I'm honestly very shocked by how much I liked the curry. I opted for the vegetarian option, called roasted veggie kare, which included onions, carrots, celery, and zucchini. A typical Japanese curry features potatoes and carrots, but there were no potatoes at all. In its place was a surplus of onions. It was too much to the point where I had to throw it away. The food came out hot and fresh and the ratio of curry to rice wasn't bad. I liked that it came with a dollop of potato salad and pickled veggies to cut the strong flavor of the curry. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Guzzu Bento-ya is the definition of a hidden gem because it looks so unassuming from the outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A big bonus is that there's a parking lot available right in front. It's an order-first and find-your-seat-after type of place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We came as a group of 5 and there was a large, beautiful table in the center that was able to seat all of us with room to spare.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are also several other smaller tables along the wall, so plenty of dining space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Not sure how this place does not have more customers! It should be blowing up on tiktok and the foodie spot lists. I've lived throughout LA the last 10 years and today was the first time stopping by. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only people who seem to frequent this place are workers nearby on lunchtime or company catering or doordash deliveries.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You should come and eat here! Amazing quality and affordable bento with different protein selections. It's actually probably the best I've had in LA. You have all these mediocre spots in places with high foot traffic like Little Tokyo and Grand Central Market serving up mediocre Japanese food and then there's places like this with barely any customers. It's a shame!

Miso Katsu Pork Premium Bento 5/5 Grilled Chicken Premium Chicken 5/5 Service 5/5 Overall 5/5 I've been wanting to order a bento box from here for ages - and I finally got to try today! The food is delicious and beautifully prepared. Guzzu Bento-ya is hidden amongst the warehouses of the Arts District. They are only open for lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a nice dining area inside but I took the bento boxes to go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The next time I order I think I'll bring the bento boxes to a spring picnic at LA State Historic Park. The staff pack the bento boxes neatly with everything you need for a picnic (utensils and napkins). Each bite was flavorful and fresh - exquisitely seasoned. I loved all the veggies and the potato salad that came with the premium bento box. I want to try the Spicy Karaage next time.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is tugged away from major street but they have very nice interior decoration and tasty food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered 2- tiers plate with grilled fish. It was recommended and did not disappoint. Fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. Side dishes were also amazing. Highly recommended.

Good food & portions for affordable prices, but its located in a bad area with very little parking. Food came out relatively quick and the meat was super tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not too much seating inside and all self service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall the location was not inviting and its an odd place to have a restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Id come here again if it was located elsewhere.

I ordered this via delivery, so this review will be based on that instead of eating at the location, and I am honestly blown away. Even though I didn't eat at the actual shop, the delivery presentation was really well done. I ordered the premium chicken bento, and the presentation was impressive. It comes in a two-tier setup where the chicken and rice are in one section and all the veggies and sides are in another. It felt very high-end for a delivery meal. The chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful. I really appreciated the sauce they used because it wasn't that overly sweet, generic teriyaki stuff you find at most places. It had a great balance, smoky flavor, and worked so well with the rice and chicken. The sides were just as good as the main course. The veggies were super crisp and fresh. I loved the potato salad and the pickled cabbage, but the standout for me was the savory, soy-infused potatoes. This is easily one of the best delivery meals I've had in the last 30 days. I highly recommend giving them a try. I'm definitely going to be ordering from here again soon to have my whole office try it out because this place is too good.

Finally tried guzzu bento-ya after having it on my list for years and really enjoyed it! I tried the wild salmon premium bento box and was pleasantly surprised at all the things it came with! Super easy to order ahead online and food was ready when I arrived to pick up the next day. There's a few parking spots in front of the restaurant. Everything was well packed and such a delight to eat! I'll definitely return for the bento boxes!

I wish I'd found out about this place sooner!! We were looking for something we could order/pick up easily. The online ordering process was smooth/easy. And so happy we chose here...Such a solid bento with amazing sides. My sister got the mackerel and I got the chicken premium. She loved it! Great char, deboned (mostly? She found 1 bone haha), she loved the potato salad. My chicken was charred, juicy and quite a lot! I loveeee the sides: carrots, pickled cabbages, potato salad, tofu, sweet potato, broccoli. Honestly I really couldn't fault any of them and loved them all. Tofu was so saturated with flavor, the cabbages and carrots were good to eat with the chicken as it brought some acid, and the sweet potato (my fav) I saved for the end as a dessert! I've read some reviews that said it's a bit pricey but honestly, with the prices these days, theirs is just right for the quality they give [[HIGHLIGHT]]ALSO the aesthetic! From the outside, I was confused where we were, but so discombobulating when you step in haha what a reflection of DTLA.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Umm what a gem! This place is a little isolated around the arts district? and I couldn't have been more happy to have tried it. My friend and I decided to get lunch after our morning lagree at Lagree213 and I'm so glad she recommended this place! I got the Salmon premium bento and wow the flavors were soo good. I loved every little side dish that came on in the second tier, especially the caramelized sweet potato. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would go here again and dine in the next time I'm in the area because the place actually looked super cute with a large communal table and seats all around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] What a great lunch spot! The cashier was very prompt and helpful as well. Overall, 10/10 would come again!

