I hired Paul from Gutterdone to initially clean my gutters 4 x a year for a set price. The first gutter cleaning was fine and his son, the one who did the cleaning said there were 7 broken tiles that needed replacing. I talked with Paul who noticed some other issues with my roof. We agreed on a price and said work would begin in a week. He stated the job would take no more than a week to complete. First day he shows up and announces that its a "logistics" day and he is there to jot down the material he will need to do the job. I was a bit puzzled since he knew what to charge so based on that wouldn't he know the material needed? During the construction I noticed that his worker was only fixing a 2 foot wide section but I was paying for 4 feet. Called Paul and his worked had to do the additional 2 feet. Paul told me he only used quality wood and didn't use any from Home Depo or Lowes. He gets his wood from Golden Gate Lumber or Richert Lumber. When I noticed the plywood his worker installed had visible cracks throughout it I again notified Paul and they had to tear out and replace it. All-in-all I had to inspect the work done to make sure it was done correctly. I had to tell Paul of the nails driven through the wood that you could clearly see, the roof tiles that weren't positioned correctly, the broken roof tiles that they broke that needed replacing (they just caulked then together) when I told him about it, Paul said he would replace it...he didn't. We did a walk through and things looked ok, I noticed a few things that weren't completed but Paul said he would get them done. I mistakenly paid him what I owed since he apparently needed the money.
Awhile later i decided to get on the ladder and take a look, I noticed some issues that weren't completed so I contacted Paul who flatly refused to do anything else. He stated that he totally underbid the job and that he lost money on it. Doubtful based on the sporadic schedule to show up to work and excuses on why they weren't there (too hot, too cold, too icy, truck got a nail in it, too busy, transmission problem, worker went back to Mexico, equipment was stolen, I have other "fat money making jobs" that I'm not going to pull from.
When it came time for my quarterly gutter cleaning, I had to contact Paul to find out when he was coming out, more excuses that delayed the second cleaning by 2 months. I had to keep in contact in order to get all my cleaning completed. 4 Gutter cleanings finally completed, Roof construction that was suppose to take a week, took well over a month and still not complete, he said he would fix them but never did.
Gutter Cleaning: I grade a C, Construction: I give an F.
In my opinion Paul is by far the the most disorganized, incompetent contractor I have ever hired and I have hired many!
BTW...his dog left me "smelly "presents on his visits! read more
