I have been working with Mitch and Kelly for the last 10 years with both purchasing and consigning firearms. As the website clearly mentions they cater to gun enthusiasts that know exactly what they want, they will not try to sell you anything you dont want but they will answer all your questions. It's definitely not a store to window shop. They have access to Davidson's and other large retailers, but I find their used gun inventory more interesting. I really like their appointment process and streamlined DROS process. You set up an appointment and you have their undivided attention for that time. You don't have to worry about waiting forever or them getting distracted by window shoppers or walk ins. Great business, just know how they operate and everything will be fine (There's another review where the guy just walked up to their residence and expected everything to work for him. Clearly stated on their website: make an appointment). The FFL fee here is more expensive than Chula Vista Gun Shop, but the collection of consignment guns and the ability to order through their supplier in AZ is great. Mitch and Kelly have been very accommodating and welcoming during my dealings with them. I have done an FFL transfer and purchased a pistol on consignment. No Issues. This guy sucks! Don't even bother! Went to address its a home residence! I knock on the door n immediately am told they work by appointment only, there's nothing on the website that states that. I'm here ready to make my purchase and use them as my transfer FFL dealer. So I try calling in a few days I been trying to call no one Evers answers I leave messages and no return call! I hesitate to update my review, as I do recommend De Chiel Firearms to a lot of my friends. However it wouldn't be fair if I didn't compare different gun stores, apples to apples... Let me begin. There are some good deals to be had at De Chiels. People seem to like to drop off their consignment's here (used guns) and sometimes you can find some pretty interesting firearms. However strictly from an new gun perspective, I have found recently that Mitch's place is not the cheapest.... Here is an example: 1911- De Chiel is a Kimber dealer. He had the best price on a Kimber TLE in all of San Diego. His Christmas special was about $10 cheaper than anywhere else including Turner's special sale. However the advertised price on his website is about $10 more than a Turner's special sale. AR Stripped Lower- De Chiel sells JD stripped lowers at the same price JD Machine actually sells them, however most stores in San Diego usually have them for about $30 dollars cheaper. Going to the last gun show in San Diego, I found 3-4 dealers including JD that was discounting them. Ordering a gun off galleryofguns - I recently inquired about a gun from his supplier. His quoted price was same as Turners without a sale, $50 bucks more than Turners when it was on sale, and about $90 more than Parallax Tactical on a normal day. Basically all I'm trying to say is, I still like shopping here but I no longer find that De Chiel Firearms to be the best "bang" for the buck. Mitch is a good guy, can be a little grumpy at times but otherwise he is pretty nice. Always has great deals on used guns on his website, a lot of times it off roster stuff that you can only get through a private party transfer and he doesn't over price stuff. If your selling a gun, his fee is cheap, $50 flat rate. If you're selling a super cheap gun it's not that great but if you are selling something expensive it is the best deal around. I've only talked to Mitch on the phone and during the ordering process, and he's nice. His daughter is who you will likely meet when you do your transactions. She is very nice and helpful. I got a really good deal on an SA Loaded and their service is what gives them 5 stars. The pistol had a few cosmetic issues with it, but fortunately SA took care of it for me. The cosmetic issues are not from DCF, rather from factory. I wish they opened more days of the week, but other than that, if I need them i wouldn't mind using them as an FFL again. read more

I have dealt for several years with Mitch and Kelly and have never had a problem. They are both knowledgeable, responsible and friendly. Mitch has been involved with firearms for a long time and his service is reasonable if one considers he deals one on one to get you what you want when you want it. There is no "take a number" machine in his office and you can count on spending as little or as much time as needed with the appointment schedule system. No waiting for someone ahead of you in line discussing his pet project or latest custom load. I ordered a rifle through Gallery Of Guns (GOG). After getting an "instant quote", De Chiel Firearms name came up among a list of 6 other vendors and theirs had the 2nd lowest price (within $10). I decided to go with them since they are local and the cost of gas and time to get to the other vendor would have ended up costing a little more. Once the process through GOG was done, I received a confirmation email from De Chiel acknowledging purchase. We set up an appointment via email to do the paperwork and set up another for actual pick up around 10 days later. Everything from setting up the appointment, getting the paperwork completed and finally picking up the gun went very smoothly. Kelly is pleasant and the transactions were done efficiently. I was a little skeptical about the GOG transaction and the "Mom and Pop" home office FFL, but they are legit. My only knock is that appointment times are limited compared to a bigger store so you might have to wait a little longer to actually get the process going. Good people. I bought a Kimber TLE when I came back from an Afgan deployment in 2011. They have me a good price at the time. I recently bought a Colt MARSOC pistol and needed more mags. Mitch has the Kimber mags advertised at $20. I figured that I would stock up. Once I got to the store the price was $23/$25 black/stainless, respectively. After checking out, I took another look at his site to make sure I hadn't made a mistake. I brought this to Mitch's attention, he said it was a mistake. Nothing more, no attempt to fix his mistake. For the price I paid, I could have gotten the mags direct from Kimber. I went to him because he was supposed to be cheaper. Not shopping there again. read more

All, I've read here that Mitch's prices are at or just above the cost of the same type weapon, which is true. But, what he does give in abundance is FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. This more than makes up for any extra cost of any weapon. I have purchased three long rifles, and conducted two sales transferrs with him, all with unsurpassed service. Now I am in the process of making another purchase through him for consigned rifle. Since Mitch works by appointment, you do not have to wait for the sales person in a gun store to advise people as to what end of the gun the bullet comes out of. (I was once in a gun store where I heard a woman ask the clerk: "Are these real guns?") The sales and documentation process was smooth and quick with no fumbling or uncertainty over the paperwork. It is likely that you will deal with Mitch's daughter and she is friendly and knowledgeable. Mitch will act as FFA for an internet sale for a fee. Worth every penny!