This is the most delicious beautiful bento box I ever had. Everything in it is so flavorful and the salmon is so tender and melts in your mouth. Will be coming here more, amazing omg

I ordered the 2-tier chicken bento box, pork curry, and both were absolutely delicious. As someone who eats a lot of Japanese food, I can say the flavors here really stand out, everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and the pork curry was rich, flavorful. The matcha latte needs more sweetener. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space itself is small and cozy with a cute anime-themed atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The employees were also very helpful and nice when I ask a lot of questions. Definitely a spot I'd come back to!

Best lunch spot in LA! The inside is super cute and hip. It's such a cool hangout spot. The bento boxes have so much food and each one is filled with so many yummy sides. My go to favorite is their curry. It is honestly the best curry out there. Nothing really compares. The service is top notch too. Everyone is so helpful and kind!

Ordered the Grilled Chicken Bento via UberEats and it took an hour which was understandable since I ordered it at 11:30am. The Grilled Chicken Bento ($21 on Uber Eats & $17 at restaurant) came very neatly prepared in two boxes stacked on top of each other. One box contained rice and grilled chicken and the other box contained a small side of potato salad, pickled purple cabbage, roasted sweet potatoes, crispy lotus roots, broccoli, sliced carrots and cobo, and fried tofu curd. The grilled chicken wasn't as delicious as I was expecting unfortunately. The top of the chicken was slightly too burnt and the inside wasn't as juicy and tender as I was hoping. It was quite dry and disappointing. This was 6/10. The sides were wonderful. The veggies were very fresh and delicious. I especially loved the potato salad and wished it came with more! The crispy lotus root was very good too but it just came with one slice! The roasted sweet potatoes was very sweet and yummy! The sides were 9/10 I'll definitely get the Norwegian Mackerel Plate again and possibly try the Salmon Plate but won't get the Grilled Chicken Plate again unfortunately. Still really enjoy this restaurant but I'd recommend skipping the Grilled Chicken Plate!

This was one of the places that we had on a list that we were considering for event venues. It was much smaller than I expected but it could still work for our party. We originally weren't planning to eat here since we had other places to check out but my friends already had a table so we came by to say hi. They tried the food but I didn't so I will skip that part here. Service unfortunately felt very awkward and weird. This takes away from the ambiance in my opinion. We did consider ordering something like dessert (but weren't too keen on the menu) in the short time we were there as a courtesy but it felt very forced and in hindsight would have taken too much time. It just didn't feel warm or friendly at all. Same vibes from hotel staff too (it's inside the Garden Suite Hotel which makes parking slightly easier compared to the rest of the area). We may still return to book an event but to be completely honest I'm not personally inclined to visit again after this experience.

But for price to portion ratio, it simply isn't worth it. I ordered the skirt steak. 4 oz, cut in half. Cooked down to what looked like .5 oz! Each on a toothpick sitting in a paper plate (or maybe it was cupcake holder?) IDK. I just know it wasn't a good presentation and the taste wasn't memorable. Regular. More grill smell than taste. Not at all worth $8. Service: Really nice. And mostly good. Though they did fail short by (1) Using only small appetizer size plates and (2) Not bringing a fresh plate to eat the crab fried rice on after the peanut butter sauce laced tamale appetizer was eaten. The server brought the fried rice, but didn't bother to give us fresh plates (nor silverware). My son was mortified when I grabbed a plate from one of the empty tables! (Teenager energy on full effect). But after initial attentive service, the variety of different servers whizzing by didn't stop to ask if we needed anything. And I sat waiting at least 8 minutes staring at the rice. I assured my young man that the servers would be fine with me getting another plate to save them from having to. And once I did, he suddenly started eating from my plate of my peanut butter free fried rice. And of course, when a server did attend to us and I let her know, she was glad I took matters into my own hands instead of not eating for 15 minutes. Thoughts: Go for dinner, and order from the full dinner menu, skip the skimpy street eats menu. With reservations you can sit in the main restaurant area that has some view to the outdoors. Without it - back to the black room you go! Know that it will be expensive. And it will be original. Not sure I'll go back. It's very "special occasion" upscale dining. But If I do it'll be with reservations. The meal was memorable and worth experiencing.

