I think this is the best location around. The mostacolli with light meat sauce is my favorite. The sauce is a little sweeter than I normally go for. We did a scheduled pickup from their website, which was pretty convenient. Gus's has been a staple in Howell for ever and they've maintained solid, quality food the entire time. The pizzas and the ribs were really good - worth getting again. The breadsticks however, are the best in town - get a few bags cuz they can go fast. We'll be back again. read more

Ordered two slabs of ribs and 12 ounces of mostaccioli as carry out. Ribs were great, pasta was OK. Order was ready when promised. They really want you to order online, but website was odd, seemed to be geared towards catering. Wanted ribs, beans, and coleslaw. Couldn't find beans or coleslaw on the menu. Even the ribs were hard to find. Oddest part is that the ribs were packaged in a study box. Just a box. No tin foil. No wax paper. Just sticky ribs laying on top of cardboard with the BBQ sauce being absorbed into the cardboard. Can't imagine this is SOP. Maybe they ran out? Ribs were delicious and tender! read more

This might be my favorite pizza place in Howell. Really great tasting pizza even though the inside of the place looks a little beat down, you'll find the service to be just fine, and the pizza excellent. If you're the type of the person to get salads with your pizza this place has an excellent salad as well. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is because I felt pretty rough after eating the pizza. I don't know if it was me just reacting to the heavy food as it was abnormal for my diet at the time, or if it was just the pizza, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since it tasted so good. read more

Plastic found inside a breadstick! Typically we love Gus's but recently we got dinner and while eating discovered a piece of plastic in the breadstick. I almost swallowed it and glad I checked before I did. Who knows how much plastic is ingested by people from this place. Will not be going back. read more

This place used to be good but has gotten worse and worse in terms of both food and customer service. Both of the pizzas we ordered were awful - raw dough, WAY too much cheese and sauce, unevenly distributed toppings, hardly any pepperoni, etc. Salad was fine. Gus' Carryout, Hartland, consistently delivers sub par service. My orders are rarely ready at the specified time even though I deliberately don't arrive until 5 minutes late. Half the time my orders are missing dips or dressings. Food is good but its nor worth the aggravation any more. read more

Really wanted a Greek and Sticks last night! Made them my weekly "take out" to help during this virus. Anyway, p/u my order and did not realize it wasn't correct until I got home. Called, informed and they said swing back by and we'll make it right. I was not a fan of the petite Greek as their portions are far smaller than they used to be...it's been awhile since I ordered one.... and I was trying to feed two, but I was good and fresh. But I was missing some Cheese Dip for the sticks from my order. May seem petty but it's what I ordered. Stopped back by today and they set me up w/ the missing Dip and some additional sticks for my time. We had a very large order (12 pizzas different topping on several) that we placed the day prior for a noon pick up the next day. All the pizzas were ready on time and were hot and delicious! Dough was still gooey. Cheese wasn't even all the way melted on top. Been trying to spend money with local places to help keep them afloat during these tough times. But don't take advantage of it by doing a half ass job. The person who packed the pizza had to have seen the pizza wasn't cooked. I've gone here quite a few times over my years in here in Howell and despite the frequent bad service the food is worth the money(sometimes) but today that ends. Here are a few of my experiences with this company. My order is always almost always the same. I order the mostaccioli dinner for two and I request the salad without feta. Numerous times I've gotten my order and I have received feta on the salad. A few times I have gotten my salad and there was feta residue as well as a few chunks of feta on the salad. Are you kidding me? What if I was allergic? This is a huge no no in the food business. I called and talked to the manager who accused me of lying to him until I told him I had photos of it. My girlfriend went to pick up the replacement salad and he told her that we are to check the salad before leaving or he will not replace it. Excuse me what? It isn't my job to ensure order accuracy. As the customer I pay you to make my food correctly. The slogan on the wall above the counter reads Always Fresh. Always Ready. Always Great. I can't begin to explain how untrue this is. Half the time I walk in there is a customer angry about the service and storms out. Your food is fresh I'll give you that but that only true because always ready is far from accurate. Always great is probably the biggest farce in the previously mentioned tenants. I'll let my latest experience sum that one up. I ordered my usual order but decided to add rice pudding into the mix. I don't eat it often as I am on a restricted diet but decided to treat myself as my medical issues have been going well. I place the order no problem. I go to pay and the cashier tells me to grab the pudding off the shelf. Problem, there is none. She tries to sell me cheesecake that I do not want and I have it removed from the bill. While I am waiting for her to get the rest of my food a second employee begins a conversation with another patron who happens to be a Tomato Brothers employee(another company owned by the same family). The second girl begins to compliment the Tomato Brothers employee on her mask and complains that they used to be able to wear masks like that but is no longer able to because, "Some bitch left a bad Yelp review". The original employee comes to the counter and cannot procure my food. They made my salad but never bothered to make my pasta. I am offered anything I want from the counter. I've already established the salads are of no interest as I don't eat feta. I would have loved a rice pudding but again we've already mentioned they didn't have any. By process of elimination I guess I'll settle for cheesecake I've already said I don't want. To point out the obvious this means I am now waiting for my food. I am high risk and do not want to be inside this tiny building that is now fitting way more people than a six foot spacing will actually allow. Did any of the staff bother asking folks to step outside? That's a big no. If I wanted to wait for my food and go beyond acceptable risk I wouldn't have called ahead. read more
