side. A cashier summoned over the couple in front of us, and soon after that, a woman standing at the cash register directly in front of us shouted at us from behind the counter that we weren't standing in the "correct spot". She then began to lecture my family about the store's policy to have the customers line up in the middle of the three cash registers. We sort of just stood there, dumbfound that we were being talk to like third grade students lining up for recess. This cashier requested that we back up and walk all the way around the display shelves and line up in the "correct spot" that she was pointing at, similarly to how how you show a dog where to go. Some shoppers standing nearby even commented to us about how rudely this woman was treating us. My family and I quickly began to scramble over to the "correct spot", sort of confused by the whole event. Keep in mind, there were no other customers waiting to pay for merchandise. It was like a ghost town near the register at this point. Immediately after we stood in the "correct spot", she said that she was ready for us and then summoned us back over to her register. This is where i learned that this obnoxious drill master had a name, it was Gretch. We mentioned to Gretch that there was no clear distinction of where the line began and we merely stood behind others who were in the same line on the far left side. She continued to lecture us about the stores policy of line forming procedures. Gretch spoke to us in a rude mother Superior type tone and treated us like we had enlisted in H&M's Employee Training Bootcamp. I really hope that Gretch is not a store manager because her horrible customer service skills should not be taught to ANYONE, other than the most skilled military interrogators. But, if this is SOP for how H&M treats customers, then I will never return to an H&M again. Will I return to this location, hmmm... not sure. But I will be definitely be calling corporate to inform them of our embarrassing experience. Let me start by saying that I LOVE H&M.... usually. This place is horrible. The fitting rooms are disgusting! Huge dust bunnies and hair on the floor. Ewwwww. Do they own a broom? Seriously. I don't even want to take off my shoes to try on the clothes. Who knows what germs are living on those clothes (ick!). The employees aren't helpful and the store is completely disorganized. The "professional" clothing is in four different places, the basics are all over.... trying to shop here is like running in circles. This store is a huge disappointment. Have shopped at this location, as well as others, and have come to the conclusion that, the philipino manager, ( Inga?) has no people skills, professional skills and is just plain rude. On the other hand. The clothes are cheap in pricing and quality, but, when I purchase something , and then return it, (with receipt and tags still on item, clearly new condition) I expect a full price refund, not a "sale price" or al least a store credit for full price! I came in late like around 8:40 with my boyfriend. I get it ladies and gent, you close at 9. We took a spur of the moment trip to come down to Monterey, so I wanted to grab something I could wear out for the night. I went as fast as I could, the dressing rooms were closed by 8:45... Guy was annoyed I tried on clothes, and then when I apologized and thanked another employee as walking out, I hardly got an acknowledgement. To the young lady who rang me out at the register, big shout out for your patience and thanks for your help. To the other 2... Sorry to have been such an inconvenience. I checked my phone as I left... It was 9:02. I'm sure those 2 minutes just broke your night. P.S. I work retail too. I've stayed 15-20 minutes after we've closed for customers to finish. Actually I would like to change my rating to -! Let me start by saying I have had the worst experience in the store than any other store in my entire life! THEY ARE 100% RACIST! So if you're African American do not shop there or you will be followed the entire time! I went in there with my two children, one in a stroller and I noticed an employee nearby. He did not welcome me go the store or offer help. 5 minutes later I see him in another area a 2nd time, another 5 minutes later I see him in the fitting room when I wanted to try on clothes , that's a 3rd time, then when I came out and went to the children's section I saw him again the 4th time and when I looked at him I caught him staring and he immediately looked away . That's when I was positive he was watching me. I stopped him and ask was there a problem? He said no, do you want to speak to my manager? I said yes and his manager came to speak to me and said we have employees here " your color" but I did not see one that day or the first time I shopped there. I said that did not mean anything and he did not seem apologetic at all. He claimed to send the employee there to clean but I didn't see a mess!!I put it all together that it was him ( the manager ) that sent the employee to watch me! Unbelievable! It is not a coincidence that he was in every section I was at the same exact time. I bought the merchandise only to leave the store and realize that I don't want this store getting my money . I refunded it and told the girl why in front of all of the customers. I have money my husband makes more than all of the employees there combined , I am with my children trying to shop in peace and I couldn't. Little did he know I have bags worth 10 of his paycheck and designer clothes and shoes as well as my children . So shopping at h&m was not a luxury for me. Worst customer service. I have been buying clothes at H&M all over the world, Paris, London, New York, just to name few wonderful locations. But the store at Del Monte Center in Monterey has the worst costumer service. The associates are rude, unhelpful, and not interested in helping costumers. Two days ago I bought some kids underwear for my son and they were too small. I came back the next day with my receipt to exchange for large ones. The cashier was super rude and refused to exchange saying underwear sales are final. I said I exchanged kids underwear before and she asked me to see my receipt pointing that the policy is on the back of the receipt. I understood but she was so rude I asked for a manager. She called somebody who was on the floor and the so call manager was even worse. I understand policies but I can't take costumer service representative being so rude to costumers. I said I was going to write a review on line about my experience and the manager said shrugging her shoulders "do it I don't care". I wish I had the names but I was so distraught about my experience I left the underwear behind and left the store. Is so sad because I love H&M clothes and this is the only store in my town. The service is horrible. They have 3 people behind the counter, but only one rings up customers while the other two just stand there and gossip and watch a line form. And it always has a horrible smell when you walk in. Like the smell of wet plaster of some sort. Hate this place. I got to say this is by far the worst h and m. I would rate this store 0 stars if I had the chance. First off, I bought a sweater at a different h&m and yesterday was my first time washing the sweater. I left the sweater alone in the washer and just used the tide original detergent and I noticed a color stains on the sweater. My first reaction? Take the sweater to my local h&m. As soon as I get there, the cashier was waiting for the manager, Gretchen to come because the cashier and another employee was gossiping how strict Gretchen is. as soon as I talk to her, Gretchen automatically puts the blame on me for the problem. She suggest that this clothes must be washed alone: which I did. Also, she said a family member might have used bleach the previous wash, but I told her that I didn't see anything in the washer. She kept mentioning that I cannot get a refund but I wanted an exchange, then she said "we cannot exchange your sweater either" My Point: This store has terrible customer service and I suggest anyone who is looking at this review to avoid this store.
