The good about Gus Auto Repair is that they answered the phone fast. Another good is they speak English ect. The bad is short also, but is BAD. I was across the street or kiddie corner and accidentally locked my keys in my car. I had to get home fast. A family member was sick. I told them I'd be home promptly. The Gus employee told me for him to walk across the street to me and open my car door was going to cost me 80 dollars. Westmonts finest drove up and asked me a couple questions and said they'd do it for free. I called Gus and said no thankyou! How awful was that. I'll never give them business. Wow. I just called in and spoke with Gus. I have an Audi A3 that needs a coolant flush and to have the Halex fluid replaced. I have gotten three other quotes over the phone from nearby Auto Repair shops. He told me that I had to come in to get an estimate which I know is not true because I had the make model and the number on me. I told him what I was quoted for this work to be done and he said that's fine. Go to those places because I don't need the work anyways I'm super busy. I laughed and then hung up. Don't go here. Filled my tires at the gas station. All of a sudden my low tire pressure warning came on. Couldn't figure out why or how when the machine said the tires were at 35psi. So I drove across the street to Gus's and they were so helpful. They stopped what they were doing to help me figure out why my warning was on. On March 13th, 2018 I took my car to this Gus' Automotive for an emissions issue. I explained to Gus directly that my sons car needed the plates renewed and it would not pass emissions and I needed an estimate to fix it. On March 16th, 2018 I received a call from Gus to tell me that my car was complete and it passed the emission inspection. I didn't ask him to take the car but he told me that he couldn't guarantee the work without knowing it would pass inspection. I was impressed to see him go the extra mile. On Saturday March 17th, 2018, my son went to the location to pick up the car and after paying for it discovered that it would not start. Gus told him that they ran it out of gas and my son would need to go to the gas station to get some. After returning with the gas, the car started but the check engine light was on again and Gus told my son that it was because the car ran out of gas and reset the code. I didn't know that this happened until today when my son called me to tell me that the car was running like it was before the repairs and the check engine light was back on. I called Gus's Automotive and explained that the car was acting up again and asked when we could bring it in. Gus then told me that I have black energy and that my business is not wanted and he did not offer a warranty on repairs. I could understand this if it were weeks or months later but it is less than 3 days since we picked it up and the reason that we took it there and paid him for is not rectified. While the car has passed emissions, the reason we paid is not fixed and I feel that he did something fishy to make it pass just so that he could collect a payment from us. After he hung up on me 2 times, I drove to the location and he called me crazy and refused to fix the issue & told me to take my business elsewhere. I asked for a refund which he refused so I have filed a complaint with my CC company. read more

Seemed decent at first, but very strange jerking around regarding the actual inspection to be done on my vehicle, and communication about what's up, so I could decide what I wanted done on it. On last Friday, said they could work on it Monday. I got it there Monday morning, they said asap, but maybe not til Tuesday. On Tuesday at the end of the day, said didn't have time, so definitely first thing Thursday (after the 4th of July holiday). Then by then end of Thursday, still nothing. And every time I had to contact them to find out what was up, no updates, no info. So that was third strike, I took it to a different shop after 5pm on Thursday, and they said they'd get to it Friday, and they did (like every other shop I've been to). Don't know what was up with Gus', or maybe with Gus in particular (the only guy I ever spoke to there), but apparently reliability, communication, and straightforward information isn't what they offer, despite the likelihood that up to a couple thousand dollars of work was likely worth it, if everything else checked out. So that other garage down the street gets my business, and meanwhile, no idea why they couldn't have just told me at Gus' they were too busy, if that's what it was. read more
