Stopped here before the Cubs game. Lots of energy. Had a couple of beers and their free hotdogs. Service was quick. Spacious, airy, light, friendly.

My friends and I walked into this tavern on a Saturday night to enjoy a few drinks after a scrumptious dinner. This place was very lively and played good throwback music! We had an out of towner visiting Chicago, so my friends made him try Malort shot as a welcome and I cannot say he liked the taste, but definitely the experience. We were lucky to get a huge table and just relax for the night. The music wasn't too loud and allowed us to casually chat with each other without screaming lol. It's a nice and cool English tavern to just chill with few drinks on a Saturday night! P.S. Look at the interesting graphics they have on the top of the ceiling giving it a cool European touch

You can bring your own food!! Fun and casual trivia. Cocktails are pretty expensive. I love the patio!! Fun bar vibes. I'll be back to drink on the patio and play trivia again.

Guthries is back y'all! After having closed during COVID leaving the neighborhood gutted, Guthrie's has since REOPENED. Despite living in the area for years, I somehow never made it inside this neighborhood pub. Once they reopened, I was sure to change that! I've since been twice and have been kicking myself for letting so many years go without it! Guthries is the kind of neighborhood spot your favorite characters would go in a sitcom. It's a homey local watering hole, and I could not ask for more. For someone who isn't super into beer like myself, they have an awesome variety for ciders available, including my favorite, Vander Mill's Totally Roasted. All the bartenders and servers I've encountered have been super friendly and fun! There are tons of board games available, making it the perfect date spot or place to meet friends. I went with a few friends on Saturday and we laughed our butt off playing trivia. If you get hungry, they're cool with you ordering food in since it's a bar only. Good vibes all around here. If you haven't been, make the visit. You will not be disappointed!

a pint of beer on a bar

A neighborhood staple for decades, Guthrie's is back and better than ever after reopening a year ago after the pandemic caused it to briefly close its doors. There's nothing fancy here, just. whole bunch of neighborhood regulars and fun bartenders having a pint, watching a game, and playing board games. But, what more could you want? They do trivia on Tuesday nights as well, a homespun version, one of the better, more fun trivias you'll find. Always a great hang!

Enjoying the candy land!

Had such a fun time at Guthries. A classic bar in Lakeview, decorated like candy land for a pop up. So cool. They had holiday themed drinks and their beer list is extensive. Every table even had candyland on there!

Guthries is a great bar that does not fit the Wrigleyville norm. It is a very laid back place with drinks that are not overpriced and board games! I will say that these board games have seen better days, but what can you expect when they've passed through so many drunk and grubby hands. The selection is still decent enough and it makes it that much more fun to hang out and drink with your friends! The few times that I've been, the bartenders have been great at suggesting drinks and overall service. Finding seating was rough one time on the weekend when it was crowded, but if you come early enough or on a weeknight it should not be a problem. There is food here (read: pizza and mozzarella sticks are your only two choices), but I have not tried either options. I believe you can BYOF so that's a pretty sweet deal. Then you could have food, drinks, AND board games. This place is really cozy and so far I've really enjoyed my time hanging out here. It's a chill place to hang out with friends and you get to skip a lot of the undesirable characteristics of other nights out at the local Wrigleyville bars. I'll definitely return here!

The staff was super attentive and kind, checking on us frequently. My friend and I stopped by for happy hour, and this should absolutely make it onto the list of the best in town. They have delicious wine, cocktails, and bites for nearly half of the regular price. I opted for the happy hour prosecco to drink, which was light-bodied and not too sweet. We split the meatballs and dates for bites and both were outstanding. I was super impressed with how tender the meatballs were, and they did not skimp on the flavorful marinara and cheese! The dates, which were topped with a white wine cheese sauce, were mouth-wateringly delicious and a must order. There was also complimentary focaccia with olive oil, which was greatly appreciated. With sea salt on top and a crispy exterior, I could easily have eaten a whole loaf. The only note I have is that the portions are small, so if you don't come during happy hour the prices are a bit steep for what you get. Will 100% be back soon to try more of the menu and highly recommend making the trek over here!

However, the bartender was not very nice, and we saw her stick her hand in someone's glass to get something out before serving it... Other than that though the hh glass of red, complementary bread with olive oil, and hh Brussels were all great!

He's been certified for 3 yrs* Upon walking up to the establishment with my fiancé and service dog, there was an officer there wearing a badge. He acknowledged how cute Rory (my service dog) was and stated he was a service dog. He then asked if he could pet Rory, I said yes that would be fine with me. Another gentleman, not sure what role he played at the establishment, approached us while the officer was still there. He began questioning me and Rory's legitimacy on being a service dog since he just saw the officer pet him. I informed him that the officer had asked and I said it was ok. He then said "we have a lot of people that pretend their dogs are service dogs to get them in"; I replied I have his badge and the dog trainer's(dog training elite) number to contact her. He allowed us in. Less than a minute latter when my finance, Rory, and I were walking to a table, the bouncer/manager re-approaches us and says we have to leave predicated on the notion I let an officer say hi and pet Rory after the officer had asked. The law allows establishments to only ask 2 questions when it comes to service animals; 1) Is it a legitimate service animal? 2) What service is the service animal providing? I was only asked #1, if Rory was a service animal, I am allowed to give my service animal a break on occasion and I decide who can and can't say hi to him. Have never been discriminated like this in my life. And will never be returning to the facility.
