Shady is an understatement. The entire "store" is a garage. The owner is rude and doesn't care if he gets your business. I left without transferring a weapon from Gussler's. Needless to say, I won't be back. I ended up going to The Glock Store instead. Total transfer fee was $35 (cheaper than Gussler's), it's a legitimate business, and service was friendly. read more

First time buyer, first time user... Purchase from budsgunshop then transferred to Gusslers as FFL. I was a little taken back by the fact this was done from a garage of a home, however, him and the lady ( I assume his wife), were both very professional, friendly and answered all my questions. They both made me feel welcome considering I didn't know what the F* I was doing. I came prepared with my documents and was in n out for the background check within 15 minutes. Perhaps the best and cheapest FFL in San Diego to do online out of state purchases/transfers. The business is ran inside a garage. Susan was the one who handled my paperwork; she was quite friendly, funny, and was able to get through it rather quickly. The DROS process was done electronically through the use of a laptop/ipad instead of a paper form at a LGS with saves paper :) Only time you actually had to use a pen is for signatures. I would definitely do more business with the Gussler's again and recommend them to anyone. & now, the long dreaded 10 day wait.. FYI: For out of state Dealer purchases you do get taxed 8% on the total amount including shipping payed for the firearm AND the FFL Transfer Fee. read more

Bought my first gun online and decided to use Gussler's as my FFL. I couldn't be happier with my choice. Susan helped me out and had me in and out if there in no time. I had to take the test for the HSC and still the entire transaction went smoothly. What sucked was being able to hold my gun but now having to wait the mandatory 10 day waiting period. Went there today and got great service. I had a gun transferred thru an internet purchase and did a ppt. Fees are 45$ for an internet transfer which is probably the cheapest in east county. I will use Gusslers again if my schedule permits it. read more

Don't be alarmed. The GPS will lead you through a Santee neighborhood to find a house with an open garage. When you get there, you walk past the two vehicles in the driveway and you literally have to stand at the edge of the garage entrance and wait to be served by, I assume, a husband and wife team. No shopping here. While you wait, you can scan the garage interior from a distance and get lost perusing all the gun laws and certificates haphazardly posted on the walls and rafters or ponder whats in the large safes in the back buried behind a sea of "stuff". You can make a game out of finding stuff like the old dusty compact fridge. Or you can just watch the TV playing classic Westerns from AMC. There even was a spent casing on the table lying next to the laptop. Yes...its a garage. I've purchased 2 guns on-line and used Gussler's for the transfer. It's close to my work and its not too hard to get to. Except for a couple of signatures and thumbprints, everything is electronic (Ipad forms). The transaction went about as quickly as possible; if not quicker than a store like Turner's. Everything printed out is within arms reach from the guy and he's got the system down. Don't expect the typical, personable customer service rep "good-day-nice-to-meet-you" attitude from Don. He's all business....You're in... You're out... Who's Next? I'd use them again the next time I order on-line. In San Diego county I've seen FFL transfer fees between $100 to $40 per gun. $45 works for me. read more

Gussler's is great. Real firearm enthusiasts will appreciate the low transfer fees (lowest in the county) and the personal service here. Yes, its in a garage, but who cares? Ignore the whiners in the other reviews. If you want to see several guns laid outunder a counter, haven't yet grown tired of the normal gun counter experience and like standing in line while a bunch of people who saw a glock or an AR in a movie and now want one, go somewhere else . In my opinion, Gusslers is the #1 choice for FFL transfers from online purchases. I should know, I've done 5 with Gusslers so far. They are no nonsense, and there is no 'please take a number' system. All of my DROS forms have been filled out and all of my pickups have been done within my lunch break. Try that somewhere else. read more

Ordered a gun online for the first time. Don and his wife (Susan, I think?) made the process very easy. It took 10 minutes to fill out the paper work to start my 10 day wait time and 2 minutes when I came by to pick it up. I enjoyed a good conversation with Don who has wealth of information about fed and CA gun laws, not to mention just about any weapon that's out there. To top it off, they probably have the lowest prices around. I will definitely use Gusslers for my next online purchase or local buy. read more

I've transferred 2 guns here. Both were guns that other FFL's won't touch because of the crazy changing laws in California and its not worth the legal hassle they represent. Mr Gussler knows his laws and is on top of it. For example, SSE or single shot exemption pistol transfers AKA off roster handguns that aren't on the DOJ list. If you want a GEN4 GLock too bad unless its SSE. Gusslers will help you on his end to obtain them. I'd recommend going to Calguns.net to learn anything about it though. Second gun i transferred here is the IWI Tavor which requires the bullet button. Just try to get an other FFL to transfer it here much less do it cheaply and importantly transfer the rebuild kits which will be illegal Jan1st 2014. Yes,he does run his business out of his garage. So what!!??? do you want to save money?? go to Gusslers and deal with it. Unless you like paying more for no reason except to walk on carpet and air condition your perfectly coiffed hair. read more

Don is the man, very professional and quick. The easiest transfer ive done in southern california. It felt like less paperwork than usual with his ipad system for completing the dros. I was unsure when i pulled into the neighborhood thinking there would be no gun shop within a residential neighborhood but i was wrong. Got in and got out with breaking the wallet. Dropped off a gun on a tuesday to have Don ship it out of state and take care of the transfer. During the initial contact he was not very friendly and didn't seem to even want to make eye contact with me or answer the few questions that I had. After a week the rifle had not been delivered and I called Don to find out what the hold up was. Turns out he never even bothered to contact FedEx to pick up the rifle for shipment in the first place. He offered no apology for the mistake he made and even tried to blame it on Fedex when the gun was sitting at his residence the entire time. I asked him to please call or email me once the rifle was shipped so that I would at least know the gun was on its way to my buyer. He replied "I'll Try" and then never contacted me. Don Gussler has no clue what customer service is and he doesn't even seem like he wants your business. One star is too high of a rating for Gusslers's and I would advise everyone to stay away from this guy and do business with a proffesional FFL. read more
