I took a jam making class with Gus and Grey, and it was awesome! Blueberries and lime go great together!

Definitely a cool stop in (or near?) eastern market in Detroit. It's 3 floors but the one you…read moredefinitely want to check out is the first. They sell edible goods local, foreign, and basic. The problem is that everything is somewhat to grossly overpriced. The local stuff sure - for example, I paid $2.50 a piece for Bev's Bagels (decent, nothing compared to mid tier NYC bagels but better than the vast majority of what you can find in southern Michigan). But for basic (or even foreign) goods it seems ridiculous to buy here instead of a normal grocery store or one of the myriad ethnic shops around. The real star is the cheese selection. They don't have much out, but they have a multi-page list of what they have in stock and they are both knowledgeable and generous with samples. I picked up a really interesting 12-year aged cheddar and tried a few others. There are always a couple of samples out but I've found them unexciting. They have an equally impressive list of meats but I haven't had the chance to explore those. Take the original (and super cool) elevator up to the second or third floors and you can find all kinds of knick knacks from lawn ornaments to Detroit gear. I'm not sure if it was a sale or not, but the last time I was there I picked up a decent quality t shirt for a mere $10. Overall it's a cool store and definitely worth checking out, but unless you're looking for a particularly rare cheese the likelihood of finding anything worth purchasing is slim.

The store is clean and well organized and the employees are friendly and helpful. One of the best things is you can try/taste the cheese. Ask for a taste of a particular cheese you are interested in and an employee will cut the cheese and give you a taste. If you go to Eastern Market, give DeVries & Co. Cheese shop a try. Nice selection of cheese and sauces and gifts in 3 floors.

My husband had been coming here since last year. We love to buy all of our meat here. This was the…read morefirt time I actually came with him and went inside. Right when you walk in, they have a checkout counter and a freezer with Guernsey icecream (the one they have at Sander's AND the best icecream I have ever had). On the side they have a room FILLED with meat! We always get the beef and it is the BEST quality beef there is and affordable. The price is comparable to the store. You can buy a pound for around $6-7. It is super fresh too. We actually got chicken breast a few times. We want to try their ribs as well. They also sell milk, eggs, cheese, and more. They also allow you to call ahead for big orders. If you own a freezer chest I highly suggest buying $50 worth of food because they have a $5 off $50 coupon on the website. We buy the beef and then freeze it and it lasts 6-7 weeks. It's basically an amazing way to get a package for free. The customer service is amazing. The parking gets full fast, but a lot of people walk in quickly and leave pretty fast. We have never had any issues with quality or taste. We can taste the difference in the beef. We have tried sam's, costco, meijer, walmart, and kroger. This is by far the best quality

I was on the hunt for Amish short ribs. Google suggested Hefling's. It was almost an hour drive,…read morebut I had time and could avoid rush hour. It's so small, I actually drove past it at first. As soon as I turned around, I realized it was right in front of me. It is a pretty small and simple farm market. Although they didn't have any short ribs that day, I was told I could order them. Since I was there, I stocked up on other meats. Wish I stayed closer. But will be returning whenever possible.
