The clerks were friendly, helpful and informative...none of that snooty "can't bother to talk to you" attitude here. I was quickly assisted in getting a library card and the nice man gave me a tour of the facility. As homeschoolers, we utilize the public library system quite a bit. I was so happy to see that this county has an online system that let's you request books from other branches. JOY JOY JOY....the angels were singing in my head. What is such a standard library service in California is hard to find here in Texas. But the Grayson County Library System kicks butt and they get it done! In this case it's the Town Hall building for the once tiny town of Prosper. Not long ago this was literally a tiny north Texas Town,exactly like the 1000s dotting the flat prairie of this part of the state. As development moves north at an ever more rapid pace,these tiny communities are being transformed overnight. It is critical with this type growth that responsible citizens are in from the start with rock solid civic planning. Once the infrastructure is planned and built out,it's impossible to retreat and redo. Setting the foundation for what's to come is a make it or break it proposition. On this day,I had taken my High School Junior Grandson to breakfast. Afterward I proposed we get on the Dallas north toll road and see where it ends. It still ends in roughly Prosper where staging is taking place to begin the extension even further north. Unprecedented growth continues to take place. I turned up towards the little town and as we passed the Town Hall building,I proposed we go in and take a look. Little did my grandson know that I'd disguised a civics lesson for him in the form of a city government visit. Ha,he thought he was missing school! Happy Birthday! As we entered the building I was truly amazed at the quality of construction. Well planned and thought out with top quality materials from floor to ceiling. Display cases reviews the history of small town Prosper in a museum quality way. We were greeted by a lovely representative of the city that was very helpful in our understanding of the area. If you're out and about seeing what's happening in our ever changing world,I highly recommend you stop in and appreciate this lovely structure and budding city government.

The library itself is all self-service based as you checkout your books using your digital library card and pick up the held books at the entrance which is placed based on alphabetical order of the first letter of your last name. Great collection of books for kids and adults. The only thing l wished they had more toys for kids in the play room, I find that some toys are missing some pieces and not well maintained but otherwise a great place to get your kids to spend some time with books.

The ambiance is a bit more upbeat that a typical library, almost hip feeling if you will. I went to this library to use the computer and printing sevices. The computers were slow to…read morefunction. I was amazed they had a charging dock for phones! I went to the charging station, but the chargers were VERY slow to charge. They would not charge above 9%. This was disappointing. I went home to make certain that my phone was working and it worked with other chargers. Printing is 10 cents a page for black and white. The printing machine was very easy to use. The library was clean and organized. It was very hard to move around in a wheelchair . It would be beneficial to have more ADA wheelchair spaces. The renting policies for books and videos are great.

I was surprised since the library in Houston all close at 6:00PM. Library is a place where we can being indoor with the AC and a restroom to use if need to. There are plenty of parking space here and there are some steps to go up to the main door and there is a ramp near the handicap parking space. My only complain is there is not enough tree planted area here for some shaded parking space. The first floor is the kids section. and downstairs is the adult section, they have stairs and elevators. There are pretty of chairs and table. There is a puzzle table where anyone can work on the puzzle and that was where we spend our time there. The staff here are very friendly by helping me to pronounce the name of the library was named after properly.

I give them back the books I've read so they can be sold to others. I can't afford the prices of new books, so I wait until they are used and buy them.

This is a pretty good library for what I've done -- I always visit online and reserve books, then…read moredrop by to pick them up. It always seems loud in here so I wouldn't advise trying to get anything done where you need it to be quiet. I like that they have a drive-up book return too -- very convenient. This library does not participate with the Libby app -- not at the time of this writing -- so if you reserve an ebook, you'll need to download the app they do work with. They FINALLY got more parking added here -- it's been so tough to find parking but there's a long new section of spaces now.