We got here Friday evening for some drinks and Korean comfort food. Parking wasn't terrible but we did have to walk a few blocks. The servers were friendly and attentive and got us the beer and soju we ordered quickly. The drinks were yummy and easy to go down, it paired really well with the hearty food that came with it. The food came out hot and fresh. The kimchi pancakes were nice and crispy on the outside and had a nice chewy center with tangy crunches of kimchi. It balanced very well with the sauce they had, I liked it a lot. We ordered the honey nutty butter wings, it was fried well and came with a couple of tteokbokki. Personally it was a bit too sweet for me, I was craving some heat or acid to balance out the sauce. From the name I thought it would be a nutty sauce, but it was coated in honey butter and the nutty part was just a couple slivers of nuts sprinkled on top. I'd probably try a different flavour next time. Overall a really fun experiment and would definitely recommend you stopping by if you're looking for that kind of vibe.

Tao just happens to be a part of that moment.  We got last minute reservations here, rearranged the time slot, ordered drinks while we waited for a table to be ready and set. I've been here multiple times with an attire of dressing up, dressing down and in between. I would prefer to dress up for this restaurant setting. So please be mindful if planning to visit and put on your look and feel your best fit. Tao is an intimate dim lighted setting with an exotic interior approach. I would suggest dining here for an intimate date, womanly dinner or a treat yourself at night. You may also find some interesting folks here.  I ordered espresso martinis and proseccos while present. Nothing extraordinary here...just some drinks for the occasion and to sip on. For our plates, we ordered the lobster fried rice and the crispy snapper in "Sand" dish. The presentation of the snapper and taste was worthy. Apparently, the crunchy crispy part of the fish tasted like chicharron lol (the way the word was presented was so cute). But hey chicharron can also be prepared with fish honestly. Digital shout out to the chefs for the glorious look of the plate. I was impressed. Our server was busy but yet attentive and sweet. She also treated us with a dessert as we were celebrating a birthday ahha :)  Of course, I will be back. I'm curious to try some more menu items and fill my intimate cup here.

The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor & outdoor seating available with limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. I mention these things in my reviews for the sake of protecting immunocompromised people like the elderly and people sick with cancer and other illnesses. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was eating my food in this establishment several months ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they were offering some at the moment. They currently do have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is located behind the restaurant at a local medical building parking lot. It's $1 each 9 minutes with a max of $13. Or you can try to find street parking and walk on over. Food: I ordered a Lychee Martini, Saigon Summer, Mamasan's Shrimp Cake Skewers, Truffle Wok Seared Noodles with Scallop, Slow-Drip Vietnamese Coffee Flan, and Banyan Tree Ice Cream. Before I started ordering, I was immediately given some house made complimentary shrimp chips. I loved how light and airy it was. It also had an amazing crunch. It tasted just like shrimps hahaha. My lychee martini was a crisp, refreshing cocktail that perfectly balances floral sweetness with tart acidity. Order this! The Saigon summer is a spicy, tropical blend of tequila, lime leaf liqueur, agave, butterfly pea infused triplum, and a Thai chili infusion. Not really up my alley, but I'm glad I was able to try it out. I think I dislike anything spicy and super bitter in my drinks. It just tasted odd. Mamasan's shrimp cake skewers features crispy, deep-fried shrimp cakes flavored with kaffir lime and lemongrass. It is served with skewers, charred pineapple, and a sweet garlic chili dip. Definitely get this. It was so crunchy, massive, and mouthwatering. The charred pineapple provided a sour yet sweet taste that helped off set the savory seafood / fishy taste in your mouth. The truffle wok seared noodles with scallop is a dish that combines savory, smoky flavor with luxurious truffle and tender scallops, which bridges the gap between classic Asian stir-fry and Italian comfort food. As a massive sucker for Italian food and all things truffle, this dish was my favorite. The al dente handmade egg noodles were wok-tossed in a rich black truffle sauce with delicious mushrooms, fresh Brussels sprout leaves, and perfectly seared scallops. I loved that I could taste the black truffles. The truffles added a nice rich, earthy, and highly savory flavor with prominent notes roasted nuts. GET THIS DISH!!!!! The slow-drip Vietnamese coffee flan is a silky, rich egg custard infused with bold phin-drip coffee and sweetened condensed milk. It offers a perfect balance of bitter roasted coffee and sweet creamy custard. This dish was super smooth, creamy, and delicious. I loved that Star Leaf added their own twist to this dish by putting a caramel golden cage on top of this already phenomenal tasting dessert. The caramel golden cage gave this flan a nice crunch. This dish wasn't too sweet for me. As a hater of super sweet things, this flan was just right. The banyan tree ice cream was a great way to end the meal. Super refreshing! I got two scoops of Thai tea ice cream and one scoop of the coconut ice cream. Both flavors were fantastic and tasted very creamy. Not too sweet, which is how I like it. Staff: The staff here are very attentive, friendly, welcoming, and polite. Elysha waited on me when I went. She was very attentive, informative, and personable. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.
