I'm honestly very shocked by how much I liked the curry. I opted for the vegetarian option, called roasted veggie kare, which included onions, carrots, celery, and zucchini. A typical Japanese curry features potatoes and carrots, but there were no potatoes at all. In its place was a surplus of onions. It was too much to the point where I had to throw it away. The food came out hot and fresh and the ratio of curry to rice wasn't bad. I liked that it came with a dollop of potato salad and pickled veggies to cut the strong flavor of the curry. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Guzzu Bento-ya is the definition of a hidden gem because it looks so unassuming from the outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A big bonus is that there's a parking lot available right in front. It's an order-first and find-your-seat-after type of place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We came as a group of 5 and there was a large, beautiful table in the center that was able to seat all of us with room to spare.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are also several other smaller tables along the wall, so plenty of dining space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Not sure how this place does not have more customers! It should be blowing up on tiktok and the foodie spot lists. I've lived throughout LA the last 10 years and today was the first time stopping by. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only people who seem to frequent this place are workers nearby on lunchtime or company catering or doordash deliveries.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You should come and eat here! Amazing quality and affordable bento with different protein selections. It's actually probably the best I've had in LA. You have all these mediocre spots in places with high foot traffic like Little Tokyo and Grand Central Market serving up mediocre Japanese food and then there's places like this with barely any customers. It's a shame!

Miso Katsu Pork Premium Bento 5/5 Grilled Chicken Premium Chicken 5/5 Service 5/5 Overall 5/5 I've been wanting to order a bento box from here for ages - and I finally got to try today! The food is delicious and beautifully prepared. Guzzu Bento-ya is hidden amongst the warehouses of the Arts District. They are only open for lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a nice dining area inside but I took the bento boxes to go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The next time I order I think I'll bring the bento boxes to a spring picnic at LA State Historic Park. The staff pack the bento boxes neatly with everything you need for a picnic (utensils and napkins). Each bite was flavorful and fresh - exquisitely seasoned. I loved all the veggies and the potato salad that came with the premium bento box. I want to try the Spicy Karaage next time.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is tugged away from major street but they have very nice interior decoration and tasty food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered 2- tiers plate with grilled fish. It was recommended and did not disappoint. Fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. Side dishes were also amazing. Highly recommended.

Good food & portions for affordable prices, but its located in a bad area with very little parking. Food came out relatively quick and the meat was super tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not too much seating inside and all self service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall the location was not inviting and its an odd place to have a restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Id come here again if it was located elsewhere.

I ordered this via delivery, so this review will be based on that instead of eating at the location, and I am honestly blown away. Even though I didn't eat at the actual shop, the delivery presentation was really well done. I ordered the premium chicken bento, and the presentation was impressive. It comes in a two-tier setup where the chicken and rice are in one section and all the veggies and sides are in another. It felt very high-end for a delivery meal. The chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful. I really appreciated the sauce they used because it wasn't that overly sweet, generic teriyaki stuff you find at most places. It had a great balance, smoky flavor, and worked so well with the rice and chicken. The sides were just as good as the main course. The veggies were super crisp and fresh. I loved the potato salad and the pickled cabbage, but the standout for me was the savory, soy-infused potatoes. This is easily one of the best delivery meals I've had in the last 30 days. I highly recommend giving them a try. I'm definitely going to be ordering from here again soon to have my whole office try it out because this place is too good.

Finally tried guzzu bento-ya after having it on my list for years and really enjoyed it! I tried the wild salmon premium bento box and was pleasantly surprised at all the things it came with! Super easy to order ahead online and food was ready when I arrived to pick up the next day. There's a few parking spots in front of the restaurant. Everything was well packed and such a delight to eat! I'll definitely return for the bento boxes!

