You guys. You know when you walk into H-E-B near the bakery section they have that one little section with puddings and cakes that are in containers? This is the place that makes the delicious puddings! I always grab the banana pudding at H-E-B and had no idea that this was the company that made it. When I walked in, the lady told me about their desserts and how they are in H-E-B... I was instantly hooked! you can see their same pudding selection there on display. They serve super huge portions of ice cream and I had just actually finished a big lunch so I opted for just a scoop of ice cream with some toppings. All they have is vanilla ice cream but the flavors that you can put on top is what steals the show. The super warm pound cake option that they have is divine. You have to give this TEXAS dessert place a try. It is Vanilla Pudding with a drizzle of Cookie Butter and the addition of Biscoff Cookies on top. Just a few things, it is whipped cream textured and the cookies are really soft almost wet. That could be a turn off for some people. But not for me. Look for it at H.E.B. in the frozen section near the cakes. Not in the freezer area, In the cake area, but by the cake area is usually a fridge/freezer, in there it's in a pudding cup. I went back to the store and bought 4 of them. My first thought as I put a spoonful of this into my mouth was "there's a sucker born every minute"! I can't believe I fell for the social media marketing and what must be fake reviews. I paid $8 each for these at my local HEB and stood in front of the cake case making sure it was worth it by looking at these reviews. Boy was I thoroughly disappointed! I got a cookie butter one and a banana one and yes paid $15+ dollars because I love trying new things especially desserts. There was no cake to speak of just layers of Lotus Biscoff cookies and Nilla wafers in something I could have made myself for a heck of a lot cheaper. I stumbled across Guzel Cakes completely by accident - a post showed up in my Instagram feed, so I checked out the page, followed it, and watched a few videos of people trying her desserts. I was intrigued, and my husband has the biggest sweet tooth on earth - and 2 days later was Valentine's Day. I made a note on my calendar to stop at the closest location to me that stocks her desserts yesterday, which happens to be Hebert's Specialty Meats on Richmond near the Galleria. The planets aligned, I was in the area for a work meeting, so I stopped in and scooped up 2 of her "Love You More" desserts - which is her banana pudding. Listen y'all - I'm a southern girl from New Orleans - I've had my fair share. This was, hands down, the best banana pudding I've ever had. It's hard to put into words what makes it so delicious but I think it has to do with flavor (not overly sweet, with almost a background buttermilk note?? Maybe ricotta or cream cheese??) and consistency (thicker and more unctuous and luxurious than the standard runny banana pudding you're used to). Good lord. Not gonna lie - I tried it in the parking lot. And thank goodness I bought 2 - because I continued to eat it the whole way home in the car. This review is about more than her desserts though - it's about her customer service. I DM'd her on Instagram before driving to Hebert's to confirm they had stock, and she was super friendly and responsive, and THEN, the next day, when I decided that I had to have more of this nectar of the gods for my husband's Valentine's Day treat (he's a chocoholic so I wanted some of her chocolatier (is that a word?) desserts, I messaged her again to find out where I could get them, and again, in spite of the fact that I'm sure she's crazy busy on V-Day, she was super sweet and responded right away, and even offered to package up and drop off some specific items for me at Hebert's.
