With all the prohibition era styled pubs popping up around the city, The Blind Bear was long…read moreoverdue in the Shire. I love how this place does drinks - there's four taps of rotating craft beer/cider, and once they're out they tap a new flavour. They ran out of 2 beers while we were there, and a new keg was quickly tapped each time. They have cardboard signs serving as labels - an easy way to keep the signage current - and at $8-9/pint, its a great way to try different beers without damaging your wallet. For wine they only offer 1 red and 1 white each night, and those change daily. The cocktails are made with care, with a good selection of classics (martini, Manhattan) and some fruity modern conceptions as well. Food was quite good, despite some of the portions being small. The cheesesteak for $16 could easily be consumed in a few bites. The pulled pork for $16 was delicious, served between two toasted pieces of delicious bread (not the "hoagie" I was expecting, but some of the best pulled pork I've had in Australia), and a better serve than the cheesesteak. The sliders were, again, on the small side. At $4/each or 4 for $15, you'd need 4 to make a meal. I found the chicken sliders a bit bland, possibly being overpowered by the potatoes in the garlic mash. The beef sliders were much better, with a delicious pickle relish. Of course, I had to grab the wings (6 for $9 or 12 for $16) which were one of the standouts for the night. A bit sweet at first, they pack a bit of a punch with a heat that builds. The three chip options (chilli cheese fries, sweet potato wedges, and steak fries with chipotle mayo) were all pretty good. Rumour (or rather, Facebook) has it that this place does $0.50 wings and $5 hot dogs on Wednesdays - definitely worth checking out. Come early if you want a table - we managed to grab one of the last of them at 6 pm on a Saturday, and didn't see much turnover during our 3 hour stay.

*****Hands down BEST Mexican in the Sutherland Shire!*****…read more The Big Mexican Rancho is the sister restaurant to the late and great restaurant Fiesta Mexicana, which was situated in Carlton and was our favourite Mexican restaurant in Sydney! As a result of Fiesta Mexicana closing down we did the next best thing and started going to The Big Mexican Rancho in Gymea Bay! The Big Mexican Rancho is a family business, owned and operated by Javier and Nelcy Rojas and has existed in its current location for over 20 years. We came here as a family quite a few times growing up but always preferred the food at Fiesta Mexicana. Transitioning back to The Big Mexican Rancho was however, super easy as I have a sneaky suspicion that some of the cooks from Fiesta Mexicana are now working here because the food is PHENOMENAL! Hot Tips- Some Favourite Menu Options: *Stuffed Jalapeños *Chorizo Sausage *Chilli Con Carne *Deluxe Nachos *ABOVE ALL: You must try their dips!! I always get 3 in 1: Salsa Chilli Con Queso Bean Drinks: *The restaurant is BYO, however if you ask they do make a mean Sangria! Atmosphere: *Always warm and friendly *If you are lucky on your birthday you may even be able to wear a Sombrero! *Bring some coloured pencils and take over the paper table cloth with your wicked drawings and Noughts & Crosses! Book ahead: *It gets super busy on Saturday so a booking is a must!

So much so that we were seated at a table right near the front door almost on top of another table of 4. The waitresses were mainly teenage girls. As you can imagine the service was not the best. However, the food was good. The portion sizes were very filling. My husband and I ordered the 3 in 1 dip, small nachos and each had the enchilada and taco as the main. We didn't finish any of them, that's how big they were. The 3 dips were definitely too much for two people. Better suited for a table of 4 or more. All alcohol is BYO. Drinks are served in Mason jars which was cool. Typical Mexican restaurant decor. Pretty loud and a lot of families with young children. Didn't try dessert as we were stuffed. Would definitely go back as this place has the most authentic Mexican food we have tried in the shire.

The food here is clean & surprisingly vibrant. I found the menu to possess a unique imaginative flare; a welcome salute to modern Mexican cuisine. My friend & I dined here for lunch, both ordering the Chef prepared Lunch Board for a cool $16. We also ordered a starter of Salmon Ceviche to share. The Lunch Board included 2 tacos of our choice (we both opted for the slow braised pork), one of their famous corn lollipops, guacamole, salsa, sour cream & serving of their three bean dip, finished with a serve of corn chips. A pretty epic deal really. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal, rolling out the door full & satisfied. What else can you ask for? A great, new addition to Westfield Miranda. Bravo!