I wish I'd found out about this place sooner!! We were looking for something we could order/pick up easily. The online ordering process was smooth/easy. And so happy we chose here...Such a solid bento with amazing sides. My sister got the mackerel and I got the chicken premium. She loved it! Great char, deboned (mostly? She found 1 bone haha), she loved the potato salad. My chicken was charred, juicy and quite a lot! I loveeee the sides: carrots, pickled cabbages, potato salad, tofu, sweet potato, broccoli. Honestly I really couldn't fault any of them and loved them all. Tofu was so saturated with flavor, the cabbages and carrots were good to eat with the chicken as it brought some acid, and the sweet potato (my fav) I saved for the end as a dessert! I've read some reviews that said it's a bit pricey but honestly, with the prices these days, theirs is just right for the quality they give [[HIGHLIGHT]]ALSO the aesthetic! From the outside, I was confused where we were, but so discombobulating when you step in haha what a reflection of DTLA.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Umm what a gem! This place is a little isolated around the arts district? and I couldn't have been more happy to have tried it. My friend and I decided to get lunch after our morning lagree at Lagree213 and I'm so glad she recommended this place! I got the Salmon premium bento and wow the flavors were soo good. I loved every little side dish that came on in the second tier, especially the caramelized sweet potato. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would go here again and dine in the next time I'm in the area because the place actually looked super cute with a large communal table and seats all around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] What a great lunch spot! The cashier was very prompt and helpful as well. Overall, 10/10 would come again!

This is the most delicious beautiful bento box I ever had. Everything in it is so flavorful and the salmon is so tender and melts in your mouth. Will be coming here more, amazing omg

I ordered the 2-tier chicken bento box, pork curry, and both were absolutely delicious. As someone who eats a lot of Japanese food, I can say the flavors here really stand out, everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and the pork curry was rich, flavorful. The matcha latte needs more sweetener. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space itself is small and cozy with a cute anime-themed atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The employees were also very helpful and nice when I ask a lot of questions. Definitely a spot I'd come back to!

Best lunch spot in LA! The inside is super cute and hip. It's such a cool hangout spot. The bento boxes have so much food and each one is filled with so many yummy sides. My go to favorite is their curry. It is honestly the best curry out there. Nothing really compares. The service is top notch too. Everyone is so helpful and kind!

Ordered the Grilled Chicken Bento via UberEats and it took an hour which was understandable since I ordered it at 11:30am. The Grilled Chicken Bento ($21 on Uber Eats & $17 at restaurant) came very neatly prepared in two boxes stacked on top of each other. One box contained rice and grilled chicken and the other box contained a small side of potato salad, pickled purple cabbage, roasted sweet potatoes, crispy lotus roots, broccoli, sliced carrots and cobo, and fried tofu curd. The grilled chicken wasn't as delicious as I was expecting unfortunately. The top of the chicken was slightly too burnt and the inside wasn't as juicy and tender as I was hoping. It was quite dry and disappointing. This was 6/10. The sides were wonderful. The veggies were very fresh and delicious. I especially loved the potato salad and wished it came with more! The crispy lotus root was very good too but it just came with one slice! The roasted sweet potatoes was very sweet and yummy! The sides were 9/10 I'll definitely get the Norwegian Mackerel Plate again and possibly try the Salmon Plate but won't get the Grilled Chicken Plate again unfortunately. Still really enjoy this restaurant but I'd recommend skipping the Grilled Chicken Plate!

The sea urchins one is creamy and VERY RICH. The cream sauce bend in really well with the sea urchins. But definitely not something you would order if you are on a weaker stomach. The duck udon is flavorful with plenty of meat. The soup pair perfectly with the udon as well. There was a line outside before it opened. But not too bad. Udon noodles were good, but it was not excellent. It did have light chewy texture. BUT in comparison to Meiji Seimen, it fell short, really short! I was disappointed. BEEF BOWL It was delicious! Beef was tender and moist and loved the caramelized onion too. Rice was delicious too, not dry nor mushy. Served with pickled red ginger. A very satisfying bowl. Sat at the bar, so watched them make udon from scratch, which was nice. WAIT LIST There was a line when I got there, just as it opened. It wasn't long, but everyone wrote their name down on a wait list. There's a sheet of paper placed on the table outside. Please write your name down ASAP, as that will help in making sure that you will grab a seat. Also, the lines are disorganized too, so it's best to write down your name, so no one cuts in front of you. It is a small restaurant. Limited seats. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was okay. Everyone got in the restaurant in the order they came in. Service was quick and there were no delays in taking orders. The server came by quickly and dropped off the check as she saw that I was nearly finished with my meal. PARKING Parked at Joe's Autoparks. It was $15! I did not know until after I paid the ticket. Very difficult to find parking in this area, so not many options unless you want to walk really far, back to your car in 90 degree heat. There was another parking garage next to Joe's, but the price was the same! Would I come back again? Not sure. Given that the udon wasn't what I expected, it may be my last time here. Also, parking sucks.

