Yum! That is all!! Haha these guys have some tough competition with Brothers and Harry just 10 mins away but my goodness they are good. The meats juicy and tender, salad's fresh, chippies to soak up the sauce but what tops it is the warmed fluffy pita bread that wraps it all up. Only down side is that there's not much selection but that's personally not an issue for me I always go for chicken anyway!

Pork gyro on the left and mixed pork and chicken gyro on the right as combo's with chips and a can of soft drink (not pictured)

These guys serve one of the better greek style kebabs/gyradikos going around. Definitely go the pork or the chicken.

Traditional Gyradiko has opened up in Rosebery!!!!…read more I've heard about this place out in Bexley but since that's a bit of a trek...never made it out there. Well hot damn I'm so glad it just opened up out this way. You can get takeaway or eat in...if you eat in you can bring the whole family as there's plenty of space. They serve alcohol too...what's not to like? You can get a gyro for $9, and if you want chips and a drink just tack on $5...can you say value?!? They have other dishes, but some weren't available yet like their burgers (I will eat you...maybe not now...but I will eat you.) I got the pork gyro and it was fan-fuggin-tastic. Tender meat and their chips are really really good...they must sprinkle the good stuff on them. They also make their own sauces, and I loved their aioli. Will definitely be back to get more gyro goodness as well as trying their platters.

Went to try the food here after it had been named as one of the top 5 gyros in Sydney (xplore)…read more While neither of us actually ordered gyro we were not disappointed. We both ordered a plate which came with crispy, pork cooked to perfection. If you enjoy crackling, get the pork! Side of tasty chips, fresh greek salad, good sized portion of tzatziki and AMAZING pita bread. The small platter cost $16 including a soft drink and the portion size was more than enough for me. The staff were also friendly and chatted to all of the customers who came through. Plenty of seating as well as being a take away shop. Will definitely be going back for a gyro!

When you combine two great things like envelopes, and wheat, you get the Pita bread. The Hellenic offers the very best in Greek street food, without compromising your budget. Despite it being a order at the counter, kind of place, the service and the staff are fantastic, the wraps are cooked right in-front of your eyes, on a large burner behind the counter, with all their fresh ingredients laid out for you to see, which affords the place that fresh street-food vibe. They also stock a wide range of greek sodas, I recommend you avoid the grape juice flavoured soda which I ordered, as it only ends up tasting like carbonated prune juice.. unless of course, that's your thing (eeeeeeek!). Luckily for me, my pita was flavoursome enough to overpower that foul prune juice after-taste. I ordered the the Kalamaras ($8.90); which is a thick pita delightfully packed with lightly grilled Haloumi, Spanish onion, tomato and chips, as well as a generous dollop of tzatziki (I could write a whole review on how deliciously creamy the Tzatziki was, with it's strong kick of garlic). My partner ordered the Baba Yianni - lamb pita ($8.90), which he equally raved about in terms of flavours and how well they worked together. I could not recommend this place enough, it's a real treat for Vegetarians and meat-eaters alike!

I dunno what, but Athenian did not live up to my expectations, or my admittedly distant memories of a fine lunch had long ago. Went with a party of about 7 for Friday night after after-works drinks, (always a bit risky I guess) and all pretty hungry. Got a table no problem, (bit surprising on a Friday night) and away we went. Dolmades, spanokopita, tzatziki, taramasalata, pita bread, calamari for entrees. Hmm. The calamari was a mixture of baby calamari leggy bits and strips of tune - seemed ok but a bit greasy. Spanokopita, nice, dips, nice, pita bread, fresh but a bit greasy. Dolmades, ok but a bit soft. Mains, for most, was the lamb shoulder in one form or another, in my case with braised veg, and my fellow diners with with a mixture of roasties and salad. The lamb was well cooked, but a bit greasy, and my veg was braised regrettably long, to the point where it all tasted the same - and a bit greasy. Common theme appearing here, right? To be fair, there was nothing really wrong with it all (except it was a bit greasy) but nothing really memorable or especially right with it either. I'll probably give it another go for old times sake, but on the basis of this meal I would say there is much better Greek to be had in the area.

Had an excellent eggplant and feta dip with pita and the Athenian mixed special (lamb and various vegetables/leaves stuffed with spiced mince and sometimes cheese) - all very tasty. Slow cooked beef looked excellent. Decent, well-priced wine list. Pleasant service, great for groups.