Anyway I came and check it out, a bit feel to nibbles Something light. The lady host was super friendly and greet me at the door asking if I wanted to seat al fresco or dining inside, asked if I have allergic and gave window period for me to read and choose from the menu and approached me for order. Well, I did ordered as following: 1. slow roasted pork taco with chilli caramel salsa 2. Achiote chicken with salsa macha, 3. Corn lollipops with chipotle mayo, queso fresco, coconut and popcorn 4 Margarita Cheesecake Tostadas Ok, corn lollipop is fun to eat, but my opinion chipotle mayo overpowering queso fresco ( Mexican fresh cow milk cheese ) and I barely taste the coconut. Can't default the slow roster pork, chilli caramel salsa was great accompaniment, (sweet and spicy at the same time), for this dish, and bit of scratching was good crunchy note . Chicken taco, those salsa macha was chilli hot, peanuty and sweet honey finished note, not to spicy on my palate, beautifully crafted sauce with extra crunchiness from Mexican slaw. This signature dish, cheese cake, came in 4 bit sizes... Very soft delicate cheese cake with base their version Tostada, I am guessing just kind of oven baked coconut biscuit, ( also toasted coconut flakes) and the hit of tajin salt was telling your brain that you are having "solid" margarita and some more the addition of dehydrated lime bring this dish complete to confused your brain.. Am I drinking margarita or eating cheese cake? Well... You decide!

We have order our drinks first - Mojitos, Margaritas and some mexican beers. My Mojito was really nice and strong. We order our food- Super burritos- (they are extremely big and when you finish them they will give you a beer or shot of your choice). So few of the boys order that and also we had some nachos and fajitas too. The food was very nice and tasty but not really cheap.Mains from $20-$30 and cocktails around $15. Also on Sundays they had a deal $15 for unlimited tacos. That's a peaty good deal. I like the atmosphere in the place and all decorations on the wall. It did had a mexican feeling and will be back there for sure.

My friend went to the bar to order a bottle of wine but was told they were completely out of full bottles so she could only order by the glass (we spotted that she was being poured goon). Everyone ordered drinks (including a couple of $30 Sangria jugs), 3 mains and a couple of chips & dips plates to share. After ordering, the manager told us that next time we come to the restaurant everyone would need to order a main each or would be charged $10 pp as it was a busy night and her boss would be "pissed off" knowing we booked the biggest table and were not all eating mains. After that rude comment we ate and drank and left as soon as we could. I will also mention that after the managers comment all of the staff were rude and inattentive. I will not be returning. That's no way to treat customers who easily spent over $200 in the first 10 minutes.

Before I get started, have to say I'm a California native so I've had my share of Mexican meals - so I'm a bit biased. Decor - nothing special. Had the typical Mexican flair but nothing to stand out. Reminded me of the dirty yet amazing taquerias in San Francisco. Service - 5 stars here. Restaurant was semi-busy but we always felt there was someone around if we needed something. Food - hmmm where to begin. Trio of dips - normall $19.90 We went with the chili con queso, frijol and guac Chips are made on site - not amazing but no real complaints - Frijol (beans) and guac were perfect. The chili con queso was sucked up quickly by my partner but I shunned it after a single bite. It looked like a red soup of oil. Not chili con queso. Enchilada - flavour was missing. Another no go for me. Chimichanga - I've had a fair share of these in my time and this one, while a different shape than I'm used to, was pretty good. Coronas were about $7 a piece - not bad for Cronulla. Overall I really have no complaints and I'd recommend anyone that either hasn't had a lot of Mexican food or those missing it a lot give it a try. nothing special but not a let down. That said, if you really have a hankering for a burrito or taco - guzman y gomez or beach burrito cafe are decent options.

She replied with a sorry and said the drinks were on the house... So we decided to wait a little longer then or staters arrived at an hour and 5 minutes. When our mains came one hour and 25 total my meal had raw pieces of chicken and the rice wasn't cooked, mostly raw and my partners meal was covered in that much oil, Gordon Ramsay has once said before "there is so much oil im surprised the America hasn't fucken invaded the plate". So we only had a few mouth fills and called it quits!! As we were paying the bill there was a lady in front also complaining about the service and food. The cashier had been nice enough to hear my complaint and waved our bill but i was happy to pay for the starter!!! Christmas weekend and peak summer in Cronulla i would have thought that they would have more then 4 people in total working. As we left we could see the annoyed look on other people's faces regarding the service and wait time. Since there is no minus star i have to give a one!!! Sorry but i will never return to this establishment.