While the spicy tuna roll was enjoyable, the nigiri and sashimi were easily the highlights. The salmon and yellowtail nigiri had exceptionally smooth, buttery textures that practically melted on the tongue. Each slice of sashimi was delicate and remarkably fresh, with a clean flavor and no hint of fishiness. **Salmon Ikura Don: 4/5** This donburi featured salmon sashimi and ikura served over rice with avocado and a spring salad mix. The salmon was tender and silky, pairing beautifully with the ikura, which provided bright bursts of brininess and a satisfying pop with each bite. Underneath, the rice was perfectly cooked, while creamy slices of avocado complemented the richness of the fish. My only complaint was the spring salad mix, which felt somewhat out of place among the other ingredients and didn't contribute much to the bowl. With well-executed dishes and warm hospitality, Izakaya Osen delivered an incredible dining experience that left a lasting impression. The combination of exceptional quality and excellent value makes this a restaurant I'd happily return to.

I am not joking when I say they were the best restaurant gyoza I've had in Los Angeles. Juicy, warm, nice golden crisp on the bottom, and flavorful filling. The baked scallop roll was my personal favorite of the three; it was warm and savory, with an excellent bite from the juicy scallops. To be clear, you really can't go wrong with any of the restaurants on this street and I recommend just going with whichever one has the shortest wait when you show up. Thankfully we only had to wait about 20 minutes and got a table inside. There were 6 of us and they made us squeeze into a booth built for 4 which was a little annoying but we made it work. I ordered their signature Daikoku Ramen which was very flavorful and filling, just wish there had been more meat! My husband got the poke bowl with salmon and tuna which is a great dish for those on the protein grind. Service was mixed, they brought some dishes out immediately and then others in our group had to wait longer to get their food. Overall food was tasty and I would go back.

Wow. Lately it's been hard to find a restaurant that genuinely surprises me, but Budonoki proved…read moreit's still possible. This was easily a 5-star experience for both the food and the exceptional service. We came in without a reservation, put our names on the waitlist, and were seated in about 30 minutes. Definitely worth the wait. We started with the tuna handroll, except it's not really served as a traditional handroll. The fresh tuna comes in a bowl surrounded by crispy, crunchy rice, with nori sheets on the side so you build each bite yourself. Super fresh and such a fun way to start. Then came the chicken wings -- to die for. So flavorful and Korean AF in the best possible way. Probably one of my favorite dishes of the night. The salmon rice was good, but honestly nothing too special compared to everything else we tried. The wagyu pasta, though, was incredibly rich and packed with flavor. Then the wagyu empanadas surprised me all over again. Such a unique combination and flavors I really haven't had anywhere else. We ended with the banana ice cream and it was the perfect ending. But I have to give just as much credit to the service. Beyond exceptional. Everything was extremely organized and the entire staff worked like one team. Just because we had a waiter didn't mean only that person took care of us -- everyone was helping, checking on the table, clearing plates and bringing things out. It genuinely felt like we were welcomed and taken care of by the entire team. Budonoki is exactly what I've been missing lately: creative food, unexpected flavors, fresh ingredients and service that actually adds to the experience. It's rare for a restaurant to surprise me this much anymore, but this one did. The ambiance matched the food perfectly. The space is dimly lit, dark and cozy, giving it an intimate feel without trying too hard. It's the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to settle in, order a bunch of dishes to share and stay awhile.

Not worth the hype. Food was below average, limited and overpriced for what it actually is. Vibey…read morebut not recommend for food. Japanese Sweet potato was some absurd price and you can get better quality and quantity and price at Hmart - cooked and served warm. Steak meat was chewy.

The pacific oysters are a good size and I really enjoyed the yuzu-kosho ponzu sauce on it. The spicy tuna crispy rice have a good amount of spicy tuna on top & I loved how crispy they made the rice underneath. The Kodo trio comes with uni, toro, & wagyu and the Toro sampler comes with o-toro, chu-toro, akami. All of these handrolls were phenomenal & just left you wanting more. The Wagyu katsu you cook on a hot stone at the table which I liked as an interactive dish. The Wagyu cheeseburger was dripping with juice but still had those crunchy edges. The Uni pasta was beautiful & delicious. The Chimichurri prawns I could eat multiple plates of- the shell comes sliced down the middle so you just have to peel it off. For dessert we ordered the Kodo basque cheesecake & Miso chocolate torte. I love a basque cheesecake & the sesame crumble added great texture. The miso chocolate torte made me wish I ordered my own. Everything from start to finish was amazing, it's hard to pick favorites. Parking- valet $13
