When I made it clear I wouldn't make the final 1/3rd payment, he said "I have done tons of decks and never get a permit." He then agreed to come and demo/uninstall the work he did and never came back to do that. I am out $20,000 and had to demo the work myself and start over with a new contractor. I would never trust him again as he looked me straight in the face and lied on multiple occasions and I believed each time. I even gave him 3 leads on new jobs while my deck was being constructed.
