If there is a zero or even a negative I would nominate it for this business for the worst customer service. The old boss lady looked at me like I have no money or I'll steal her pots and pans. She followed me isle to isle. She howlered to me "Hey! You take my things outside no come for return!". Omg, is that how she says hello to her customer? I picked out the stuffs my girlfriend sent me here, came to the counter to pay and off course the same grouchy lady helped me. Again, the rudeness just oozed out from her mouth " You don't come back for return understand!". That was it, I just left a bunch of things on her counter and walked out. I didn't bother to say a word to this lady because I refused to teach her any manner, not my job! I gave another store my business and happy with my decision. read more

Stopped by today as I've been very curious about this place for a while now. It was a nice little store. Has all the Chinese restaurant supplies imaginable. That said, although the variety is good here, quality of some of the items is not great. And you'd have to be a good shopper to know that some of the prices are fairly high compared to others (e.g. disposable plastic tongs at almost $5 a piece!!), while some are competitive or better. I was looking for a bamboo steamer and I wasn't able to find it. I thought that would be a pretty standard item for a store like this one. Oh well. I did notice upon entering the store that their wide selection of stainless steel stock pots were of heavy gauge quality, ginormous woks for the flame torch cooks, and that they have just about every style of dishes seen in Chinese/Vietnamese/Japanese restaurant in the area. The family that runs the store seems friendly. The son was very polite and was nice to not charge me the cents portion of my bill. Weirdest experience today went in to look at mop handles. Apparently this heavyset Mexican gentleman was staring me down while looking at handles. I thought he was a customer so I asked him can I help you. Get this he said the owners asked him to watch me as if I was a thief. I confronted the owners about it and they said they asked him to help me. I find it odd that their version of help is staring me down from a few feet away without even asking if I need help. Perhaps they thought by assigning him to stare me down my powers of shopping perception would increase and allow me to shop better. Needless to say I don't believe their weak explanation and if I am treated like a thief just by walking in the door being the only customer i will be happy to go somewhere else and ease their concerns. read more

1 star. H & B is a restaurant supply and equipment store. Is based on the service received. It carries a wide variety of restaurant supplies, from utensils to pots, to the little plastic trays that restaurants use to serve you the bill, and just about anything you can find at a run of the mill restaurant. The aisles appear well stocked but the lighting was dim. So, while the doors are wide open, they will only sell to those who have restaurant licenses. I rate this establishment a low one-star not because of my disappointment at not being able to purchase, even though I didn't see any signs posted about "not open to the public" or "for business owners only". Rather, the 1-star rating is given because the staff's indifference and lousy attitude. I picked up a handful of small items and went to pay, and was asked for a restaurant license. When I told them this was for home use, they said they couldn't sell to me. I understand the message and don't mind it, but it was in the way they said it: indifferent and impolite. Verdict: sells only to those with a restaurant license. Even though I wasn't able to make a purchase, I observed and experienced a pretty low standard of customer service. "Eek! I totally agree with the previous review from 'William.' I was there to buy stuff today after referrals. No one greets you, three people were standing at their counter space doing their own stuff, so I started walking around looking for my stuff. Other customers came and and they started attending to them. The staff started pushing carts of stuff down the isle, I had to move quickly to the side to avoid getting hit, they didn't say excuse me or sorry, seems as if they are mute or blind. As I was looking for items I want, I asked the bosslady something about the product I was holding, she didn't answer me questions, she said "we don't sell for home use.' I said, its not for home use, I need a bunch of them. She said, ok, we can look up your info online. Which was fine for me,so I continue to get my stuff. After gathering several samples of items I needed, I asked them to check me out. The 'son' said, wait, asked his mom if he should set up an account for me, she was helping another customer, she told me to 'wait.' I said 'ok.' The father walks over and asked what for my business license, I told him I don't carry that stuff around, I'm from out of state. He said: We can't sell to you. That was the last thing anyone in that store said to me as I walked out. The mom had previously said it was ok, they the dad says no, giving the impression of get out of my store. Totally not professional, rude, son looks as if he has no idea what the store does. Father seems to have been caught for tax fraud from the way he acted. Mom seems to only care about customers buying a lot of stuff. Give me a break, if u can't sell to out of state, tell me in the first place, don't tell me wait and wait and wait. Plus, there were no shopping carts in there, do you really I think I would buy one item of each for a restaurant, or do expect people to hold a few dozens of cups and plates around the store. What's really funny is my family members that shop from here sent me there, they are also from out of state and have been buying wholesale from them, even if its just a couple of items. They lost about a thousand dollars worth of my business today. With the attitude of the family there, they better start putting their act together before they go out of business. read more

They're a family owned business with 2 locations. Very friendly people! They have two locations, one in San Gabriel and one in Ontario. I went to the one in San Gabriel which one has the parents, and their 2 sons working there. The other son's work at the Ontario location apparently. Very nice and friendly people. They greeted me once I walked in and asked if I needed any help with anything. I got to know them a little, they made sure we had the right supplies we needed. If I had all the money in world, I would buy the whole place! Theres everything you need to run a restaurant in there!! The prices are really affordable and reasonable. I was there with my friend for his restaurant, so I wasnt the one doing the shopping, but I helped! =) If I ever open a restaurant, I will definitely come here for all my restaurant equipment needs. Plus, I like supporting the family owned business, feels more comfortable to be at. read more
