We have been going to Gus & Gus place for the last 20 years during our family vacations in Rehoboth, and they haven't disappointed us. Their business still appears to be booming and they usually have a line out the door to order food during peak beach busy season. As for the food, their cheesesteak sandwiches always hit the spot. Their fries are solid too. The location being right off the beach & boardwalk is very convenient as well. The other thing to note is this is a cash only restaurant. And take a look at the very old school cash register photo below!

Yooooo... when I was in Rehoboth, I ate here all four days. Suffice to say, I was sick of fried chicken on the last day, so too much of a good thing is possible. First day, my wife got the fried chicken, I got a steak sandwich which was just a cheesesteak. I dunno why I was thinking it'll be a literal steak sandwich... my bad. I was craving that chicken the rest of the day and when I tried to go back later that night for chicken, they sold out. Boooo... so I got it the next day. By then the charm wore off but it was still good. Later that evening... I tried to look for something else. The next day.. I got it again cause it was right next to my hotel. Last day... I just thought, why not get it again cause four in a row... or something. I realized that life isn't like a game of connect 4 and I don't get to yell out bingo. But I know I will get Gus Gus fried chicken next time I'm Rehoboth... cause it's like tradition now... but maybe not every day I'm there....

A staple of Rehoboth beach for 67 years, this place serves up great hamburgers, hotdogs, corn dogs, and fries for a long time. This man at the grill knows what he is doing and if supporting local small businesses is important to you as well, then you have to stop by this place and give them a try.

If you are looking for an old-timey boardwalk spot serving killer food (like fried chicken, cheesesteaks, french fries) all cooked in peanut oil...then this is your spot! ***WARNING: this is a CASH ONLY establishment, so come prepared! Wife and I had a quick beachside getaway before a weekend in DC, so we came to the area for some R&R and were looking for a nostalgic meal when we hit the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach. We sat at an inside booth and the server began to take care of us. It was fun to view all the old pictures hanging throughout the space, and watching the crew clean and peel potatoes and work the grill was a cool way to pass the time while our food was prepared. We ordered both fried chicken and a cheesesteak to share, along with sides of french fries and cole slaw. Honestly, I was not expecting that much...but the fried chicken was some of the best I've ever had! The exterior was crispy, crunchy and had great flavor from the peanut oil and it was served piping hot. Came with a dinner roll. Although the cheesesteak was on the smaller side, we ordered it loaded and the melding of flavors was on point. Fries cooked in peanut oil also had that distinct flavor...doused with malt vinegar and ketchup made for the perfect bite. Cole slaw was the minced style with a tangy, creamy dressing. Both of us really loved our meals and would return here in a heartbeat.

I really liked this place and it kind of was an unexpected surprise during my quick trip to the area. I found myself needing something to eat and during off season I really didn't see much open. I saw Gus & Gus was open and got in line. Even better was that you could eat inside instead of standing outside of having to sit on a bench inside so that's what I did. Note: CASH ONLY- there is an ATM inside. Gus & Gus sort of throws you back to the 60's with its original diner decor. Its old-school jukeboxes on the tables that unfortunately are not playable. Everything inside looks like it's the original decoration. Old family photos. This place is legit. The food is a simple sort of hamburger & fries joint. Everything made fresh to order how you like it and it comes out rather quickly. Again, being off season I didn't have much competition in terms of waiting, but still, the wait was minimal. The staff, well, the family working there was really friendly and helpful. Was a really cool experience. The only downside was that it definitely had that old diner smell to it, but the food is worth it. I loved the burger and the fries are amazing and the price? You can't beat it.

Customer Service - 5 out of 5 Wait time - 3.5 out of 5 Cleanliness - 4 out of 5 Ambiance - 4 out of 5 Food quality - 3.5 out of 5 Gus and Gus is a nice place to grab a quick bite, but not too quick. This popular boardwalk spot does get long lines and the food seems to be "made to order". The cashier didn't seem too keen on taking the next customer until the previous customer's order was completed so that made the line move even slower. Customer service was great, staff was friendly and interacted well with each customer. The large cheesesteak had a good flavor and was a decent size for $11.50. The only cheese option is White America. Bread was good, it was soft and chewy. Orders are not written down so if you place a large order just make sure you receive everything. Overall I give this place a B rating.

This is a cash only place with some inside dining but most people order to go outside. The line was long but kind of worth it since I got a cheeseburger and it was really good and I was considering going back in the long line to get another one. Also, the fries portions were fairly large so great bang for your buck there. If you go to the beach, this is definitely a good place to stop for food.

