Super worth it for 20 dollars for the 2 tier bento. I love the fresh ingredients they use and their well packaged lunches. They also have good parking since it's not a busy area hidden in the fashion/arts district. It's more of a pick up spot but there's actually seating inside as well. I also noticed that the prices when ordering online are 2-3 dollars more expensive so I recommend actually going in and ordering it there since it's cheaper. I got their spicy karage 2 tier lunch box and absolutely devoured it. It can definitely be a meal that can be split because there's a ton of rice and I was so full after. A side dish I want to high light is their potato egg salad which I really enjoyed and their miso cured egg yolk that paired well with the rice. All their marinated and picked veggies paired really well with the rice. The purple picked veggies were very spicy though. The karage was spicy and crispy. I will say that it was just a little overdone for my liking since there was a bitter taste but that could have been coming from the seasoning so I think next time I'll just get the soy glaze instead. I'm honestly very shocked by how much I liked the curry. I opted for the vegetarian option, called roasted veggie kare, which included onions, carrots, celery, and zucchini. A typical Japanese curry features potatoes and carrots, but there were no potatoes at all. In its place was a surplus of onions. It was too much to the point where I had to throw it away. The food came out hot and fresh and the ratio of curry to rice wasn't bad. I liked that it came with a dollop of potato salad and pickled veggies to cut the strong flavor of the curry. Guzzu Bento-ya is the definition of a hidden gem because it looks so unassuming from the outside. A big bonus is that there's a parking lot available right in front. The only people who seem to frequent this place are workers nearby on lunchtime or company catering or doordash deliveries. You should come and eat here! I ordered this via delivery, so this review will be based on that instead of eating at the location, and I am honestly blown away. Even though I didn't eat at the actual shop, the delivery presentation was really well done. I ordered the premium chicken bento, and the presentation was impressive. It comes in a two-tier setup where the chicken and rice are in one section and all the veggies and sides are in another. It felt very high-end for a delivery meal. The chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful. I really appreciated the sauce they used because it wasn't that overly sweet, generic teriyaki stuff you find at most places. It had a great balance, smoky flavor, and worked so well with the rice and chicken. The sides were just as good as the main course. The veggies were super crisp and fresh. This place offers a small variety of bento boxes, ranging from grilled chicken to katsu pork or tofu and other assortments of drinks, appetizers and even Japanese curry. I kept things simple and got a one tier grilled chicken bento box. Even though the wait was really long, the food made it worth it. You could tell that the food here is fresh and of a high quality, and most importantly, they give some really fair portions for what you pay. I think my bento box had more chicken than it did rice! Minus one star because the wait was exceptionally long. Some of us got our food first while people who ordered after us got their food before some of my friends? It was really confusing. The Grilled Chicken Bento ($21 on Uber Eats & $17 at restaurant) came very neatly prepared in two boxes stacked on top of each other. One box contained rice and grilled chicken and the other box contained a small side of potato salad, pickled purple cabbage, roasted sweet potatoes, crispy lotus roots, broccoli, sliced carrots and cobo, and fried tofu curd. The grilled chicken wasn't as delicious as I was expecting unfortunately. The top of the chicken was slightly too burnt and the inside wasn't as juicy and tender as I was hoping. It was quite dry and disappointing. This was 6/10. The sides were wonderful. The veggies were very fresh and delicious. I especially loved the potato salad and wished it came with more! The crispy lotus root was very good too but it just came with one slice! The roasted sweet potatoes was very sweet and yummy! The sides were 9/10 I'll definitely get the Norwegian Mackerel Plate again and possibly try the Salmon Plate but won't get the Grilled Chicken Plate again unfortunately. Guzzu Bento-ya has some incredible artwork on its walls but also in the surrounding neighborhood. The menu is short and sweet, I got the grilled chicken bento (amaaaaazing) and the BBQ smoky flavor hit the spot. My husband got the chicken sando on milk bread (he loved it, and it was juicy, well sauced, and flavorful. Our daughter ordered the katsu curry, delicious as well, great mild curry flavor. The inside betrays the exterior completely- it's beautiful inside, like a bar. I loved the decor, it really is a huge step up from any other bento place I'd been to before. This is the best bento place I've ever had hands down. I've tried this place multiple times before writing the review and have tried every premium bento on their menu. My favorite is a tie between the tonkatsu and the mackerel premium bento. The tonkatsu is always thick and juicy on the inside with a nice thin crispy breading on the outside. They provide plenty of rice and shredded cabbage below the tonkatsu too. The mackerel is full of flavor and not overly salty. The meat never tastes or feels dry. The remaining other small bites are contained in a separate box of the bento. I've noticed that they vary based on which bento box you get. They all taste very delicious and are a nice variety. Theres yams, a mini spaghetti, fried lotus root salad, mini mashed potato scoop, shredded carrots, mushrooms, and other cut veggies. Overall, guzzu bentoya is what I expect when I order a bento box.