If you're a bit squeamish about the cleanliness of your restaurant experience... I might recommend you another joint. But if you're the type of person who loves to visit a greasy spoon and revel in the collective history of the flat-top's well... grease, this is just the spot for you! Gus And Gus Place is... real old. It's real old and it's not updated. The signage harkens back to a simpler time, the bold centered coca cola advertising lets you know which side of the Coke Pepsi wars they landed on. The hard black lettering on large white rectangles evokes the 1960's... which is not a mistake. These Rehobeth Beach landmark has been open for more than 60 years. And they are flinging fries, hamburgers, and fried chicken the old fashioned way. I ended up ordering a Gyro Salad... cause I'm me. When the bowl came to the table, I thought... oh... that's not a big enough salad to make a meal of... but I was completely wrong. They packed a lot into that little bowl and I was barely able to finish it. The fried chicken was crispy and pretty delicious, personally I would have like a bit more seasoning. The prices at Gus and Gus place are just right. They have not held steady with inflation, and because of that, we were able to feed our group of four for just about 50 bucks. You can tell a lot of their business is walk up traffic at the front window, and since they're just about right next to "Fun Land", I'm sure the simple and straightforward fare is popular amongst families at the boardwalk with picky children. Definitely a place to check out if you're not on a diet, are on a budget, and want to have solid greasy diner fare at the boardwalk.

Loved everything about our experience here! We ordered a burger with pickles, lettuce, Mayo, ketchup and mustard (absolutely delicious and made to order) and a hot dog (they split them and grill them, and again dress them up as requested). We would've happily ordered more if we weren't planning on getting more boardwalk goodies. The line wasn't too long around 1130 AM (on a holiday Monday) but I imagine gets pretty crazy at peak times on the weekend.

Was in the mood for a burger while waiting for the fireworks to begin, so decided on Gus' as you could smell the food cooking while walking along the boardwalk. The line was long and it took a good while to order. I like how you could see your food being grilled/fried right in front of you. When the cook is ready, he'll ask if you want anything on your burgers. Decided on just cheese. We all thought our cheeseburgers were just okay. Price was decent ($6 for a 1/4lb and $3 for a smaller burger). If you are hungry, I suggest you order something other than a burger. Medium fries was more than enough for 3 to share. Fries were okay. Some soggy. Some extra crispy. If you just want a drink and/or fries, there's a separate line so make sure you read the signs!

A charming Rehoboth boardwalk classic. Remember to bring cash because this spot is cash only~ Everything is grilled right in front of you in this adorable little joint and the french fries are freshly cut and fried up! Cheeseburger (4/5): A classic cheeseburger although made from frozen patties hits the spot on a hot summer day when you're looking for that familiar comforting taste. It is on the smaller side. Philly Cheesesteak (4.5/5): Quite heavy (as should be expected) but worth every bite! A generous serving of meat with all the toppings is sure to satisfy (definitely a bigger portion than the cheeseburger)

Things I liked: - their ample selection of breakfast burritos and ready-to-eat food like protein bars and pastries. I got their vegan breakfast burrito (the Happy Cow) which was basically a tofu scramble in a burrito. It was good and satiating! - my cappuccino with oat milk was good. I don't know why they offer three different sizes for cappuccinos though. Areas for improvement: - I really felt bad for their staff because of how crazy it was. They had enough people working (although another person on the register would be nice) but having paper tickets is a little archaic and slow. - They heavily promote mobile ordering, but as other reviewers have noted, mobile orders are in a totally different queue. I would've placed my order online but the wait time was two or three hours! They don't let you set a pickup time, so it seemed wildly unpredictable. - why is the menu SO long? You don't need to make everyone happy! It's a cute spot and, were it not so packed, I would've spent time there. There's plenty of seating for larger groups.

I decided I wanted to do a brunch type of place instead and randomly found this place. This place was definitely me. The duck around and find out drink with the little rubber duck in it, I had to get cause I love ducks. And it changed colors! We have the indigo gin at home that changes color when you add citrus to it, but I never really have took the time to just sit and watch it change completely, it was cool. The espresso martini, I think was one of the best espresso martinis I ever had! I like the option you get to pick if you want tequila, rum, or vodka with it. I normally don't like vodka that much but I'll tolerate it in an espresso martini because it covers up the vodka taste. But I liked the different options, and the tequila went well with it. I think tequila espresso martinis are becoming popular now, I've seen them more now. The other drinks they had were great as well! We got a strawberry cream martini which was delicious. I think we got some kind of cheesecake key lime martini with cheesecake on the rim, which was great too. Love the over the top drinks since I'm over the top too. We drank more than we were planning but oh well can't help it they were so good. For food I got the lobster Benedict which was amazing, prob one of the best Benedict's I've had too. The hollandaise sauce was great, it was flavorful , creamy, the right thickness , not too runny. So many places can mess that up. And the lobster was fresh and I think there was a decent amount. My husband's chicken and waffles were delicious as well. The servers/bartenders were also very friendly and helpful. We at the bar , it's kind of a small restaurant. But it was nice cause we got to talk to the bartender and she told me the best drinks to order and some have won awards.
